wow DC has changed so much since I lived there. I lived near Howard (now know as Shaw) and never heard that area described as "hip and trendy". It was one of my favorite neighborhoods I've ever lived in. This was a real cool apartment hunting video. I feel like she says the things that are in my head.
You are completely correct. I know that DC is evolving rapidly and that comes with pros and cons. I so want to do my master bedroom, still have the painter grade paint from 16 yrs ago. The only room that has not been repainted. I have ideas, and have squirreled away items over the last few years, but paralyzed on where to start.
I been looking at apartments to move to, and I totally relate to the finding a place that isn’t depressing, and lighting in the unit was very important to me , and in unit laundry is a major game changer for me ! I found a place, and I love it , I move in oct.21st , has everything I needed and wanted ❤

I mean, I've seen so many home tours (which is probably why RU-vid suggested your video but I have never typed in DC) but the comedy you inserted within your tour made it the best yet. Similar prices and sizes as Silicon Valley in California. What I did for 10 years before buying my house and moving to San Diego is I rented a guest cottage with a yard (near my work.) They kept the rent the same for 10 years. Rent tripled when I moved. Found it by searching: Cottages, mother-in-law units. Congratulations & enjoy!
😭😭😭 just the normal haunting. That’s the only reason why I wouldn’t be able to live in a historical building bc of that! I went through some creepy paranormal stuff when I was younger & till this day cannot sleep w/ the lights off or be home alone at night but your place is beautiful congrats!!

Caroline, I just discovered your channel a week or so ago and have already watched and loved so many of your videos. As a fellow DC resident, though, I have to ask: HOW did you find the rowhouse apartment you ended up taking! It seems to have EVERYTHING I would want, including that incredible location. I know you talked about calling apartment buildings to see if they have unlisted openings, but what did you do to find the other locations? Did you use a particular site, word-of-mouth, or something else? I absolutely need to get out of my ugly apartment in my boring, remote neighborhood but the very thought of starting apartment hunting is frankly depressing. I doubt you'll see this but if you do - or if anyone else sees this and has advice - please, send help!

I didn’t expect to laugh out loud. “I guess she would be a neighbor if I moved in there, well that’s off the table now cause she’s my enemy.” I died then I immediately subscribed. One thing that would have been great is a little bit of info about how you found these places and went about narrowing down which you wanted to actually go look at :)
Narrowed down using my requirement list that I talk about in the beginning. Those were my requirements for seeing a place in person 🙂 and I used apartments.com and Zillow!
