DCS: Mig-29 Fulcrum 2 Round BVR engagement 1v1 PvP 

I do not know much about Mig tactics but, it is not better to take full speed, I guess above Mach 1.5, to give your missile energy advantage on the first shot?. Congrats to you, very nice work by the way.

You should scan up with radar. Use PPS (HI) in head to head engagement.

And one more thing, no copy&paste an entire stream video thats last 3-4 hrs! Hell I dont even understand why would people post those shitty stream videos and expect viewers to watch them.

absolutely, sometimes you have to waste that first missile to force him defensive, but again, a skilled pilot will know the range is too long and easily defeat it with a simple crank as you saw xoho do here, and maintain his cool, if you fire your first missile at long range and he instantly dives for the deck, you know you have an inexperienced guy on ur hands and you can go in for that kill. its really cool man, its like a big chess game.

It's why I like this stuff. It's the technicalities behind everything that's going on.

thanks man, ya the mig radar is no match for the eagle, I duno about the flanker tho (i don't know too much about it) but i'm sure its weaker. can't wait to pitch it against the f14 lol

Growling Sidewinder good news it’s similar enough.. I find it has better control at low speeds and it’s radar is great. J-11 even has the R-77 but the regular flanker just has fox 1 and 2’s.

@@GrowlingSidewinder Oh I didn't notice as I watched without sound. But yeah, you'd be shocked how much larger your engagement range gets if you use the missiles correctly. Also I would consider trying to crank the other way. When he cranked right in the first clip you cranked left. You had fired your Fox1 and he had not. That means if he decides to try and lock you he can do so by slowly turning away from your missile. If you cranked the other way he would have had to keep turning into your missile if he wanted to lock you. That would have made your missile much more dangerous for him.

you make a solid point about dragging him back into my missile, I just crank the same way cuz Its easier to keep him in my gimble limits for my follow up shot but ya ur right the opposite way serves a better purpose. thanks for your tip.

@@GrowlingSidewinder I agree, especislly DCS ai at times doesnt always go as planned. No rush, it takes time. When the harms and gbu's and other weapons come out you should defenitly do a small maybe 3 part series. Especially with the f14. Maybe do a scenario where Iran does a surprise attack on a carrier group on the gulf map and show the experience of 2 pilots 1 f18 and 1 f14. If you ever need help setting a scenario up feel free to message me.

Yes! The AIM-54, AIM-120, and R-77 all have that capability. I'm unsure of the R-77 and AIM-54, but the AIM-120s in DCS go pitbull (med prf, active) at ~8nm when supported with TWS (track while scan). In this case I wasn't very familiar with the Mig's radar, so I played it safe and used STT (Single target track) rather than TWS (track while scan), which lets him know I'm locked, and gives immediate missile launch warnings. The reason I did this was that it's easier to locate the other guy, easier to use, and it gives me the option of firing the R-27ER as needed. Edit: In Growling Sidewinder's Mig29 vs an F-14's Aim-54 video (where I die), the only reason I broke so quickly was because I was able to spot it visually by eyeballing his contrail and looking for the separation. I didn't get a launch/lock warning until the very end.

@@xoho6251 I understand that the 120s need tracking up to the threshold point but if you blind fired it without a target does it just goes pitbull from the get go although it can't track unless its within its radar range and the target happens to be in its vision or am I wrong? My original question was more in a BVR (50+mi) initial situation can I set the 54 or 77 to remain radar silent after firing it and for a set period of time/distance then activate guidance. To an enemy you would hear the radar tone, then warning right when you fire (which may prompt a maneuver), then just radar (assuming you're still bore on) and he would see the smoke trail eventually but while the missile is "silent" he might think its just IR or a dead F1F3 since there is no missile warning. Might seem like a dumb scenario but (ignoring IRL stuff) you could "trap" the enemy by firing two or three on each side of him/her without them realizing its actually radar guided coming after them.

2 engines increases survivability and works better with its frame. Also it peaks at 8800 kn of thrust for each engine. There was no engine small enough to fit the frame and match the thrust of 17400 kn in the 70-s

shes a beaut man. one of my fav planes, my only complaint is how fast she burns fuel. but to be fair it hauls ass. fantastic interceptor.

if I remember correctly, I changed the language somewhere in the settings something like "native language" I turned to English instead of default.

That's 'cause it's pretty bad :) The 29's flight performance is awesome though!
