Nice video, thanks for posting. It's great to see some appreciation for the intro mission, it was one of the hardest to program, due to the AI's general inability to follow ground waypoints :) You can warm up your engine faster if you close the oil cooler and turn on oil dilution until it warms up at 1000 RPM. Saves you time so you won't miss the takeoff and set course times. Looking forward to the 2nd part. Be sure to read the real-world combat report afterwards and compare your experience!

Thank you so much for watching. Can't tell you how much appreciate all the campaigns you put out, itching to tackle zone 5 very soon. Yes I have spent enough time in that editor to know how hard it was getting those ai to play ball haha. Really sets up the mood for campaign tho & very nice touch! Thanks for the tip too will try it out. Unfortunately am usually pushed for time to give the missions justice they deserve planning wise, just hope I don't mess up any of your hard work! Thanks again. Ps. The after action report had nothing about Lt Miller fumbling round cockpit trying find his drop tank levers during merge 🤦 haha

I just started this campaign as well. You can usually close your cowl flaps when air speed is above 200 mph or temp is at or below 200c to give you a little more speed. Enjoying watching you fly the mission lanky.

Thanks dan! Yes I did read a bit in there about cowl flaps above that speed, was planning to do so after climb but totally forgot em till back over channel! 🤦

Incase anybody is interested in VR: It works. I just did mission4 and was able to play with a very comfortable frame rate without having to cut the number of bombers. Arguably, I don't get very near them. Mind you, you have to configure your DCS resolution for VR. I have 2 settings, one for VR and the other when playing with Track IR.

Thanks for this company walkthrough videos! Being far from aviation subject, I often stuck in startup procedures, but love to fly p47 in vr.

Although watching at jeep from 3rd person view is not vr friendly, lying on a wing in VR is a breathtaking experience.

Lol, I did mission one this past weekend and had the same trouble with getting into formation. I realized that while I do okay with the jets, I had never tried geting into formation with the Thunderbolt and I could not get my speed right to save my life. Apparently, formation skill in jets didn't translate to the P47 for me. Back to NTTR for more training... The campaign is looking great so far with lots of nice details. My only complaint is the AI but that is hardly Reflected's fault. He did the best he could with what he had. I love the fact that all the missions are based on actual events. The campaign gives an impression of authenticity, immersion and a sense of "being there" and avoids the "you are an elite pilot and only you can save the world" backstory. It feels instead like you one small piece in a big story. Like RL. I hope the first half of the misson didn't put you off although I am going to have to work hard to stay ahead of you to avoid any spoilers :)

P.S. I have a copy of an original manual which states that at altitude, the throttle should be left full forward and power is adjusted with the boost lever.
@lankypilot778
@lankypilot778 3 года назад
Thanks! That matches what's in the original document reflected have. It's a handful cos they also state never move throttle lower than the boost. So in heat of moment you have to make sure boost off first. I actually had the prop pitch set up on my left wathog throttle so reckon i will switch it & have boost for it instead, will make much easier

Haha yeh any warbird i am trailing the pack first half of campaign freaking out ill blow engine 😂 Yes it's teriffic having those real world touches & reports. Bunyap did a great job likewise in his spitfire campaign. Looking forward to rest of campaign, will be playing the tomcat one by reflected alongside so dobt worry you will have plenty of time to keep ahead haha. Good luck!

@@lankypilot778 That's what I did with my Virpil throttle and it works great. Right side for throttle. Left side for boost.

somehow I feel there is a structural power deficiency, in dcs. super hard to keep up with the AI, no matter what I try. still amazing experience to taxi and fly with the formation

studying engine management now, after my second attempt; overheating to the max over the french coast, had to turn back and ditch in the channel… i was trying to manage temperature the entire time. any ideas? (engine failures turned off) nice ytube channell

Sorry for the lateness, yes took me a long time to get to point to keep up with flights. To be honest I have forgotten settings tho. I do go through them as I progress in campaign & learn, but not off top my head right now sorry

@@lankypilot778 i fugured it out; warming up is critical, and there is an oil dilution switch… its a delicate beast but once setup can be extremely fast. one of the fastest prop planes. i enjoy tinkering with its virtual enging

Yes getting behind too far you will never catch up so needed to get set up right off the bat. Also from memory Reflected told me can close radiator after takeoff. But right through campaign I was overly paranoid blowing engine so was bit too conservative with engine. Such a great plane

Thats the ingame kneeboard. Press "K" in game to bring up. Certain missions will have own pages or you can create own. Shift "K" keeps it on screen. Usually has the map on ther too, if want can press Ctrl "K" to mark you position
