A quirky little DCS Su-25 Frogfoot sortie where some quick tips and keybinds really helped or could have made a difference. This was filmed on Enigma's Dynamic Cold War Campaign server. The DCS Su-25 Grach or Frogfoot is often slept on, it is quite capable and has a much higher thrust to weight ratio than people expect. I hope you enjoy this DCS guide for DCS Multiplayer. THanks

Eagle Dynamics has made it easier than ever to learn DCS because the game is technically free. The game has the F-15, F-16, Su-27, Mig-29, Mig-21, Mig-19, Mig-15, F-86 Sabre, Jf-17, Mirage 2000, F-18 Hornet and F-14 Tomcat. There are soon other modules coming such as the Mig-23 and F-4. Lastly, there are helicopters like the Mi-24 Hind and AH-64 Apache.

Employment for all unguided rockets is the same regardless of type or size: A/G mode, laser on, enter a dive ideally 30-60 degrees and watch the range slider tick down. As it moves below the 3 o'clock position on the pipper, fire, then break off. If the pipper is jumping up and down and the laser status light's blinking, it means there is a conflict between the laser rangefinder and the slant ranging unit and the aircraft is confused which one to use - either your dive is too shallow, too steep, or you're attacking something at a different ground elevation to where you are (it's using the radar altimeter to find one side of the triangle and so hills really mess with it, like the Hind). A/G gun strafing is identical. For CCRP bombing, A/G mode, laser on, place the pipper on your target and then hold the trigger in. That will designate the target, you only need to fly towards that point while still holding the trigger. You'll hear a tone play as you pass the release parameters and then the bombs will automatically release and you can break off. Take note that there's an altitude limit on this mode, though, it's like 4-5km AGL or something. For laser-guided missiles, A/G mode, laser on, slew the pipper to your target and press the lock button. Keep within a few degree cone of said target and when the red light at the bottom right of the gunsight glass comes on, pull and hold the trigger to launch the missile. Keep within that narrow cone of the target until you see impact, then break off.

Mess with the frog, you end up in the bog. 3v1 victories are surprisingly common in it, the players on Enigma's server have a few lessons to learn about not trying to do horizontal 2-circle fights with everything they meet :^)

Couple points: - The sound you heard isn't fire damage. Believe me, if you were on fire, it would be obvious. What it actually is, is flap damage - it seems to be a sound bug as it becomes even worse when landed on the ground. - The fixed net is also kinda shit because there's no way to manually depress it. The boresight for guns/missiles with it is literally where the bottom ring intersects the vertical crosshair. I don't bother using it, I'd rather correct off tracers for gunnery and I use the twin pitot booms and nose IFF antenna as a kind of scuffed backup iron sight for this stuff. - Auto flare dispense is also kinda shit, it pops a pair every second or so. I usually only use it when lazy or at medium alt and trying to bait off potential Stinger shots. When I'm in an actual fight I double-press the dispense button every second or so. - Su-25 nose authority is kinda shit so it can be hard to keep up with aggressive scissors, especially against A-10s, but it out-sustains pretty much anything except a well-flown Sabre or Tomcat. It's a beast. 60% fuel or lower and clean leaves it able to wipe the floor with most things and if two of you are working in the same general area, you can go into a defensive wheel and cover each other's tails easily.

At the end of the day, it's math, the thrust to weight is quite good. It usually carries so much payload so when you drop all that stuff off you get quite light.

I flew a few Frogfoot sorties with only R60s. I think the biggest advantage you have is that people underestimate you. Edit: Also the great number of countermeasures

I never really paid much attention to the FC3 aircraft but this video made me try out the Grach on your server and it really has been a delight. Very easy to learn to fly and fight in, you can be off the ground in just a couple minutes, and get where you're going much sooner than you would in the A-10. It's been a nice reprieve from the hectic nature of the Mig-21 and Mi-24 that I usually fly.

Yeah people often overlook this plane because it is FC3 but I actually think this plane is one of the most fun planes in the entire game. People sleep on it. I am working on a video guide for a2g stuff so hopefully i can release it in time for it to be useful to you

The Rook-A is a VERY good aircraft. I prefer it for air to ground but really fun for anti-ship work.

There's not a lot of frogfoot content, as I guess everybody thinks it sucks because its free, that first f 5 probably thought that was gonna be an easy kill. Please do more in the future!

I fly it almost exclusively on ECW, I enjoy it much more than the fighters on there. On Alpen's I still like it, it's just a bit harder as the competition is much more stiff and finding ground targets takes a lot more coordination with your team. Also, as others pointed out - this isn't the free one. The free Su-25T genuinely does handle like crap because of the additional weight, and has terrible visibility. I much prefer this one, and the 25T was a unicorn in real life anyway... they built 8, lol.

tried yesterday my first ever sortie in your server with the Su-25. I ended up being smashed by a warthog 2 times, but especially one of the two fights was so good! I feel now the need to improve my skills before buying a more a2a focused plane (F1 or Mig21). I can think nothing but jumping again on the pilot seat. Thanks for your efforts!

Hi! i really like the idea of the server, adds new ways to enjoy dcs! maybe could add the A4-EC, it's not a cold war module but adds the possibility to do carrier ops (and its super free)

It is definitely Cold War, the problem is that it's a mod and not an official module. There's no way to enforce everyone using the same version, and anyone without it installed will see a Su-27 in its place, so it will cause enormous headaches and a lot of teamkilling. The team who made it do not wish for any sort of official status for the mod and so the matter is out of even ED's hands, unfortunately.

both the A-10 and Su-25 have the advantage that they have a very small turn radius, so in theory you can win a fight with any highspeed aircraft like the F-5 or mig-21/19

DCS WWII has fallen off since this time last year when Storm of War went down and the 104th has given way to the airquake chaos that is GSW. Enigmas Cold War scratches the mano-a-mano dogfight itch WWII did and the dynamic nature of the 104th. Glad it's gotten as popular as it has.

I got back into DCS a month ago and was surprised the populated Caucasus WW2 servers I was used to are non existent. Cant say I was all that into it and I did get Il2 Bodenplatte, so Im not really feeling much of a loss.

You're also better off at medium alt in the Su-25 (and A-10) as it makes it both easier to spot ground targets, and also avoid any potential Stingers/Iglas as you have more reaction time to work with. I might descend to the deck for a fight to get every bit of thrust or terrain cover possible, but I always start out high.

This is the Su-25, part of the FC3 pack. It is much faster and nimble without any stand off capability or SEAD capability. This is the frogfoot I prefer flying.

SU 25 T is overweight, sluggish and just a pain to fly. The SU-25a is very nice to fly.

I like the Flanker, I really do. I think it is one of my favorite planes in DCS but for the server we have no plans to add it. We have our anchor and we are staying close to it (Mig-21 and F-5). We expect our other anchor will be the Mig-23 and F-4.
