See all of the DCS Super-Carrier features on the E-Shop at the link below and keep an eye out on ‪@EagleDynamicsTV‬ or ‪@MattWagner‬ for a possible update video as we get closer to the release date. This has been an amazing module for me, and my group of guys I fly with enjoy it still to this day. The updated features are only going to enhance that experience.
I think it's important to realize that many of the features promised in May of 2020 were concepts or goals at that time, and the ED Development Team was confident they could accomplish such a "wishlist" of items we are about to see become reality. Between the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the additional considerations or delays caused when several new capabilities were to be added to the DCS Core Engine (Multi-Threading and DLSS to name a few) were things that needed to be accomplished in order to make this improvement, as well as others. Nick Grey told me personally that the investment into finishing the supercarrier has been substantial and more complex than they predicted. But all of this effort goes beyond DCS SC to enhance other modules and systems in our wonderful digital combat simulator. It might be only a game to some, but it's a program like no other. DCS is special...just like all of you!

Your data on the MiG is inaccurate...Top Gun Let's get some facts straight here. The DLC cost $40 and it's four years old. Most of us know why it was delayed and are totally accepting of it for those that don't understand they should just go play War Thunder. Can I provide you a link?

I really enjoy the Supercarrier and don't regret buying it at all. I just wish ED would up the pace of the developments, they've been talking about these enhancements for years but yet to deliver

Sounds good, make sure you read in my description of some of the challenges that they've had with staff affected by the war in Ukraine and the new technological facets that presented themselves and it just made sense to upgrade those and work on those first because they impacted not only the super carrier, but also benefited all the other stuff in DCS.

I think the SC module is fantastic, it features in the majority of DCS missions that I make and fly with friends. It is because I enjoy it so much that my original comment comes more from impatience for new features and not criticism. Great Video - Supercarrier is an absolute must for any F/A18C or Naval jet Driver! Deck crew animation is awesome and gonna be improved soon. Using the PLAT cam in VR is a blast talking your buddies down in SRS! To Anyone sitting on the fence I'd say - You haven't lived until a yellow shirt has told you to unfold your wings! If you've put in the time learning the hornet and its systems you're doing yourself a major disservice not getting Supercarrier. ACLS and hands free traps are worth the time and effort on a dark case III.

I’m surprised at this video’s take on the subject. Even by your narrative, the Super Carrier, as of today, is mostly a cosmetic improvement: track marks, a few crew members and vehicles… nothing in the way of actual functional improvements. The “promise of things to come” and the module model that ED follows has some scenarios where it has worked reasonably well (F-16 and F-18 for example which keep on improving constantly), but a module that has had almost no development (presented to users!… not internally worked on) for almost 4 years in inexcusable. Here the per-model basis really shows its weaknesses: users have already paid for it, so putting more effort in it will just result in salaries needing to be paid with no “new” money in, so they are better off diverting efforts into a new module like the Enterprise that will grab (dare I say “scam”?) users into buying that other early access just to be, again, mostly a cosmetic improvement. And the cycle starts all over… it would be more profitable to move to another module, as most users would have already bought the “alpha” version. Unless ED really commits to regular incremental deliveries with all early access modules, like they do the F-16, F18 and Apache, they will gradually lose credibility with the user base. I, for one, am not falling for the new carrier until I can some of my money’s worth for the supercarrier.

I've had the super carrier module for a while now, and the artistic side of things in this video no where near look like mine. Mine are still, "meh" in comparison. When updates come out, do ALL modules get updated automatically, or do I have to update the modules separately, or do these details simply improve by adjusting the settings page? Also, how do you get these awesome camera views? Where can I find a list of functions to place/pan camera?? I would love to be able to get right on the deck and move the camera around, but I cant figure out the functions to do that.

🙏 Thank you for your comment! When the update comes out, it will update your supercar automatically. As for the quality of your experience, there's definitely a balance of settings that have to be considered. Bottlenecks in most of our computer systems is a real challenge to avoid and tweaking each area to get the view we want and the performance we want is something I've had to work out overtime. I'm going to share two videos with you that have helped me and others very much. The first one is about my viewer settings from a few years ago with my 8700 K with 1080 TI and 32 gig of RAM. the second video is why I recommend people cap their frames per second at a high limit so that their system doesn't jump up and down, trying to get the maximum FPS when there are certain conditions in that will be more than others and that of jumping up and down is what causes stutter sometimes. Is definitely your friend when it comes to searching for tips on how to dial everything in just right. I saw something in an ED forum or newsletter post the other day that said that their goal is to make DCS perform very well on medium to high end computers. I personally feel if someone is trying to do this with a system that is more than five years old, it might not be good enough. As for the camera layout and use, I'm still figuring that out myself. Been using the SC module since release. These updates are fantastic!! I think the only thing I really wish they would add is the ability to shut down specific catapults from both the Air Boss station and the Mission Editor. I would love to set up missions with specific carrier configurations without having to do LUA scripting and stuff. Even if that doesn't come, I still love the module and don't think the sim would be the same without it.

Supercarrier is a great add-on, yes you can jump on the LSO platform in VR, its really awesome to sit there and watch aircraft recovery. Major need going forward is the more spawn locations and ways to allow more players to spawn while prepping the jet for launch. Would love to see the Airboss locatoin have some role in picking spawn locations for jets in a que.

I imagine this was why we saw upgraded visual models for the S-3. Would've looked silly having that low-poly version on an upgraded Supercarrier. Heatblur stated we'd have had an AI A-6 last summer, obviously that wasn't realistic but hopefully we'll se it at some point, as it'd be a great fit here as well.

Lots of causing effect over the last four years with changes and challenges beyond their control. I think they've done a great job of sorting out the developers safety situation created by the war in Ukraine as well as implementing new things that presented themselves that weren't expected when they announce the super released four years ago.

Minor detail, but I think a very likely imminent change is new wet deck textures. It's quietly showed up on two videos on EDs channel now. But yeah I've been waiting on plane directors since November last year. Here's to hoping it makes it in the next patch.

I wasn't sure about the Super Carrier, but I grabbed it anyway, since I really enjoyed the Hornet and always kind of hated the sterile carrier decks, and I definitely don't regret it. Even just having the little extra bits of realism in the form of the deck crew on the catapults makes it so much more enjoyable to do carrier ops. Looking forward to the changes they've hinted at. I believe they mentioned the hand-offs from the deck crew guiding you to and from parking was something that was talked about. It would be nice if we could get some animated static crew too that could be placed on/around the aircraft to look like they are loading weapons, doing maintenance, whatever.

I bought the Super Carrier on sale and don’t regret it. While I mostly fly warbirds, the level of immersion the deck crew brings to the carrier makes lures me to jets. I wonder what the WWII carrier will be like.

Supercarrier is one of those modules where you wouldn't pay full price for it if you didn't have it but once you have it and get used to it, you would pay full price to keep it. Every time I land on a vanilla carrier now I absolutely hate it.

With all the other things in the works and the nature of DCS vs a mere video game, I doubt we will see it in a timely manner like you would expect for a regular video game. But DCS is special and if it does come, it will be over a period of substantial time.

Just to super clear, talking about the arm patch at 3:05. And the super carrier never gets old or boring. Seeing the launch bar going through the groove and activating the hold back mechanism. Just so cool!! As an Ex Janes FA18 Gamer, DCS carrier ops is so far ahead, light years ahead.

Supercarrier is totally worth it. But like so much of DCS you have to do some work. To often people get DCS modules and just expect to fire up the program and have all the stuff just served up to them. Learn the mission editor. Learn how the bits work together. It may seem overwhelming at first but with a little practice you will be able to whip up fully immersive situations on all the maps with all the planes and helicopters.

Hello, Juice, I got say it is a good video and a bit of hope for the future. I've always been a DCS fanboy and an ED apologist, but in light of recent events I've lost all my confidence on ED and excitement for DCS. Just like it happened to you some months ago. We, the community, need to see some real improvements to the core game and the modules we own. There are too many unfulfilled promises and unfinished modules to count, the Supercarrier included. We, the customers, need to see that ED care about us and is not here only for quick cash grabs and then run away, leaving a trail of undeveloped modules behind. But your video made me have a little more patience and hope that things will turn out ok. I'm looking forward to see these new improvements being implemented and confidence on the developer restored.

Hey, good to see you dog… Hope you are well. I would just like to remind everybody to look at the things that came out for improvements to the system and all of the updates of stuff. You have to also realize that the company had to relocate some of its workers because of the war in Ukraine. I've personally become friends with Nick Grey can we speak almost on a weekly basis. He has shared much of the challenges and I can honestly see the passion that he and Igor had when they started the company like a 1999. DC has been around for over 15 years, and Matt Wagner has been with the company over 20 years. they never set out to make a video game… They made the best digital combat simulator that can do stuff that other video games cannot do. It's not for everybody and I understand that. But in light of all the stuff that they have come through and what they give us in the last 15 years, i'm gonna cut them some slack and I am lucky. Lucky that I didn't walk away last year when I thought I was done. Have all the details, but I have the main information on the current situation, and the foul is all on RAZBAMs actions.

Your input was perfect timing as it's been a challenging two weeks. It helped me reflect on what I'm grateful for. I've got a small group of carrier aviation minded guys, and we're going at the pace of the lowest turtles to help them grow. Most of my instructors and I are military pilots or pilots in general, who have instructed, and it's actually rewarding to watch somebody who's never flown a real airplane in a simulation like DCS.

@@AIRWARFAREGROUP in the end, for old dogs like me, DCS is a dream come true. A true 3D "full" fidelity cockpit and systems...man, this was just a dream in the 90's. Looking back the the Jane's games, we indeed came a long way. And here I am, flying the Apache in the CPG seat, complaining that the FCR does not detect anything in this big range I created, really annoyed by it. And then, I rewatched some of the Wags videos and saw that the FCR does indeed detect everything, just doesn't show all targets that are bundled together. I went back to the range, tried it again, and voilá, 113 targets detected. It made fall in love with the Apache again.

The original Stennis was entirely wrong in it's dimensions, too. The super carrier was a huge upgrade when it came out, initially. Yeah it had bugs, but it was worth it...

Its the only way to fly the Hornet. But I still think following the glideslope and ball makes you land long. Perhaps an easy carrier landing mode would make it more accessible for beginners? Same comment regarding AAR.

That's a good point and I'm wondering if individuals different FOV settings are changing the perception compared to someone else with a different setting. That's a darn thing about computer programs is that it is code and not real visual stimuli.

Somethings are not capable due to software engine restrictions as I found out working for Bohemia. EDGE is optimized to give us all the subsystem capabilities like radar, weapons, fusing, Errol, dynamic, efficiencies, and weapons effects, and a lot of little things that go with a typical video game aren't really the focus of DCS as it's not really a video game. Although you could use it like a video game if you want.

This is completion of the module from the first inception. If you look at the website, you'll see that some features were released with early access and some were developed throughout the process whereas others are still to be updated and that's what's coming as the near completion of the module Within a month or so 👍 the only reference to standalone is that the giveaway from the other video is for the standalone version only. The update to supercarrier will affect all DCS players.

Perhaps, it's difficult at first for me but became second nature with practice. I find it easier to build a basic template and then add upon it after pasting it into a new mission. Sorry to hear that...if you ever decided to venture into jets...I would highly recommend the F/A-18C Hornet. It's my favorite aircraft in that category. When the Blackhawk comes officially to DCS, I hope they have the UH-60M, MH-60, SH-60, and HH-60G across the spread of variants. HH-60G is my favorite helicopter.

I'd like to learn more about that. I have a mission that we've tested up to eight or 12 spawns that are working. I think once we get past eight spawns, the next four guys spawn on the catapults.

@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Yeah, and if you want to block off CAT 1 or 2 all the way to the bow with parked aircraft for immersion it is a convoluted process as you also have to block every single parking spot associated with the blocked Cat or the AI will launch right through the static aircraft along the bow

It is a very nice module indeed... But I dont get it why they always talk about boss station, lso, ready room..... When there is still this clunky spawn point "system" in there. Why is it still not possible to populate the carrier with spawn points like on the shore airports? Its progress is quite slow but it is still an awesome addition to DCS.

💯 Currently both AI and client Tomcats tend to break the SC. Crew stops responding to planes waiting to launch, JBDs get stuck in the raised position, and I just noticed the other day the F-14 launch bar animation is nowhere near the shuttle on hook up and launch

Yes, this is basically most of the features that were showcased four years ago, but with upgrades to the core engine required, and all of the performance improvements that were worked out first, and impacts from the war in Ukraine, that caused a dislocation of some of it developers, it took about four times as long and as many resources to make happen with ED envisioned. They had a dream and instead of saying, we can't do it, they said how can we do it no matter how long it took. Nick Grey told me himself that it will probably be about 90% complete when this comes and I'm anticipating soon.

They're doing fine work. It's just that people think it's just a video game and it's much more than that. I am most interested in the hangar deck, and elevators working and having planes getting pushed around to the elevators. I feel this module is the most disappointing for me, but after reading and understanding the technical challenges that ED had to overcome to get this to become the vision they had hoped for, is making me feel much better about the investment. I do hope this will become fully fleshed out soon.

I think they shared with me some of the challenges so that I could help spread the information and it makes total sense to me that when half your team has to relocate because of the war and that new software processes present themselves and it makes sense to make those upgrades first before continuing development on other stuff like this. The Super Carrier is a simulation within the simulation... IT IS EPIC, and I'm glad ED is adding functionality to it. From the Plane Guard Helo to aircraft launch recovery to the escort ships and all the deck crew tasks.... are you kidding me!, so much potential in just this one module, ED has the opportunity to put a stranglehold on the gaming simulation industry. Can you imagine being the Helmsmen while that beast is rolling 30 deg. in a hard to port turn!!... in a STORM! Would love the following: - Navigation Control (simple Steering and Speed! control) - Task Force Control (able to send escort vessels on a vector - if the vessel is in the Carrier Group, you have a box with the list along with speed/heading that is tuneable!...and add an aircraft onboard list to that) - Simple Radar (to see other ships and aircraft) If ED implements this type of functionality they can add another $30 to the module. Great work AWG!

The Zeus type control and combined arms integration is going to be a game changer. I appreciate your patience and passion and a few people haven't tied in all of the world events plus all the changes to the court game and that had to be done in order to pave the way for these changes to take affect. I commend the developers on having the vision for years ago of what they wanted to include with the supercarrier and had the courage to put out their goals without even having a roadmap, how to get there. that shows you that they have the confidence that if they dream it, they can build it. You look at the war in Ukraine, the pandemic, and the upgrades that presented themselves in the last two years for quality improvement of the base core software, you'll see that there was a lot of stuff that Eagle dynamics has given us progressively over the last four years, which is remarkable in the face of the challenges.

Sorry man, but I completely disagree with this video. The Super Carrier has been out 4 years now, and ED is in no hurry to finish any of the features they are describing. I absolutely do NOT recommend it , as ED has little financial incentive to finish it. The fact that they are asking $39-$49 for this is a joke in my opinion, you can buy fully developed game for that amount of money, not a " module " with a very extremely limited features. Even if it was " feature complete " I don't think it's even close to being worth the amount they are asking, let alone a price increase. I got it for 25 bucks too, and you know for that price it makes these add-on features a little more palatable. I still think a lot of these features should be added to the base game and current free carriers in DCS. I still subscribed to your channel, and I really enjoyed your MIG-23, but regarding the SC, it's an easy " go around " for new players in my opinion.

Hey, I can see your point, but you have to consider all of the stuff that affected it to include half of the development team having to relocate because of the war and all of the new technologies that were developed that actually became available and capable in the last two or three years that needed to be implemented before the development team could pick up the progress on the super carrier. when a road needs paving you have to slow down the traffic on it in order to get the pavement fixed or upgrade it. The core game engine is just like that. Capabilities materialized, and that takes time to implement before you can just enter code in for new stuff and it has to be tested with old stuff. but, you can't expect everyone to understand.

This is so late and so overdue and to be honest, I am not interested in the ready room or the elevators really - these are the sort of things that you may check out once and then never use........wasted effort really. People who use the Supercarrier a lot are serious flyers who want the MOST realistic simulation of Naval aviation they could get. So effort should have been focused on the ATC, Proper greenyboard, maybe making setting up deck templates easier, so they can be chosen from radio menu etc, Deck crew guiding you to and from parking slots etc etc .......I feel.

I can see how you'd feel that way, but a lot of people aren't aware of all the different things that happen in the last four years but affected this.

SC is boring.. it's a complete bitch to set up for mission editors. We need more control of aircraft placement and launching order.

I've been able to copy my template for the carrier deck and paste it into other missions and maps.
