#latte #De'LonghiECP3420
I’ve owned this espresso machine for over 5 years but haven’t used it for long long times. I’m a latte lover, and wanted to make my own latte at home. It’s time to bring it back on the coffee station and practice more before upgrading the new one 😁
Espresso machine: De'Longhi ECP3420 Bar Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Machine, 15", Black
Coffee beans: DAZBOG COFFEE

The music sounds like the soundtrack to a movie about a boy learning baseball from the ghost of his dead dad, so that he can lead his team to victory in the last game of the season. And it ends with the boy finally being able to accept his stepfather

What's the secret for the milk to foam like that? I have tried either inserting just the tip of the steamer and inserting it close to bottom.. I'm using whole regular milk
@PitchayadaJ
@PitchayadaJ 2 года назад
Hello! as I’m not an expert, but what I did; I just inserted the steam wand tip under the milk surface (maybe ~1 cm) not too deep. Angle the steam wand into 45* and I kept it to the left side of the jug. Steamed for about a minute or until you get the right temp(~60-70*) the milk will be hot but you still can touch the jug. You also can search for how to steam milk videos as well so you can see better.

Make sure the milk goes in a spiral direction and at an angle. Like water swirling down a drain. Good luck.

I found if i intentially keep the water level low it helps reduce the wateri'ness - but am not able to quite get it condensed enough tasting to what I would expect from a cafe when I order an espress ie- single shot. Cafe style is almost syrup level but this tastes more like a triple shot americano. Do you have any advice on how to get that level of thickness - or is this machine just too low end? the other concern I have is the plastic components; mine puts off a bit of a 'plasticy' aroma and I can't quite put my finger on if that is also affecting flavor - it tastes ok but i almost don't trust it and so this kinda affects the experience obviously.

Keep in mind, this model is one of the least expensive from the company, so you can't expect the perfect espresso + milk froth. Although, I have this machine myself and I have never had an issue. When I first started out using it, it took lots of trial and error before I really can figure out what works best for me in terms of how much coffee you put in, the weight you put when you use the tamper and your technique when frothing. This machine also can't hold as much coffee, so it does come off more watery because of it depending on how much coffee you put in your cup. Smaller shots make for stronger flavour/aroma with this one. I can't say I have a plastic taste or smell with my machine though, so I would reach out to the company. Or it could even be your coffee!

Stupid question, but does the steamer add water to the milk, or is it just a steaming process that creates the foam
@PitchayadaJ

It’s adding air to the milk and create the foam.

@PitchayadaJ
@PitchayadaJ 2 года назад
Hi I’m not an expert so don’t know for sure but saw many videos they do this to make the cup warm before making espresso. (Like the make the cup has the closest temp as the espresso so the espresso tastes best I believe)

@@PitchayadaJ Whole milk makes better foam. Also if you rinse out the milk frothing pitcher with water and then add the milk, better foam is made. I also heat my milk in a microwave for 30 seconds(not using the metal frothing pitcher obviously) on max power prior to foaming. Then this preheated milk takes less time to foam. Just some random thoughts. Great video!

On this specific model ( I just got mine yesterday) when placing the filter holder into the boiler outlet, how far do you have to turn it and is the handle supposed to be twisted all the way until it’s straight ? Because if I do that it gets harder to turn it in place and I’m afraid I’ll break it
@MrScarfaceX
@MrScarfaceX 2 года назад
you are putting too much coffee in the filter. Too much makes it harder to twist.

I think this is wrong advice. Temperature of the coffee extraction is around 90c. Once you turn the knob to steam, machine heats up to around 130c. If you extract coffee right after steaming milk, you are over extracting coffee with high temp water ans over extraction = bitter taste
