Something that hits me different is the Unknown's lore: most Killers come to the Entity willingly (e.g. Deathslinger), or step into the Fog and just eventually surrender to the Entity's impulses (e.g. Legion). Pinhead basically comes to the Entity's Realm to take a break from his usual business. Because he didn't get pulled in here by the Entity, but by the Lament Configuration, he's exempt from all the usual rules, which is how he's able to drag Survivors to Hell in his mori. He just plays along because he finds it fun (presumably). But The Unknown? The Unknown was screwing around with a journalist who was investigating it, and defined it. Doing that invited The Unknown's attention, which is a death sentence. However, before The Unknown was able to land the killing blow, the Entity saw what was happening and *dragged* The Unknown, kicking and screaming, into the Fog. Not to spare the journalist of course, but because it wanted to make use of The Unknown in it's own realm. The Unknown didn't want to come here. It wanted to stay in it's own world, tormenting and killing those who dared to investigate and define it. But it's here anyway. And that means it's possibly the most pissed off of *all* the Killers. "I will not be denied my happiness."
@@justaguywhoisakillerforfun605Oni maybe be the "most pissed off" but he is in a way it helps him, UNKNOW its the most pissed off killer that cant help with it, and will stay that way forever, Oni can be the most but its against survivors. UNKNOW ITS PISS OFF AGAINST THE ENTITY ITSELF.
@@estrelaplatinada6506 Oni is pissed against the entity too, in his map description, The Sanctum of Wrath, it is said that the Entity has changed and twisted a shrine that the Oni revered, making him angrier than he already was, and I don't suppose he's thankful for what the Entity has done to him either, Unkown might be revolted that he was taken without consent or something like that, but Oni is on a different level. Also, even though his anger can be beneficial to him, in a way in the trials, doesn't mean that he likes what he's doing, or that he likes being angry 90% of the time, in terms of comparison, Oni is the most pissed dude, at the trials, at the survivors, at the Entity, and at the realm.
And the cycle continues: -The community will complain about Chase's music. -BHVR changes the music. -When the new music arrives the community will go into a collective frenzy and they will simply start to miss the old music.
They should just bring any composer to co score with Michael F. April just they got Akira Yamaoka (Who scored Silent Hill games) for Silent Hill chapter.
The thing people need to understand about the quote "dishwasher" chase musics is that. The other ones felt like noise for the sake of noise. This one, doctor's, and singularity's(arguably) all feel like the noises they invoke feel very intentional and well thought out. Also, this one isn't an earpiercing track to begin with. I quite like it, actually.
Yessss, I really liked Alien's music on PRB for example (it was actually better than the official severs) But there's always someone annoying to say "no"🤷♂️
I swear the dbd community would be happy if they replaced every killers chase music with calming beats to relax and study too. No one understands what tone or atmosphere is
@Marcellin6D I get what they going for with the PTB version of alien's chase(it's actually a reference to isolation). But objectively it didn't sound that great(to me at least). But I do respect your opinion.
For all the people complaining about it being a washing machine, this is the first killer that actually works with it and isn’t meant to be epic or goofy, it’s meant to be scary, it’s meant to be creepy and it works with that cryptid vibe
@@ghostdoom3218 So you're trying to say that Alien's PTB theme was like a horror movie stinger sound playing repeatedly? Gee, I WONDER why people found it annoying to listen to constantly.
@@MrMegakeke1999 Just because it sounds more interesting, doesn't mean it's not painful to listen to for a long chase. Use common sense. It's completely possible to make chase themes that are both intimidating and don't cause physical pain, for example Spirit's theme. Also, even if a chase theme sounds scary, it'll no longer be frightening by the tenth time you go against a Killer.
This fits the idea of an urban legend style killer, layer 4 sounds like a chase through the woods thinking "what is that thing, why is it human-looking, how can it move like it does?". The chase builds uo really well with the fast change between 2 and 3 since it goes from eerie to terror endusing
This is, in my opinion the creepiest Terror Radius by far. The chase music is also very unique, fitting Unknown's crazy appearance. Don't listen to the "Dishwasher" people.
It sounds uncomfortable, disorienting, and incredibly chaotic, I can't think of a way to make the chase theme fit better than this mess does. Saying "Mess" in the best way possible here.
if you muffled this one it sounds the closest to a washing machine on spin cycle then any one we've had in the past.. shout out to bhrv for not giving us a 1 seconds loop chase music. instead we got a 3 seconds loop awesome... what happened to blight chase music and slinger and nemesis type music
Layer 2 fits so much with The Unknown. It's as if this horrid monster does not fully understand how the human body works and its raggedy body is struggling to let out a breath. Layer 4 kinda doubles down on this and now the monster is furiously breathing down like a raging beast but you can also hear some kind of muddled echoed voice in the background calling to you, trying to deceive you to turn around and look back.
If one of yall say that this music needs to be reworked. You all are gonna feel my wrath LMAO. It fits this killer so perfectly. It has that wilderness vibe and like that feeling you get when you see a complete and ugly monster in a movie
@buffers1013 pretty sure there are 3 teams that each get a turn on making the new chapter. I'm also pretty sure people who made dredge also worked on singularity and now unknown
Honestly pretty good! Though I think I’d prefer the chase to have an extra instrument to really hammer home the “that is NOT supposed to move that way” feel, rather than just a literal machine hammering.
I agree, I hate when we get really good potential with PTB tracks and then due to people not immediately vibing with the theme the composer gives us something completely different and we lose out on the potential of tweaking the first iteration a bit
The "washing machine" people gotta be the most boring ever. This fits perfectly with how distorted and uncanny The Unknown looks when moving around. I swear some just lack awareness that its a horror game.
My shirt get distorted and uncanny while moving inside a broken washing machine so it indeed fits Im not saying its bad, its just look goofy when you think about a washing machine while hearing this chase theme
@joaovitorsantosdasilva7865 except I'm not going to because it doesn't come to mind. Some DBD players both never wash their clothes to know what a washing machine sounds like, and can't think of a better joke/complaint beyond that. It's the "joke" and lack of constructive criticism that ruined two different killers' chase music.
@@franciscoaguilar2597 well the community part is out of knowlodge since im not even part of it, i just received this video, saw a comment saying "its looks like a washing machine" then i checked the chase theme and laughted Just making clear that: 1. Not everyone will find a joke funny 2. Some people making the washing machine joke arent rlly mad or angry about this music, they just find it funny that it sounds like washing machine
This chase music is interesting because it's probably the first chase music where the second layer has a hard-to-follow melody, but it's not a super easy repetitive drum track. It's like a bass of actual music with creepy periodic noises. Then it builds up in a very intense, pressing way. It's very unusual. Much more worked than some of those "washing machine" songs we got in the past (GF, Hag, SM, Singularity, etc.) and the very fleshed out/"melodic" terror radius (Wesker, Xeno, Chucky)
This is also one of those musics that sound better in game then on its own. This killer has a lot of ambient noise it makes. Just like Chucky and Singularity
I fucking love it. The terror radius it's like you heard something "Unknown" wandering arround the forest. And the chase represents your urge to run back to civilization after it spotted you.
This chase theme is very well done, it’s fits perfectly with how eerie it is. It invokes the thought of something that is not meant to be here, not meant to be alive, yet somehow it is, and it’s chasing you from within the skin of another human, but despite that, it looks as tho it’s merely wearing to hide whatever’s inside. And what’s inside is well… unknown.
Jesus FUCK Layer 2 is creepy. It is just the perfect musical equivalent of "This thing is wrong, it should not exist, but it does... And it's looking for me."
Layer 1 to 3 are the best and fit this killer, seeing as how it's being depicted as an unknown uncanny creature. Layer 4 just needs to have a bit more work done on it just so that it sounds a bit more intense while also sounding unsettling like the other 3 layers.
@@ThePressureKing I'm not, I'm just stating my opinion of the chase music which is mostly positive. The only thing that needs to be edited on is just Layer 4, nothing else.
this is probably just me but this chase music feels wrong, in a good way, like you have seen something you should not have. this really fits the killer too well.
It sounds like a screen door being banged on repeatedly, I love it. It sounds like you’re in a quiet residential area and all of the sudden something wants to break in!
@@GaffivoryWrong, xenomorph actually sounded like the alarms, and also fit the whole franchise while being like a horror stinger theme such as psycho. Stop making the game an action game and putting in resident evil music
Layer 1 - S+ Layer 2 - S+ Layer 3 - S+ Layer 4 - S+ I dont know what to say... I am really suprised... It fit on him so well... Devs finally did a fitting layers! I think the unknow could be make more darker like in the Picture because in game... yeah it looks creepy but can be more creepy if it make more darker like in the picture
tbh i just care abt it being satisfying idk why but pyramid, singularity, ptb alien, old ghostface are all good and THEY BETTER NOT REWORK THIS CHASE THEME
If Behaviour can have celebrities or well known actors like Bruce Campbell, Nicholas Cage, Brad Dourif, and Jennifer Tilly in DBD, then they should just bring in well known composers someone like Marco Beltrami, Tyler Bates, Charlie Clouser, Joseph Bishara, or anyone to co score with Michael F. April.
@@ThePressureKing I'm saying that they should just bring in or hire any professional or highly skilled composers that should co score with Michael F. April just like how they got Akira Yamaoka for Silent Hill chapter.
Anytime a song isnt "musical" enough, people immediately jump on the hate wagon. I hope this stays as-is. I love the incorporation of grinding, metallic groans like old machinery of a rusty barge, the scraping and the bizarre chase sequence.
The people who hate this a r people who expect it to sound like a my little pony intro. I feel the anxiety more and more each meter, 16 meters with that eerie sound. Idk what it is but it definitely works! Like he’s literally named “The Unknown” and he looks distorted asf. The music sounds so good!
I can't explain just how *good* the Unknown's music is in terms of representing it, but I'm going to try because this is my hyperfixation at the moment lmao - Layer 1 feels like the unease someone would feel seeing an inhuman shape a good distance away from them. It's ambient, unsettling, and vague. You get no information from it. - Layer 2 is really good at mimicking the walking animation of the Unknown. It's jerky, yet it feels like it's dragging. Like how when the Unknown walks, it twitches sporadically, but also drags its feet kinda. It fills you with a feeling of dread. - Layer 3 is really tense, like "oh shit it's coming closer". The sharp, constant sounds on top of the ambient music really get your heart pumping and you're on the edge of your seat, ready to run. - The chase theme itself is really good at capturing both the intensity of layer 3 with the snare-like drilling, while still incorporating the way the Unknown moves with the dragging, rough sounds from layer 2.
I think this music is actually quite appeasing and it reminds me a bit of the old ailens theme. I feel like its music fits it and it should stay the way it should. Its fine as it is ❤
This is the first DBD song that I've ever came back to listen to on repeat. There's this sinister aura flourishing throughout this melody. The strings feel somber, yet makes you feel uneasy. Then, in phase 4, all of the cacophony that was built up comes exploding with an anxiety inducing synth and drum kit. This is my favorite killer song for sure. I can't wait for this killer in March.
Terror Radius: Outlast 2 Chase Music: Little Nightmares Killer: Little Nightmares Map: VHS (The game that got slain bby DBD) Survivor: Charmcaster from Ben10 Any oppositions?
I love it. Its scary af and captures the essence of the character. Pls don't listen to the community in this one and change this into a generic and boring chase music T.T
I feel like the chase music is good it’s just feels unfinished in my opinion the chase music sounds like it could be terror radius more than a actual chase music it feels like it’s missing something tho
Tbh I really like his 16m terror radius. These sudden yet rythmic strokes of a cello bow just make it seem like "something" is trying to copy a normal behavior, but can't. But they really messed up on the chase part.
i genuinely think this is a really good chase theme, the spooky and eerie vibe fits him so well, and i like how it's kind of got a similar thing with deathslinger, where they incorporate the other sounds and notes used in the previous layers to make it sound less repetitive, and while i wouldn't say it's one of the best, it definitely is up there for me in one of the better chase songs
Ok so people always say Washing Machine like a bunch of 5 year olds who don't understand how music layering works. Yes, there is a repeated cycle going at the same bpm throughout the chase music, but there are many many layers going at the exact same time, adding depth to it. Michel Is a fantastic composer, who adds character to the chase music, like this one.
Y'all have to understand that, while it's true that it's a little annoying to hear complaints all the time, survivors aren't the only ones hearing chase musics, killers are too. And some people in this game prefer playing killer, which is a role that can be anxiety inducing when you're facing a good team, or worse, a bully squad. I speak from experience. So if you add in the background a chase music that is repetitive or that sounds like a "washing machine" or an alarm, it adds to an already stressful or frustating situation. With that said, I adore this chase theme, especially the first 3 layers. I will definetly be bringing a stealth survivor build for the PTB so I can hear them more often. Layer 3 sounds similar to the "Killer is near" theme in Penumbra Black Plague which is a game I hold dear. Although, I have to admit, there's nothing more disturbing then to see that thing shamble towards you in silence. *But* I think one of the 3 main percussions you can hear in layer 4 needs to go, or at the very least be muffled. I think the fastest one you can hear would be the best choice, because it would make the chase strangely slower and quieter. I think it would let the uncomfortable feeling of the first 3 layers linger while still sounding like a chase. It also overtakes the eerie sort of screech or sigh you can hear in the background. I absolutely do not want the first 3 layers to be changed in anyway, but I think layer 4 needs a tweak.
