Ties well into the lore as well! Oni was wrathful and violent before the entity took him, while Spirits lore is so sad - she was killed by her hateful father while she tried to defend herself. You can really hear the lore in the tracks which I'm so happy about! So excited to hear this in game!
It really feels like it represents her family and who she is as the shattered end to her family reflected in every aspect of her compared to oni. Oni is whole, a beast of unfathomable hatred, spirit is broken and destroyed, holding onto her grandfathers fury as if it’s the only thing allowing her such gruesome vitality and the courage to commit such revenge every single moment of her harrowing existence as the broken pieces of a warrior family.
Oni’s sounds brute and scary and powerful its the type to make you wanna hide like a god almost it fits his giant and powerful character but spirits feels more unsettling like shes right behind you that whole run just run you better run feeling
Lmao I can picture wraith going fucking ham like a heavy metal drummer but his instrument works the same as a triangle so it’s just him standing in place full send on a bell
Looks like they really wants to make Spirit non-hated. They added counterplay for her power, and now she got pretty cool unique chase music too, which will make any killer more pleasant to play against.
Spirit already did have counter play but a lot of it was 50/50 so I think it was the right decision to rework her but I love that they are giving killers chase music. I think that even if the reworked killers in a developer update already have music just give a different killer music like wraith or legion
@@GageB10100 Honestly this is really wierd that Legion didn't got anything from this giant update. They really need some major changes. I hope that we will see their rework or at least some buffs soon.
@@rainvax4121 We already got 4 killers with significant changes, which is a huge step up from the previous (mid-)chapters with only one killer getting updated. Maybe next mid-chapter we will get a killer rework for them ala Freddy so they don't feel like dogshit to play against.
I love how the bells in the close terror radius have cultural significance in Japan, which is warding off evil spirits, which is ironic but also a nice touch
@@difference3maker36 Never say never. Behavior has been keen on working on updating their game to meet a more modern look. Given the success of this game. Its very well possible in the next MAJOR chapter; we'll see the introduction of unique killer themes for all the original killers prior to Blight.
@@ponglenis9273 I disagree. I think they all need unique themes to avoid being bland. Trapper's kinda the only one I see getting a pass on this front, since he IS the face of the game.
Nemesis still has my favorite music by far but I'd have to put Spirit right under My music list S Nemesis A Spirit, Oni, Pyramid, Michael, Demo(ptb version), Twins. B Hillbilly, Clown, Trickster. Demo (live) C Blight D Pinhead F Doctor
I believe they pair the new music with reworks or at least significant changes to killers (aside from entirely new ones of course), so as much as I would LOVE every killer to have their own theme and my favourite doesn't have their own either idk if they'll do it? I think there's an old Q and A of someone asking about if they would redo all of them n said it's something they aren't planning on. RIP
@@bakunnn2239 oh that, I've always heard that as the dead by daylight theme, never dbd chords. That's cool how they implemented that into the chase music
I'm genuinely a little terrified listening to this with the full chase music. That haunting screaming sound with the bells drowning it out is terrifying. Sounds like something you would hear in the climax of a Junji Ito title
3:33 Wraith is going ham on his bells, Hillbilly is hitting something furiously, Trickster is teaching the Doctor how to create music with pure electricity And Spirit is trying to sing in the background... PERFECT
@@rootiyk5032 I feel like legion wont fit for making song like this, they probably add bassline that somewhat add rock/metal/or punk taste into it But if it's trickster, I imagined his music taste are broad than that four teenagers, and probably would blend casually even for music like this genre. In this head comment context, I feel like the bassline was the trickster that taught the doctor on how to play music with his electricity like tesla coil in low notes
Nemesis and Spirit officially sound like they have Final Boss music and are both fun to go against. I can't wait for the release. This is literally one of the best chapters and patches of all time. BHVR actually took this up a notch which blew everyone out of the water
This is a VERY good patch but unfortunately boon totems are completely abusable and absolutely broken but I trust that they will fix it. I actually love what they’ve done with spirit.
You dont have to worry about anything, with unique themes coming to many killers (doctor didnt have his own before) every killer will be unique. BHVR is actually fixing their game
@@K1mberlyEl3ase hope so but usually the killer has to get some hefty changes to them to get there own music, spirt didn't get a giant change so I feel like if they do major buffs or Nurfs to killers they will add music for them, I was hoping plauge would get one as well or trapper since they got big buffs but I suppose not
0:00 It is the Spirit 1:07 She is getting closer 2:14 She is looking for you 3:21 Kazan's Yamaoka's Granddaughter is after you to Shatter your bloodline
0:00 sadness/tragedy stemming from her mother being murdered before her eyes and the betrayal of her father who then kills her. 1:07 anger slowly builds up as she reminisces about all the pain and disappointment she’s been through 2:14 her ancestor’s (Oni) wrathful curse passes down to her as she gains her powers 3:21 she lets loose all of her anger, pain and blindly sees any living human as an abuser not being able to tell the difference between innocence and guilt
I do love the genuine mix of culture related to her origins with the themes of actual haunting, sets her apart from Oni in terms of supernatural entities. She might be Rin Yamaoka but she’s also a spirit haunting the realms. Good representation of themes.
As much as I don't like playing against Spirit I must admit she's the best original killer in the game, her design and lore are amazing and this chase music lives up to it, very epic.
And the train crash incident was blamed on Spirits dad, causing him to get fired for something he didn’t do, becoming the last straw that made him snap.
@@tofferooni4972 I don’t know if that part makes sense because spirit’s dad was blamed for a defective product line. Trains don’t really count as that.
As much as I love this theory sadly this is most likely not the case as the backstory mentions she parked her bike in the shed when she heard her mother’s screams, so she drove to work and back home on it that night. Perhaps this happened at some other point of her past though, just not at the day/night of her murder.
i find it so odd that she doesn’t have one since she’s newer than the doctor yet he has his own unique chase theme. i know once she gets one, it’ll sound super cool
This is such an amazing track. The bells really add a sort of holy feeling to the piece. Yet it's still so terrifying, like you can feel her pain and rage, but underneath she's really just a girl who wants justice.
Damn Spirit really has been redeemed this mid chapter and as always the music team has delivered quality goodness. Edit: almost a year later and I wanna say while Spirit still sucks she’s definitely better now. While her being redeemed would be a huge exaggeration she was redeemed in one thing and that her chase music slaps at least. Michel knows what’s good.
@@microwave4928 I play on console so I can’t play the ptb myself so I’m not gonna make an opinion on boon totems until the update releases to the public
@@microwave4928 I have and it also looks like it takes forever to bless a totem so all the killer has to do is run undying and they can interrupt the progress easily. While yes these boons look stupid as hell they can always buff or nerf something when the mid chapter comes out like how certain perks were overpowered in the ptb but were nerfed to the ground on release so we shall see.
01:07 is the scariest part of the chase theme for me, it's like she's sensed where you are and now her vengeance begins and then the little bells ringing in the next part. Almost like her hearts speeding up as she senses you.
I’m really happy that they made Spirit more interesting, now I think that Spirit will be less hated! Her chase music is like a mixture of Onis, Tricksters, and Pyramid heads, I love it!
Massive respect for sticking with her despite all of the nerfs. Then again, you've probably been able to dominate games as her. Hope these nerfs don't affect her max potential too much.
@@MM-qs1nu haha I appreciate it, but yes, majority of my games I "dominated" but there are definitely some people that know how to out maneuver me, even though I get dirty. But my my matches typically end under five minutes XD unless I go against a really good team.
@@MM-qs1nu Also a day one Spirit main, I truely felt her first Buffs were so unnecessary but soooooo many people were certain she was Weak. She literally had the counter play at first and imo a better, longer cooldown. When you main her and do some tricky dick stuff it makes games short as heck
I like how spirits theme is all about chaos, urgency and vengeance at anyone who she finds where as Oni is just pure calculated murder. Reflected in Onis theme too.
0:01 eyo whats thats lady doin over there 1:07 she phasing outta existence bro wut 2:15 yo these bells kinda go hard tho 3:22 OMG DUDE SHES GONNA MURDER ME These are all things my friend said the very first time he first played dbd against a spirit.
As an early dubstep lover, this tune spits actual fire 🔥 can’t believe I’m in the timeline where spirit will be fun to play against and her theme kicks fucking assssss
in my opinion, this is the most impressive chase theme of the behavior original killers. it fits her lore so perfectly, it’s threatening but still catchy, and it’s very distinctive
I went up against a beginner spirit player today, didn't even know she had new chase music. I was straight up vibing hearing this music while looping that spirit
Damn, this chase music is just perfect. The instrumentals are very Oni-like and remind you that while this theme is pretty different to Oni’s, he’s still present. He’s still in there, fuelling her rage. The almost wail-like sounds in the main chase theme are mostly lower pitched, mirroring her emotions of sadness, dread, despair, and then on the occasion the pitch heightens which tells you that while she’s in deep despair, she’s also very angry because of her father, and her bloodline. I loved Jon’s chase theme for her and hoped that they would give her that, but after hearing this more and more I think it just ties in with her lore and character far better because while it’s mostly her theme, Oni is there too. I love it.
I think I understand what they were going with here, in my previous comment I said that the 8 metres part sounds a bit toned down however I think that they wanted to represent J horror, the reason it drops a bit at 8 metres is because in J horror there is always an element of unpredictability especially with supernatural beings, its meant to bring that feeling that you are getting away but its just that the ghost is about to pop out of nowhere. I'm really sad that element of surprise is gone with hern
