Not only did they convert it to a 6 cylinder head they added 2 more valves per cylinder 😮It is now a 4 valve 6 cylinder head with a lot less deck material on it ….
Congratulations you turned an L series Toyota head in to a jo series hino that fire mustn't have been to pre heat the casting it must have been to perform some kind of witch craft 🤔
I worked in a cylinder head repair shop for like 6 years we did the furnace welding of heads ...its awesome to see that process being done ...not many places in the US do it any more because of the low cost of the aftermarket...but the oldschool heads that are not reproduced do still get welded 👍
this is the way rural america did things in the old days. a farmer might be a 100 miles or more from a repair shop, if you could afford it. you had machine equipment, spare parts and a welder and you did it yourself. love to watch this stuff, much respect!

This was the most amazing thing I have ever seen! With minimal tools, and a crude welding tools, they were able to turn a 8 valve head into a 24 valve head, Amazing!!
Welding or brazing cast iron needs the metal to be preheated. He has filled the ground-out area with braze (brass). He’s made it look easy. It isn’t. It’s a shame we didn’t see the finished job surface gound.
These Guy's are doing amazing things, despite not having a massive assembly line with Multi million Dollar technology. They are keeping their Costs Down and getting the Job done.
That first 4 cylinder head they started attacking with that grinder will never ever be reliable again. Cutting into valve seats like that is just about as rough as it gets. Even the second head they had on the surface grinder at the end looked passed it’s best. They removed a LOT of material to get that surface flat.
@Arman Arashvand those are safety sandals 😉 some similar videos feature a guy who operates a huge lathe wearing a large red blanket dangling from his head, next to the rotating stuff. What could possibly go wrong ?
There is no skill here. The first head they completely butchered with that grinder will have self destructed as soon as it went back on the engine if it ever made it that far and the second one probably wouldn’t have even started after having that head refitted, that’s if the head bolts didn’t bottom out.
Ref the comments 4 to 6 cylinder. Its just a demo to show a finished head. The 4 cyl head would have had new valve seats before the surface was milled. This 6cyl head has already been crack repaired. Its a good repair, its been done to a very good standard, as good as any European (or other) repair shop. The ones doubting it, there's no need to criticise just because they work on the floor/ wear sandals/ have little in the way of tools. Also, it's a cast iron head not aluminium. No need to worry about distortion, there won't be any..
@@Draxindustries1 dude i agree in general they don't but trust me when i ssy i have machined 100's of them. Once the head gasket goes and the drivers dont realize the head is overheating it is way to late. I've had heads so warped it bend the exhaust manifold studs which cracked the manifold. By this time no machining can be done. It's wasted
they r genius!! Show magic!! that 4 cylinder conversion 6 cylinder, its no scam this is reality magic no have any trick.. good job your vedio.. show me more magic.....
Caterpillar does this in special ovens its called fusion oven welding of cast iron and it doesn't weaken the cylinder heads its extremely effective replacing worn out or damaged material.this method is just a crude method but same result and he didn't use bronze it was steel
Show us what you did to fix the original cylinder head. I was well impressed to see the welder filling the void with what looked like a chunk of re-bar.
It isn't the same cylinder head. Now how long do you think that head is going to last? I know that is gonna save you a bit of money, but, for how long? But the question remains, what happened to the original cylinder head?
@@cesarholguin1408 I believe this would hold up for quite some time. This is in a third world country they don't have money so they repair stuff. Impressive how good they are and how easy they make it look.
This video would be more enjoyable if the editing didn't include the video speed being constantly increased and decreased. The annoying sound of the audio increasing and decreasing and going up and down is unnecessary.
30 years ago here in the usa the diesel cylinder heads used to be repaired in an oven with pulverised metal. They worked good. Those skilled people are gone now.
SALUDOS DESDE MEXICO, HE VISTO VARIOS VIDEOS Y SON EXTRAORDINARIOS VER ALGUNAS REPARACIONES QUE SE MUESTRAN Y ES EXCELENTE. UNA PREGUNTA ,,QUE TIPO DE SOLDADURA O METAL SE DERRITE PARA PARCHAR LA CABEZA?? GRACIAS Y SALUDOS NUEVAMENTE
After weld head should be reheated just before melting point to relieve stress on weld and base metal would improve long term durability of repair on diesil engines. Awesome job Salaam Walykum Aki Shalom
Cracks, cracks and cracks...... and amazing what they can do! With Soo little! We in the us couldn't fix it, we have gotten so vein, we like ' it's dirty, through it out, buy a new one! But myself, I grew up having to fix everything, down to hose clamps exhaust pipe clamps! Re ringing engines that should been bored, .010" over max spec, was nothing, I even ' overhauled' lawnmower/small engines, kepttge old rings, just a hone, and 400-600 grit sand paper to clean the rings, and it's good to go for another 10years! Spray paint head gaskets, then reuse, lots crazy stuff, and Speaking of "Head aches" done crazy stuff with heads , trying to get a few mo years out of them on $0 dollars, and no Sense! Haha, some times it ended up costing more than just a proper repair! Intake manifold gaskets don't always reuse successfully!! Haha, awesome work!!
Why does it show us a simple diesel cylinder head being repaired , then when it goes to the head being refaced then it’s a COMPLETE DIFFERENT 4 valves per cylinder bigger DIFFERENT ?? please show us the original head being repaired and refaced please….iį
You're not very good with details are you? The cylinder head at the end wasn't the same one they started with. You're the type of guy to get scammed out of itunes cars by an Indian dude with a thick accent who says his name is Jordan claiming to work for the IRS.
Didn’t you start with 2 x 2 valve 4 cylinder heads……? Why was a 4 valve 6 cylinder on the milling machine AND you’ve got enough money for a flat bed milling machine but you’ve gotta light a fire with charcoal in the dirt to heat it up for welding……… Give me a break.
umm i think someone is pulling a fast one here, the first head was a indirect injected 4cyl diesel head with pre-combustion chambers and the one on the head re-facer was a direct injected inline 6 cylinder diesel head, the 4 cyl looks sorta like a landrover head or could be some japanese head and the second looks like a cummins or similar.
4cyl is an L series Toyota, 6cy is a jo series hino. The L series Toyota heads end up being cheaper and more reliable to just purchase a new Chinese casting and fit all the valve train to it than what it costs just to r/r valve guides , valve springs , pre combustion chambers machine the valve seats , and gasket surface.
Engineers can find a solution to any problem. The reason why this is so difficult to do is the cost of the repair in developed countries is greater than the cost of manufacture.
