A novel was written by one author in my language that is very similar to this story. He said it was a type of witchcraft that was practiced long time ago. The relatives will bury a person not knowing that they didn't actually buried the person. And the person will wake up in another land as slave. Most of the times people don't come back, and if seen by anybody that knows them, they will disappear from that side and not be seen again.

I remember this story. Being Zambian I remember our parents during the time this story broke out warning us to keep away from using lonely path ways as such were used to lure kids in such rituals. it is true and very common. It is called Mutukule. It's were children are lured and turned into an animal or hypnotized and work on farms of people only to wake up years later n discover their family was told they are dead or have been missing for years. I first heard of it in western Zambia. My friend witnessed another such story working in northwestern part of Zambia.

Maybe Winnie Lufunja's spirit/soul took over the other girl's body to resolve some mysteries about the way she died. its called a spirit walk in and according to wikipedia "A walk-in is a New Age concept of a person whose original soul has departed their body and has been replaced with a new, different, soul". This story is so unsolved. Why didn't the police try to solve the issue of the hipsotized farm? This footage reminds me of a book written by a famous African- American writer Tony Morrison called "Beloved". The departed comes back in the form of one that once lived among the living. My theory is this - The girl that returned 2 years later is Minnie Lufunja. I think her parents sold her to the people that enslaved her. After selling her off they were given a dead body to bury so that friends and relatives would believe she's dead. Then the family that came to claim her saying she was their missing child, were sent by the people that enslaved Minnie.... Why wasn't a DNA test carried out on the dead body they assumed? Two things, first I am pretty sure if my child at this age came back I would know that was her. However, it could be a conspiracy that involves a lot of people, police, some rich person who took this girl into slavery and when she escaped they sent this false family to claim her. Imagine if this is a trafficking sort of business it would implicate so many people. I would have insisted on a dna from outside of the country because for this girl to know so much is very curious.

Some people have killed other people and taken their identity, especially when the person is rich or the person (criminal) is just plain jealous of their lifestyle. Don't trust anyone. This reminds me of a weird thing that happened in the camp I stayed in. Three girls had died from three different families on the same day and we had a funeral, cause of death was unknown since most were found dead while sleeping. A few years nearly 3 years past and three girls came from a forest near by and came to the three girls family claiming they are their daughters. We were Soo confused because in my culture during the funeral we literally pass by the coffin and look inside so we knew we buried the right people. They said they never died, that one night while sleeping a voice called their names and when they followed it they disappeared. They don't remember what happened after following the voice, they just came back. My theory is that Winnie Lofunja was killed for ritual purposes. I am from a place where a popular story is being told about a man who died many years ago in a certain state and somehow manifested himself in living flesh and blood in my own state, got married to a woman, bore a child and life was smooth... However it was alleged that this said man came home one day pick his child up and fanished into "thin air" living the woman behind. There is a video game called Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain. I believe that the authorities had more information about what happened than the families knew. Saw almost a similar coverage of a story on here a few weeks ago too. But a guy who also claimed to be somewhere working for someone else and even the boy's uncle was blamed....can't remember the title of that particular documentary but was something along the lines of 'zombies of ....' And I've heard about a few of such cases here in Nigeria...dead people being seen somewhere else far from their original homes only to disappear when they realize someone who knows them before they died just recognized them. My theory is, considering these cases are usually with young dead people, I'd say these guys' spirits somehow lingers around and maybe possesses a body that looks like them and tries to go back home, or in some cases, find a way to be visible and continue to lie as normal humans....in those cases that don't try to go home. Also, these cases of people trying to go back to their families were mainly those whose families miss the most and the person/spirit knows s/he will be accepted back at home... Winnie's spirit possibly possessed the girl, while her real body was buried, her spirit is still leaving in another body. The spirit inside that other body got loss into a yet unidentified body while being hypnotized and winnie's spirit was quick to get into her.
