My daughter came to visit during April of 2017 and I thought it would be a nice idea if we do a Vlog together for my video channel. I was already preparing and for a considerable time as well, to make a video on a Humpback whale that washed out on our shores in 2010. I know that may be a long time ago but firstly it does not take away from the fact that it happened and that the how of the subsequent project will always stay relevant. I have gathered photos on the actual whale before it was removed and then of it when it was removed and how. It was very interesting. But it took me years to actually do this as I wanted to have a certain look and feel to it and provide more info and give some kind of pleasurable and informative experience.
One of the things that I have done prior to making this video was to create an animated map of Humpback Whale migration patterns. This gave me the ability to discuss this in brief. I have also take footage of Humpbacks in their natural environment in different guises. This includes blowing, Tail standing, Tail slapping, Pectoral fin slapping and swimming in formation with a calf. Clips of these are all included in between, at various point as illustration, when I discuss aspects of the whales.
Other material include photographs that I took of a huge size Humpback whale model that is hanging from the roof of the South African Museum in Cape Town. I use my own little model when I discuss the bodily parts of the whale as well.
