When I couldn't find a music video for this song, I decided to make one. I synced a high quality digital audio track of the Dead Kennedys song "Viva Las Vegas" to footage of the band playing the song live in 1981. I added period correct clips of Las Vegas to match the song. Enjoy!

Such a great song that perfectly displays the songwriting ability of jello Biafra. The way he was able to transform a simple Elvis Presley song into a scathing critique on American materialism is beyond me. It is also a wonderful representation of the instrumental ability of Klaus Fluoride and his ability to write infectious baselines. Overall, this is an absolutely brilliant video and deserves so much more praise and attention than it has now.

@@vittoriostoraro That makes it better, he was able to modify words to give the song an entirely different meaning. I’m aware this is an Elvis Presley original.

He used the same lyrics with very little changes. Actually almost zero changes. Might want to look up the lyrics. The only change was the coke line. Lol

They still sound great, but in 1980 they were something else ! You had to pay attention when the Dead KennedyS were on stage. Even the name was outrageous.

I remember when Jello ran for mayor of San Francisco.. Billboards on Market, Van Ness, and Broadway had his advert.. right by our beloved Punk Rock Hangouts.. Fab Mab, Matrix, Old Waldorf, The Pound, DNA, etc. Long live the 70's.. (and please get Jello back in the band. He is the DK!!!)
