You can now download my *Pre-Patched* executable for the E3 2006 Demo, which will unlock this build and allow for many more things to be seen! - Mainly, the removal of any time limits! Download here: deadrising2mods.proboards.com/thread/3315/
Goddamn nice! Thank you for this! You have done so much for this community and without you we wouldn't know i would say half of the stuff we do about dead rising development Here's hoping one day more builds of Dead Rising do leak, I would love to play the TGS build or even 0.50
They were extremely minute changes that had no significant impact on the game. So when a dev or someone claims, 'its only a beta' as if the released game will be in a better state, it's bullshit.
@@BuzzingGoober but this was no beta, it was a demo with monts before releas at best. And things like adjusting enemy AI really make a big difference. Seems like the squeezed the developent time to the final minu te all they could due to release date demands .
The mirror reflections, zombie physics, the day and night changes in the mall, the music it all holds up. It’s pretty funny how this game did more than most modern releases today especially from triple A companies
I think everything holds up great except the in-engine cutscenes. Even back in the day when I first played the game, like 15 years ago, I remember thinking they look funny. Especially the helicopter opening scene.
I love the feeling the first dead rising gives, reminds me of scenes from the 70s Dawn Of The Dead which is comforting. just the idea of being holed up in a secure room in a mall with plenty of food and water but being surrounded by zombies is awesome.
me and my buddy stayed up all night playing this and oblivion the night before GCSE exams, I had the worst migraine the next day to the point I was blind in one eye for a while. RIP Fin... Thinking about you bro.
3:15 i can explain why the font's blurry in game dev terms, they use a rasterized version of the font most of the time and not 'real time' vector fonts for the sake of efficiency, so it's basically like an image per letter that gets stitched together to form words. they used that concept in the beta and also the final build, but it looks blurry when you scale an axis too much over the other axis, in the beta's case the font's height is too big compared to it's width, the final build used the same font but less height and more width
Also can’t deny I miss read the title when it popped up on my phone. Thought it was the 2005 showcase build. I was about to hit the roof with excitement.
Sending love from the UK, been subbed and watching since 2017. rare to find a channel that even touches on the first DR let alone one that uploads to this date, what dragged me in a few years ago straight away. Back in 06 I remember my Dad waking me up as a kid just to show me he got hands on the game after me playing countless hours on the 360 demo. Played the shit outta it since and bought the remastered on PS4 as soon as it came out. I never really comment on videos but after seeing your still doing bits today gets me gassed every time a see a new upload, all the best my g and I beg you don't stop
0:27 It's called a prototype because "beta" and "alpha" are sort of misnomer specifiers usually. A game can be a pre-alpha build up to the final months of development, as you often tend to see with E3 gameplay - games releasing in a matter of months are still labeled "pre-alpha" if they're content incomplete. Some studios don't even really use the "beta" and "alpha" labels to describe their builds and just have build numbers and a release candidate version.
Nice to see another Dead Rising Beta video STIP0 I love them a lot, anything to do with Alpha or Beta builds of games that are not ordinarily accessible to the public, and hopefully one day we will see the 2005 holy grail posted online.
I love studying all games in how they are made, Dead Rising was one of the first Xb 360 games I ever played, I was amazed at an open mall you could do anything in
I got recommended this video a while back and it's been sending me on a binge watch of your whole channel. Just wanted to say your videos rock. As a fellow Dead Rising fanatic I'm really glad to see channels like you still exist, even if you only upload once in a blue moon. Great work 👍
the era of deadrising 1 and 2 were phenomenal for their time i especially have so many memories of DR2 back when it released and i could say it wasn't able to capture that magic afterwards its sad because i look at so many new ips this generation and nothing comes as interesting or innovative
Along with all the zombies movies that were coming out 100% some of the best times as a kid was play dr1 and just killing zombies with different weapons and never actually beating the game haha
Glass cracking instead of shattering when hit with a weak weapon is such a cool attention to detail. I wonder why it was taken out… performance issues possibly?
Usually it's an agreement with the seller Stip got the builds from. Usually so nothing can come back or get the sellers in trouble. Or usually some time has to pass again before it's allowed to be released. But yeah the summary of it is what the seller wants agreed on mostly.
The person who sold it doesnt wanna get clapped should capcom become suddenly angry over these builds and have it traced back to them. Stip probably has an agreement with the seller not to release it.
I have awakened from ancient slumber in a sealed tomb forgotten by time only to watch this video. Thank you so much for your dedication to these videos.
I’m about to blow all of your minds On Dead Rising 1 If you pick up a hunting knife and go outside once you equip it and it shows the item slot on the top right, you can walk around, and a reflection is shown on the knife itself of the surrounding area
Not to sound like a dork, but as someone who still shoots film, the camera having 24 shots makes a lot more sense to me. Rolls of 35mm film commonly come in multiples of 12. All I could find in some quick research was people who rolled film themselves at an advertised length of 30 exposures. I think the 30 was for a sake of balance on Capcom’s end, I’m guessing. A happy medium between too little and too much PP per roll, without having to change PP values assigned to different situations just for the sake of niche realism.
I’ve been a prototype binge (just got done with several Bond prototypes) and this is up my alley too, a bonus if I can get my JTAG to play it (so far the only beta it’s liked was the Pimps at Sea Halo 3 build)
It's 24 film may be to emulate the realistic features the amount of film roll would have. Usually comes standard with 24 exposures or "photos" or 36. Most likely changed due to game mechanic / balancing.
Always interesting to see how many things in development of this game returned in Dead Rising 2. Not only the weapons but now the flashing red damaged items. Very cool to see even more of this. Happy holidays and much more. Always nice to see more info on this old gem
I’m so happy I took the time to finally platinum the game last year and get every trophy took me forever but the heart boxers and lazer sword were worth it
Someone might have said this, but I assume that the camera has 24 shots because that is a film standard. Most rolls of film are either 24 or 32 frames for a standard camera. I would assume they changed the amount to 30 to make it easier for players- a rounded off number versus a “random” number for someone not used to film.
i like it how the 360 dev kit looks custom-made and looks a bit more like a PC. also too about it flashing red when you have a near broken weapon, i remember that being in the final game for DR2, maybe a callback
3:20 I feel like they might have started you with 24 photos in the beta build because that's a very common roll size for 35mm film. They probably upped it to 30 for gameplay purposes (36 exposure rolls are also common, especially for a journalist, but 36 would've probably been too much).
since you have the frank TGS model could you put it on one of the E3 builds along with his animation from TGS (in a previous video you stated that all TGS animations are in the final game somewhere and with time we could give frank the TGS animations), then someone could probably take some TGS assets (like the health bar) and and try to implement it into the game (since one of the builds has those TGS assets) the thing that would be tricky would be concourse but idk if anything i said is possible, just a thought😅
Interesting to see this video just randomly appear in my recommended haven’t seen a Deadrising related video since Crowbcat released one awhile ago…and I just started a replay of Deadrising last night on my Series X because it was on sale for $5
I thought you could still crack the glass, I remember when I was doing the second Carlito fight he shot at a window in one of the stores I was in, and saw the exact same crack at where he shot.
The health bar/player level text is likely blurry if the ui devs used a low resolution image and scaled it up rather than having a higher resolution image and scale it down. If it's a text ui element rather than an image, they could've put small text and scaled up rather than larger text scaled down.
Can you release the old builds? I downloaded and played through this E3 demo, disappointed there weren't that many changes. Playing an old build would be fun.
