Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be hearing, and to hear sounds I've never heard before. But, I am pretty content being deaf and not having to hear annoying sounds.
i loved this video!! i also thought you had a good mix of questions, many of which got really philosophical, so it was interesting to see you both answer and then explain why you answered the way you did 😃
Hy guys i'm engaged to a deaf 😍😍😍 i'm soo looking forward to a big day i love him soo much...and thank you fr insipiring me so greatful!!!love you guys
I absolutely love watching ya'lls videos. You two are so funny! Every time you guys post a video, it just makes my day better! I recently graduated with my bachelor's degree in ASL Interpreting and passed my interpreter qualification exam for my home state! It took two tries, but I did it, finally!!! I am starting an internship with an interpreting agency soon, any helpful suggestions for a new interpreter, Courtney? Stay awesome you guys!!! :)
HEY! That is awesome! Keep it up :) Which state are you in? Great job not giving up, which test was it? Stay humble, always ask for feedback, dont take things personally :)
@@OurSignedWorld Thank you so much I am pretty proud! it was worth the wait! It was the test for Virginia, the Virginia Quality Assurance Screening. I am moving to South Carolina soon though, but luckily they still accept the Virginia Exam credentials there, bless!! That is good feedback, I have slowly been getting better about asking for feedback and not being so shy about actually interacting more with the Deaf Community and learning to ask questions. PS Keep making the awesome videos!! :)
I feel like The Office is just dry humor when you haven't been able to experience those things IRL. I didn't get it before I worked in an office setting that was messed up like DM, but then I worked in a workplace that was a hot mess and then The Office was suddenly hilarious.
This video was amazing!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love how opposite you guys were in answering Plus you guys interacting was so super cute I have a question for Zach though: Do you ever feel/“listen” to music through bad or turning it up really loud? This is not meant to be a stereotypical/disrespectful question, I am genuinely curious One for Courtney: Have you ever just pretended to be deaf for fun or just to be like Zach? Once more, I mean no disrespect what so ever, I am just curious You do t have to answer, but I love getting notifications when you respond to my questions ❤️❤️❤️
While we are out in public I never really thought of it as pretending to be deaf but yeah basically I do sometimes. If we are out at restaurants I don’t always use my voice or when we are in airports I will just use sign language.
Would I rather be deaf or hearing.. That would depend on prior circumstance for me. If the question posed means you'd be born deaf/hearing and you'd remain deaf/hearing your entire life; weather or not you retained the knowledge you have now... I honestly wouldn't care which one I rolled, I'd be perfectly happy with either. I preface this with, I obviously have no idea what it's like to be deaf thus I cannot make an informed decision so these are just my opinions and choices with what I know now being who I am. If it means you'd suddenly become deaf or suddenly regain full hearing having been born and experienced one or the other already.. If I was deaf, I'd probably choose to remain deaf. The way I see it, if I'm deaf, it's my culture, it's a part of my identity, it's what I've known, it's what I'm comfortable with, and at my age, the prospect of hearing will have already lost it's appeal. That being said, I can hear, I don't consider it part of my identity; my life as it is now does not hinge on being able to hear so the prospective experience alone makes me say I'd choose to be deaf. Becoming deaf now would mean I lose a direct line of communication with my parents for a good long while, but that's really the only major change in my life that would take place. There are obviously other ways I could communicate with them, just not as efficiency as I can now. Awesome video !
Haha, love this! I love big and baggy shirts, I’d rather be hearing than deaf that is why I am getting cochlear implants, my first surgery is scheduled for September 6th on my right ear then later I will have my left ear done.
I noticed you use more *SEE than ASL. I was just curious if you prefer to use more SEE in everyday social settings/at home or if you use “proper” ASL at all. I’m in no way judging you guys (I’m learning ASL myself). I’m HH and studying to become an interpreter, so I’m always curious about people’s preferences with sign. *I made a mistake. I meant PSE, not SEE.
Jerusalem Basurto-Soto yeah I noticed both of them were. ASL doesn’t use words like “and” “or” and it doesn’t follow sentences the way English does. ASL grammar is “topic, person, comment” format. SEE means Signed Exact English. Both are acceptable forms of sign in the deaf community. It just depends on the person’s preference.
from my observation they were not using SEE... SEE has a very distinct look in regards to flow and grammar as well as the signs and mouthing. the signing shown here was definitely ASL with some english influence but not a lot. seems like you may be confused about the difference between ASL and SEE. i suggest that you look at more examples of ASL versus signed english or other manual codes english sign systems, then the distinction will become more clear to you. wishing you best of luck in your studies!! :)
I wouldn’t consider our signing SEE. See uses a lot of signs like “the, is, were, ing, ed, are, it” etc We sign more PSE at home. At work courtney interprets whatever way the Deaf consumer needs, whether that be SEE, ASL, or PSE
Hello! I've been watching your videos for awhile now and love them :) I was wondering if you could answer a few quick questions for me if you didn't mind. Maybe it's easier to email you? I'd really appreciate it! 💕
I notice Zach is little negative and he think himself. Must share opinions. Also I notice Zach never learn hearing culture and not full ASL. Seem asl with English. Do not negative to his wife.
