To big chop or not to big chop...that is the question! Dealing with heat damage without cutting it off... just yet! Products and tools found at DeeperThanHair.Com Music by @StrykerSPEAK and @BeatzOnABean
I don't think some people understand that these videos are based on the clientele she receives so when you ask to see more hair types she can't just make that happen because it all depends on who solicits her services she can't just go picking random people off the street because you request it. I loved the video girl you are so talented and that roller set came out beautiful keep doing what you're doing ☺️
When I was younger my mom would wash, blow dry, run through my hair with a straightening comb then the flat irons every 2 weeks for yearssss. She called it training my hair. I didn’t know anything about natural curls until I didn’t have them anymore. I thought only mixed girls had curly hair. After watching countless RU-vid videos about natural hair I decided to part ways with my straight ends after many failed attempts of transitioning and here I am a year later with much healthier curly hair. 😁
Omg me too!! I have just now started researching about caring for my natural hair and have done 2 months of no heat and it's amazing how much my curl pattern is reviving.
heyyitsnyy I’m 14 and it’s really annoying how my mom always denies that my hair is heat damaged. She took me to a black lady to get it straightened, and the lady told my mom that I should stop getting my hair straightened because of the heat damage. My hair had mild heat damage in it at the time. My mom did not listen to the lady and got my hair straightened multiple times by Dominicans. The fronts and backs of my hair have went to curly to wavy to now straight. Whenever I try to tell my mom that I don’t want my hair straightened anymore because I want to get my hair healthy again, she just yells at me. Since it seems that I have no control over my hair right now, when I’m older I’m not going to straighten it at all and just get it healthy again.
I like the fact that even when your client came back after so long with heat damaged hair you didn't make it an issue. Some people expect their clients to remain loyal to them. If clients dare go elsewhere and come back with their hair in poor condition it is taken personally, they get putdown and clients are lost. People fail to realize attitudes like that are not good for business. You are very professional not just in your craft, but also in your attitude towards your clients as you are still willing to help them. That was very good of you to still show your client that love, and they will keep coming back you because of it.
This scenario doesn’t apply to half the time . It takes way more work on the stylists behalf to get your hair back to its original state. You just sit there and reap the benefits of your stylist caring for your hair.
Totally agree. You never know why someone had to stop. And the stylist are being paid...not asked to care for your hair for free. I think you should reap the benefits from anything you spend your hard earned money on...ijs.
Sis, you really got me shook right now contemplating a 3 hour drive to Philly just to have you do my hair.... I'm saving it for now, but i'm getting a seat in your chair for my graduation hair
tha Duhchezz lol she was probably having a maintenance day... she was probably on her way to her lash appointment next. you know how us girls do 😭 get it all done in a day
I haven't heard the term "heat training" in a LONG time. And you are correct, they call it "heat damage" now, simply because of loss of curl pattern. It is/was considered healthier to heat train for looser texture rather than using chemicals. When hair becomes brittle, dull, and excessively sheds, that is damaged hair, imo. Great job! Her hair looks luscious!
She often says her clients come in once a month to get their hair straitened will the hair stay straight the whole time? Also would you be able to get your hair wet in any way without it becoming curly again. I asked you this because be your comment I assume you know a lot about hair.
I now this was three years ago, but to clarify you are saying it's *not* simply because of loss of pattern that it is heat damage right? I'm seeing you connect "damage" to dull, brittle, and breakage but not necessarily "heat" damage which will also cause these things.
No disrespect but this is the same technique my stylist used on my hair as a teen in the 90’s. Every two weeks; wash, deep conditioning, large roller set, dryer (for what felt like forever) wrap, dryer again, then she would run the blow dryer with the comb attachment through my roots to flatten it a little. Make me promise to wrap and not put it in a ponytail. I’d lie & go home to brush it into a high ponytail. This truly brought back so memories might have to go back to this. Thank you
I know right omg.. that’s why I don’t go to them no more.. be using excessive heat and tugging for no reason🙄🙄.. got me shedding worst than a cat the days and weeks after and bald headed in 2 weeks🙄
shaun thomas . she may have figured anything more would make the hair that was natural , lose it's "straightness" , thus making it more difficult to roll .
VEGAN FIT FAM If the stylist knows her craft, it isn't difficult at all. I have witnessed very course hair turn out the same way. This is no less than beautiful!!!! ❤️
Her curls at the roots looked so cute tho ik it’s a lot of work but I wish sometimes people would just give their natural hair a chance. But it did look cute straight, so do you boo ❤️
Once again, you have mastered the craft, and it was a pleasure to watch you work and explain what you are doing. Thanks. Now I feel like studying cosmetology lol.
I’ve been binge-watching your videos, and I think this is my favorite so far - based simply on the results. Your client’s hair looked AMAZING when you’d finished with it! Your knowledge, passion, and skill are obvious when you turn out such beautiful heads of hair.
Hmm...looks good. Her hair may be heat damaged but otherwise it looks very healthy. Where'd you get that spray bottle from? I like the way it sprays out. ❤️ it
Love this video... the care that was taken on her hair is phenomenal! By the end of the video her hair was so silky & shiny. Its like the hair said 'what heat damage'. Ain't nothing like the hands of a talented, caring hair stylist! 🖤🖤🖤
I always love to see you work THAT HAIR! You are so blessed with a special gift because I see the Love and Care that you display in taking care of your clients hair. God bless you... You make it look so easy... Happy Viewing!!
beautiful. can you show how you handle the 4b or 4c hair that has heat damage? it's difficult roller setting 4b/4c hair and it end up that straight at the roots.
I want to honor all the women who were gracious enough to shut down the mocking and ignorant comments about the client needing an eyelash refill. You ladies will change our culture so that black women everywhere can be loved and appreciated 🤗 #cheers
I was up late , couldn't sleep and came across your RU-vid channel. I've watched a couple of your videos and I am so so happy that I found your channel! You are super informative, patient and honest ❤ you are an amazing stylist !!
Beautifully done! Her hair texture is just like mine and that's exactly how I used to get my hair set when it was long. I had it cut down gradually to a cascading bob then a pixie down to a big chop in 2017. I've been rocking and loving my short natural wash n go curls since then!😍
WoW that was amazing body in her hair. Thank you, thank you for making this video. Also thank you for the teaching on how to roll the hair, so simple and makes so much sense. This has been a great help!
Hi Deeper Than Hair TV! About a year ago I was watching your videos and said it was impossible to do that to my hair. I have been reviewing the technique and attempted it recently on my hair and wow! I am now a believer. Of course, I didnt even get close to your perfection but I was completely blown away by what I managed. I am totally convinced that my hair could look like your models. I just most certainly need to leave it to a pro! Thank you for your videos. It's opened my eyes to possibilities. Much love from GA
This is going to sound lame but you blew my mind with that roller parting trick 😭 my sections are always uneven so my results have always been so weird. Thank you 🙏🏾
I'm so a wash and set girl until I die! I love the bounce, indirect heat, and health with a lil blow or press at roots. Your hands are blessed. New subbie and I'm binge watching! Peace and Blessings from the DMV😍
So much volume, beautiful finish. I have heat damage at the moment. I thought you have to cut it💇♂️, now I know. I'll leave it to grow out. Thanx Deeper Than Hair TV. Your work is amazing 👍😉. From🇿🇦
We need an example of uneven , split ends, or missing edges and sides. Relaxer, color, heat damage all rolled in the one. Then the picture is ReAl damage what are the best options?
Chameleon Girl you funny for that but heat damaged is not as bad as people are making it. It only affects the curl pattern and that's not the end of the world like some girls think. I had bad heat damage too and didn't cut it. I trimmed it and did a deep conditioner weekly also no heat. In a year my curls were back.
You can tell it is heat damaged if you look at her roots. Her roots are much curlier than the ends of her hair. And heat damage is bad because the chemical structure of the hair is altered. It will be a lot harder for someone to retain length and moisture with heat damage.
Glad I ran into this video. I went to stylist for a silk press. Didn’t realize that it involved a keratin treatment. My 3c curls are now more like 2c to 3a and the nape of my hair is straight from what appears to be heat damage. I was depressed because I’ve not put any chemicals in my hair for YEARS and I’ve taken good care of it. Fortunately, my hair is in a short style. My instincts are correct because just like the wonderful stylist on here, I’ve decided to continue deep conditioning and not go for the big chop. I will nurse my hair back to health, let it grow out and then cut off the keratin/heat damaged sections. I was actually doing roller sets, but I want my natural curl pattern so badly, that I’ve decided on zero heat and just going with wash and go’s with lots of scrunching!
Thank you for touching on this topic! You mentioned that some people call this "heat-trained" hair. Is heat-trained hair sustainable, or is it just severely damaged?
@@reginalee6883 Nada reason to be embarrassed. I am not ashamed to admit I cannot, and few times I could, I needed bobby pins! I could not one time do it wet......
I'm not a stylist hence the boring look of my hair, but I enjoy watching your videos, on they are descriptive, you don't do the click bait, when your clients come in you can tell they are defeated by their hair, well the ones who have damaged hair, and the patience you take on telling what you're doing, and the smiles from all your clients at the end. I knew thicker hair was a process but had no clue how much of one it was. You keep being gorgeous and helping the many others feel gorgeous too. Prayers to you your family friends and clients.
