I'm 35 and wish that I was conceived at a different time in this life. What we have today I don't get quite the butterflies or smile. when they say that the World War II generation was the best generation to live, they weren't kidding. It wasn't just about the men and women that served during the war, it was about the entertainment that came before during and after the fact. The first concert that I ever went to is alabama, and The Oak Ridge Boys with my mother and father in 1993 or 4 I believe. I would have been three or four at that time. Always hated the music. I guess I was 26 or 27 when a switch flipped within me and I can't get enough of it. Every morning that I get up I put Hank Williams radio on pandora. Usually by the afternoon I switch to Creedence radio on Pandora I listen to everything in between even some new stuff. I guess what I'm trying to say is the time effort patience and talent that went into producing any sort of entertainment before 1980 was actually thought through thoroughly. Don't get me wrong there were some fun times in the 90s, but nothing absolutely nothing beat the 30s to 70s. I don't care if I come back as a fly on any of y'all's wall, I just hope it's in the year 1945 LOL
Since childhood John Wayne was my favorite...my entire family too. Looking back over 50 yrs, I am proud of my good taste...we was a true American and a peach of a guy. Miss you, Duke.
John Wayne was so funny and had great time precision and wit. You brought so much film entertainment into my life big man and Mr Wayne you're my favourite actor. Rest in peace sir and thank you.
That's what we would call comedy absolutely fantastic stuff.id always have tears running down my face from laughing so much just wonderful Innocent fun at least we had the opportunity to be around when comedy was fabulous gee were lucky
What the hell happened to hollywood!!! These guys were genuine and always appreciated their fans. And they were real men and always polite with the ladies.
Yep, a topic worth researching. I recall as a kid hearing of Martin’s reputation as a “boozer;” however, research indicates this was part of his character and he was in fact, only a casual drinker.
John Wayne was the greatest. He still is all over the world. So interesting even these days if you ever go any where they want to cast an aroma of romance they can’t find any better song than Dean Martin’s.
Gee Dean Martin had a wonderful sense of humour plus we all know that he could.sing and what a wonderful voice and oh boy I love this when John wayne hums Dean Martin looks like he's.about to crack up.laughing what a fantastic.show. thanks you tube for keeping our memories THANKS AGAIN FLY HIGH YOU TUBE ARE WONDERFUL.LETTING US ABLE TO ALWAYS LIVE OUR DREAMS
Loved these guys I was in love with John Wayne well I loved him as an actor and when I was younger I had always wanted to meet him I cried when John Wayne died and when Dean Martin died
Half of it. The left and media the fifty years has neutered young men , and drugged them up on riddle and pot. On purpose to weaken the West and Especially America. So we would decay from within and be no challenge to Russia. Now also China. Purfect example was worm Obama. His telling Mitt in debate after Mitt said Russia was still a threat. Smart ads Obama ( knowing the truth but saying the following opposite) "Mitt the 90's want their foreign policy back."
im sure glad i grew up watching all of those old legends rather than what comes from hollywood currently. losing them to time has been like losing old uncles.
Mr. Wayne, & Mr.Martin may you both continue to R.I.P., I loved them both in. Rio Bravo, great movie, Dino was fantastic in that movie, his singing, once again Great as usual, I sure do miss them both, two fine, & uplifting gentlemen, GOD bless & continue performing up in Heaven. 🌷Cathy🌷 NYC
I'm 54 and i am old enough to remember the last years of quality, decent variety shows like this. And i have watched with sadness as decency and class has for the most part vanished from the entertainment world. I feel so cheated. I stopped watching television in 2003 and finally gave my last TV away eight years later. I am so thankful for the wonderful RU-vid users who go to the trouble to upload this good old stuff. It truly is an act of love.
If only there was more footage of the golden era folks in Hollywood hanging out at parties, poolside or wherever just being themselves and having a bit of fun.
Dean Martin sings so well and 'casual' ..that one hardly notices ..in this setting, how well he could sing. That said ..he also was one of the brightest and quickest minds around..with a so called drunk slur..as an act. A multi-talented personality...trult one of the greats in showbizz history.
Absolutely! Fine singer, underrated actor, as cool as Bob Mitchum and as funny as Bob Hope. One of a kind, we shall not see his like again. The Duke was as Ford said a great Everyman. Handsome and talented but truly had the common touch, which can’t be faked.
