Just a different time! The coolness, the style, the playfulness, the jokes are so clean and genuinely funny. I wish people today would just look at this video and realise the turn music has made. No stupid face tattoos and basslines. Just pure skill/talent and class. This is brilliant
Two of the very best at the top of their game. And no matter how much they play up or Dean pretends to be incompetent (or drunk), their timing is impeccable. Credit to the band who switch from leading the singer to following him and back again, over and over.
@@AlKhebir11 in a documentary Dean said the more mature audiance enjoyed the "drunk" Dean. So he acted. He asked if you think he really could achieve all of that if he was really drunk. Maybe he learned from Foster Brooks
@@prestoncoleman1739 😁The funny thing is, it was all just an act. He hardly drank at all and when the rest of the rat pack had wild parties, Dean would go home to his family.
I was in my teens when I realized how special Frank was. Then Frank introduced me to Dean. Well I’m 80 now and still listening to their singing and watching them having fun on stage. Thank God for both of them. Had they never been born, I would have still missed them.
I am 18 now and just getting into the 40s-70s music, dean and frank have the most special voice I have ever heard! It makes me question the music we have today!
@@arnav4174 your appreciation for great singers at 18 is amazing. I love Dean but Frank was the the guy! His phrasing and interpretation of the lyrics especially in the ballads was exceptional. What part of the world are you in.
How right you are! Sinatra & Martin are the epitome of “coolness!” Loved watching this & miss them so much. I was a little girl but my mother & Nana loved them & never missed a show if they were on it!❤️May they both Rest In Peace!
My Mom introduced me to Sinatra's music when I probably was 2. I'm now 72 and the talent these men had overshadows any singer today. Thankfully we got to enjoy them for many years, and still can thru recordings!!❤
Dean Martin...best male crooner/entertainer ever. I wish I paid more attention to him when my parents were alive..I was a kid -6yrs old when this was on. My dadjust loved Dean...he was always on at Christmas...Marshmallow World! I have my 24yr old daughter listening to everything. I'm happy that so many younger people are listening to real music. Don't get me wrong, talent is every generation..some stand out and will live forever.. Gaga, Coldplay, Johnny Cash, Dean Martin, Michael Jackson, Queen..some of my favorites..🎶🎵🎶
@@toofargonefromearth3208 Just 😚 to you!!!! I love Frank, Dean, and Sammy too! They were something in their day! They are eternal!!!! And Peter Lawford was underrated as an ACTOR and entertainer! Ever seen the old movie "Dead Ringer" with an aging but STILL powerful, Bette Davis, playing twins, Karl Marldan, and Peter Lawford. He was EXCELLENT as the suave lover, killer extortionist of Bette Davis' horrible sister! He was as beautiful as tasty arsenic. I'm Black and grew up listening to the greats such Nat Cole, Ella, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughn, the underrated, Mr. Louis Jordan, and Mr. Louis Armstrong, himself, along with MANY others. Take care baby, and keep listening to the greats! CONTINUED BLESSINGS to you and your family.
I remember watching this as a teenager with my dad. He had tears in his eyes when Frank brought out Dean to reunite with his old partner Jerry. Doesn’t take much for us Brooklyn Sicilians to get emotional! I love both of these guys. Thanks for sharing!
Kim Messinger I know Kim! When you loose a parent or “loved one”, time doesn’t seem to matter! It always feels just like yesterday, to your ❤️ heart!” Unfortunately, I speak from experience! God Bless you Kim & take care!💕
A singer that will never be replaced..... the pinnacle of entertainment, class, style and what a voice ! No single person has ever come close to being able to work the lyrics of a song like Mr S! Sheer magic.
My God what great entertainment that these two were. Dean was the funniest guy. My mom got me into these guys. I'm 64 now and still love them. Thanks Mom!!!!
Aloha to you Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra !!!!! Am 79 years old and remember you both as a teenager. You guys really know how to connect to all of mankind and we love you too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heaven must be so happy to have you up there and enjoying your crazy funny songs/jokes, etc. Thank you both for extending my own life span too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sincerely, Robert S.J. Hu June 14, 2021.
Probably the greatest moments in the history of the MDA telethons....I saw this live on TV when it happened....was so thrilled to see the 2 old friends (Dean & Jerry) together again after 20 yrs....thanks for posting the entire song medley with Dean and Frank 💙 : ))))
There had been a rumor this might happen. I remember telling my grandfather that if I fell asleep he HAD to wake me up to see this. (He did, btw - LOL) There I was - a 17 year old, crying. And sneaking a look at my grandfather who was trying to wipe his eyes without me noticing. LOL
Martin and Lewis had a real love for each other that no one will ever replicate not even Sinatra n Dean they were all great friends but there was nothing but pure love between Martin n Lewis. When they broke up in 1956 Lewis took it very bad had to be sedated
It's like watching your family your all your uncles all and you're a u n t s having the best holiday ever best homemade pizzas listen to the best best music music get out of believe I was good times
Dean and Frank were great together. Dean sounds great. This was funny. It was good to see all 3 of the guys together. Dean and Frank and Jerry all together.
Exactly. Cool = Dean Martin. No one is close. Plus he's so damn good looking, top comedic talent, crooner extraordinaire. Other singers/actors try to be cool. Dean is cool.
Just watch when the camera panned on Jerry Lewis. He is a celebrity watching Frank , Dean like a kid! Great stuff! When I get to heaven I would like to see this in forever! RIP you guys!
To be in the presence of these two for an hour would be so amazing but spending eternity with them is going to be well I actually don’t have words for that. I was born four years after Frank died I sadly missed out on saying I was alive the same time as him. I’m jealous of all my loved ones up above spending time with everyone of the classic era. I know my grandad will be having a ball in the presence of his idols
Jerry was a complete arrogant moron. I worked with him on the telethon. Mr. Sinatra was a true professional and when the lights went off he was very gracious to the crew. He expected everyone to be on top of thier game as he was.
@@rty1955 Sorry that you are in a foul mood. I don't claim to have known Jerry as you have professed to have. All that I see is a light hearted laughter and comedy ! We all could need this medication in the midst of the problems of now! Be blessed and don't sweat the small stuff. And if you are watching today's SuperBowl , enjoy that too!😅🏈
@@rty1955 Lighten up! Humor and laughter is what this is about. When we look beyond our grievances and complaints we don't sweat the small stuff . So , don't judge! I'm sure that some people don't like you either. Life is too short ! 😅😅😅😅😅
They don’t make them like that anymore - We are definitely lucky that there are tapes films records cds dvd and whatever else was used to record these guys lives professionally and otherwise - My Grandparents and My Parents listened to Frank Dean Sammy and thus I was introduced to them - Timing is everything - I’m 60 years young and will never tire of Frank and Dean
234 People with no cool and no class down voted. Ugh. Sad. These guys were classy beyond words. We will never have entertainers this classy, this talented, this funny, this in tune with each other as the boys from the Rat Pack and their friends. (No matter what the kids say.) These guys has more talent in their lapels than anyone today, in their entire G-String.
Thank God for You Tube. Preserved for new generations to understand a world before social media and the internet with performers that truly influenced so many. RIP Frank , Dean and Jerry. Millions around the world miss you...
When Dean's messing around looking at Jerry Lewis and Frank starts tapping Dean on the shoulder. I love Dean he was always decent to everyone. Even fans. Jerry was a asshole. Ask his kids. Frank ... Well Frank's Frank. And I'm just leaving that here. Oh well two outta three ain't bad. All we need is Sammy.
There was only one Frank, and one Dean, and many have tried to copy them , all I have to say is Good Luck!! It was there time, a time of snap, and tuxedos and a cigarett In your hand. They were both born into this world , they both found something they Both love to do, and they followed there dreams And came out at the end of the rainbow and got the pot of gold and shared it with the world. And now they are both resting Rest In Peace Frank & Dean Miss you Ed
I was 18 when I watched this fantastic piece of TV history as it happened. It was so damned funny but at 3:30 - when Dean says to Frank, "Why you shout??" I laughed so hard, and pretty much for years afterwards whenever I thought about it. Each of them were iconic, one of a kind talents, the kind never to be seen again. R.I.P., Jerry, Frank and Dean.
Whenever Im down i watch these 2 Legends. My heart swells and I cant keep the grinn off my face. The fun they are having is contagious and timeless.🤣😂🤣😂🥰
The two beautiful kisses thrown to Jerry, he never stopped looking in his direction during the performance, he practically impersonated Jerry and Frank was Dean. Dean was ABSOLUTELY happy to be there. Dean and Jerry are now finally happily together and with Frank who continues to be your guardian angel :-)
How right you are! All entertainment & no cramming their political beliefs down our throats! Pure fun & excellent music when they came on stage! They were the best & always had the audience in the palm of their hands! My mom never missed The Perry Como Show, The Dean Martin Show ,The Andy Williams Show & so many others from those special times! The best memories...❤️
I remember seeing the show (s) they used to be on as a little girl when my parents & Nana watched their shows! They were fabulous in Vegas in later yrs., I remember reading in my mom’s old Photoplay & multiple movie magazines I read as a preteen! They were just cooler than cool & how my parents lived watch game them on tv!!!!
Love old school. This will never happen again..glad my grandparents played their music. Turned me on to real talent. Best music. Plus Perry Como. Hey he's my cousin..

This Jerry Lewis telethon was REAL DEAN MARTIN n JERRY LEWIS had no idea what was going on, only FRANK SINATRA could have done a great thing like this, that's why he was a great human being ,n knew who his friends were.😇🥰😊🇺🇲🇮🇹🇺🇲 LET ALL 3 R. I.P.
There's never ever going to be anyone as cool as Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. These guys are still the best entertainers this world will ever see. Am glad I got to live with these guys at the top SHIT if anyone knows talent real entertainment. Frank and Dean will always be the best
@@thegoughandbordenfamily8234 ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha please even they will laugh at this. Ha ha ha ha you are funny you didn't grow up when I did. Dean Martin is the king of cool
Not only is the song and the performance Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra so nostalgic. It was also that time in history that was so fabulous and innocent. People were just having fun listening to two performers sing and not reading into any of the words phrases or comments that were made🎶 just enjoying live music with two great singers. Unlike today you just don't get that anymore as the media rips 😢everything apart that's being sung n said in the entertainment field today. What I'd give to go back 💔🌈💔 entertainment at its finest 🎶🎶🎶🎶
I was a teenager when I saw this show. Watched Jerry Lewis Telethon with my mother every year and it was my mother who told me about the Jerry Lewis Dean Martin feud. I remember this particular show as if it were yesterday and loved every second of it!
They absolutely were “KINGS BACK THEN & I COULDN’T AGREE WITH YOU MORE!” Multitalented.... musicians, singers & “comics”( loved their banter back & forth on stage).. these talented men were pure entertainment! I remember my parents watching them intently & laughing at the joking between “The Rat Pack!” I loved Rock & Roll but have come to realize how extraordinary these entertainers truly were back then & I both love and appreciate their music so much now! You phrased it perfect though,” VOICE VOICE!”❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️
You can instantly tell the love story shared between Dean And Jerry. Dean couldn’t stop looking of at his brotha. Distracted the whole way through the performance. And Jerry couldn’t take his eyes off Dean. One of the most beautiful moments in television history
My late sister Mary was a teenager during WW2 and used to refer to Sinatra as "Frankie". I have her to thank for discovering his LP (as was then) of "Songs For Swinging Lovers" and in July 1990 I was able to repay her by treating her to the Sinatra "A Summer Affair" concert here In London UK. I doesn't get any better than that!
I miss the Jerry Lewis Telethons, my family and I watched it every year without fail and contributed to every donation box or fireman's boot everytime we left the house.
Loved Dean Martin in particular but watching the two of them is so much fun. Love Frank Sinatra too!❤️The two of them were extraordinary! So talented & so much fun to watch! Miss them both!❤️
We love Frank and Dean so I've nothing to add there, they were great. One thing not mentioned is the piano player and he has to sometimes lead, sometimes follow, always focus on the singers and where they're going, but not up stage them, and finally how the band was ready at the end when the singers were ready to wrap it up. P.S. You can see here that Dean really enjoyed being a clown more than we realize. That was Jerry's part when they were together, but without him, Dean becomes Jerrym and Frank becomes Dean. Very becoming.
Love these 2 When frank played in Dublin many years ago the city came to a stand still with traffic for the bones of 5 hours no one has ever caused this stand still even all these later xx Cork Ireland
@@clash8181 History, geography, culture and family customs/traditions are influencing such things. That's the reason you have so many good gypsy musicians, so many good mongolian horse riders and so many good skijumpers from switzerland. Denying this is completely bonkers. And italy was world known for its singing since end of medival times. All these high class operas and so on coming from italy, mostly produced in Venice for rich merchants. Also culture of folk songs very rich in italy. Italy went high internationally in music until 1970s/80s when everything turned into plastic-american-music thanks to MTV
Frank called upon Dean, Sammy, and Johnny for a televised fund raiser in St Louis to benefit a hospital. It was some of the most amazing comedy and singing entertainment you will ever see. Yes, it should be here on RU-vid. I recommend viewing it.
