Oh my God, total Classic with excellent stars!!!! Paul Lynde is my favorite comedian, he is a class act!!!!! Dean's show was the greatest!!!!! So funny!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ❤❤❤❤.....
Peter Falk was always one of my favorite actors growing up, I came late to the game so to speak watching reruns of Columbo when I was out of high school in the 90's. He was in one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes as a Castro-like dictator. As someone in law enforcement though, he was definitely my favorite TV cop.
HAHA, and I LOVE how Dean Martin starts to pull his hat down over his face and sinks down into the seat after making that quip! Priceless! Like he knew he was pushing the censors a little. Golden!
@@manofthehour6856 The fact that Paul could get away with saying "you know your very attractive when your angry" to Peter Faulk is just mind blowing. He used to get away with a lot on Hollywood Squares. I'm glad he did but don't know how he managed.
Just think of it, martin falk and lynde doing a skit together tv then was so imaginative unlike today's generic consumption. Passed off as entertainment.
I swear, if ANY show today could even come close to this, I'd watch. But there are NONE that could. Today's television and most movies are absolutely terrible.
When the last of the true entertainers, such as these, passed away, they took the last of any talent left with them! Hollywood is nothing but a propaganda mill now. Talent, humor and true entertainers are forbidden by the socialist left that now owns the country.
thanks everyone for your responses. I really liked cars from this era , especially convertibles from the 60s and 70s. I know its not a chevelle or gto but each car back then had some beauty to it.
You are so right! This Catalina is gorgeous, even if they did try to ugly it up with "bullet holes" and "wear". You could find this in the parking lot because with color choices and models, there was much more individuality. Yesterday, I was trying to determine if what may have been a Jaguar SUV was that or a Chevy Blazer....it was a new Blazer. Ludicrous....
I wonder if the LGBT community might call Paul Lynde a sell out Uncle Thomasina for this bit. A sense of humor can establish more peace and love then a hundred years of social justice warrior activism.
Where Lynde's humor was biting and cynical, LGBT people love it. When it was needlessly campy and feminine, less so. But no one is suggesting that programs like this be censored or removed. That's the favored tactic of the religious right.
So true. Paul Lynde and Dean Martin both fought bigotry with humor and helped to pave the way for others to come out even when they could not themselves, at least not publicly.
I think it depends on who you talk to. I am a transgender person and I find his stuff and Martin and Lewis funny and heart warming. I am also a christian. So please don't think that just because some is of a religious affiliation they are against this LGBT. Love is love and God is love.
HAH! Probably what makes it is that there is a great deal of spontaneity in this show.....Dean never showed up until the taping, and if something went off script, he or the other guests would just fix it. It required wit, talent, and confidence. I really don't see that pulled off today where everything, especially "reality shows" are scripted.
I ggrew up on Dean martin show iam 68 yrs old and there was not one dean martin show that wasnt funny or great for entertainment, dino learned alot about COMEDY during his yrs with jerry
Jerry Lewis was not funny to me, he had to try and be funny. I was so happy when Dean Martin went on his own. I love his dry sense of humor. Jerry Lewis was silly.
There's nothing wrong with thinking of him as a gay comedian who had to hide it, but to me was just funny, period, with or without the gay part. Especially with insult lines.
Damian Blaze everyone except old ladies knew Liberace was gay. With all of the flamboyance, Liberace was very conservative. He did not like flaunting any kind of sexuality. He liked the theatrics of everything. He was in a league of his own!
Paul Lynde was the funniest on Hollywood Squares. On one episode he was asked "If a man falls off a ship people yell Man Overboard. What do they yell if a women falls overboard?" without batting an eye or taking to long to think about it. Lyndes shouts out "full speed ahead" Does anyone know what type of car they are in?
I was shocked to learn that Peter Falk was jewish (trust me I have nothing against jews) its just that he looks & sounds so Italian. I guess its because in my mind I always associate him with Det. Columbo.
The same could be said for a lot of those guys. Like Martin and Lewis. It is such a shame they were not able to be open about who they were and who they loved.
When Paul Lynde would do stand up, one of his lines was “so this is what the inside of a cunt smells like”. He was very out of the closet, but it was different then. Even the men and women used references rather than blatant sex humor. It’s what made it so funny.
Loved this show of Dean's and his celebrity roast shows. I'll never forget the one joke bout Lucille Ball. Lucy was thinking bout dyeing her hair to her natural color. But she can't remember what it is. Also Ruth Busby dressed as older lady hitting Dean with her purse.
Teddy Bass Hell no. You can't replicate true talent and true genius. If we could my cousin T. Windsor Scrupe would be the new Shakespeare. As it is he's where he belongs -- stuffing mushrooms at a Hoboken deli.
