The Motown Revue Starring Smokey Robinson (August 1985). RARE! 1) Smokey Robinson with 'The Dean Martin Story'. 2) Dean and Smokey have a talk and sing together "For Once In My Life".
Dean Martin us probably the most underrated entertainer of all time. He doesn't get the accolades that Frank and Sammy still get. Yet he was incredibly funny, his comedy timing is absolutely incredible, he was a fairly good actor and an incredible voice....And he did it very naturally, no pretence, moved like velvet, he definitely deserves more credit than he gets.
Jerry Lewis called Dean a great comedic talent with impeccable timing. Jerry wrote the material, gave Dean a brief description of it, then Dean performed it perfectly without any full rehearsal. Incredible.
@@debraharris879 I think he did, he just didn't take himself seriously. I like Sinatra, but Dean's voice was richer. There's an English metal musician who analyzes different entertainers on youtube, and he did one of Dean Martin, and talked about how he makes singing look easy, but he was really quite technical. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-35HSQIvfEH4.html&ab_channel=WingsofPegasus
This is 1985 . Dean Paul died in that plane crash the next year. Dean was never the same . He went downhill fast after that . Great entertainer with a voice better than Sinatra
On a vid on you tube his producer said he took a lot of that compensation in RCA stock (who owned NBC at the time. At the time of his death Dean was the largest single share holder in that company. He was a very shrewd business man.
Not underrated at all. There's no way you could miss Dean's charm, unique singing ability, and his kindness. He was a gentleman and a gentle man. Rest in holy peace forever, Dean.
It's sad to know that not long after Dean lost his son and he was never the same. Here we see him in his later years with that same charming magic that made him a star. It's cool to see Dino dueting with Smokey Robinson!
Was there ever anybody who could sing duets with such a wide range or artists? Always the same pattern; Dean is so warm and funny, puts his guests at ease, and then they just click. In addition to being a great singer, Smokey plays a wonderful straight man here.
DEAN MARTIN & Smokey Robinson were both Great singers. Thank you for posting this. I have never seen them together before. Both have smooth sexy voices. I love seeing them joking around together plus singing together ❤❤ this
Every time I watch this I love seeing Dean having fun and smiling! He was and still is a great entertainer and a great man! I miss him dearly! Love you Dean
I don't trust anything Lewis said about Dean - he did a certain amount of acknowledging Dean's talent, but all in all, after Sinatra forced the reconciliation, Jerry then took hold of the narrative about their relationship, and Dean of course just ignored it, and it continued after Dean's death.
The real Dean Martin was a very private and shy man. A family man and a man with tremendous integrity. He came up through show buisness the hard way like so many of his time. His easy smooth singing style was his talent. Little did we all know he would blossom into a wonderful comedian with impeccable timing during the great and sensational years he partnered with Jerry Lewis. If that wasn't enough he ventured on his own to become a very fine actor as well as having his own legendary television show which was successful for many years. Las Vegas was his headquarters where he was most comfortable delighting his fans with his cool deminor and singing Excellence. Dino rightfully labeled was and to me all these years is THE KING OF COOL. Yes we had Sinatra,Crosby, Como and many other greats. But there was ONLY ONE DINO and anyone old enough to have watched this man perform was truly Blessed.... Love u 4ver Dino!
His relationship with Jerry Lewis was "open warfare" to quote Angie Dickinson. Dean nearly quit several times, as Jerry dominated the writing and Dean couldnt stand the formulaic and rather stupid movies. They had a lot of fights, and Dean finally had enough when Jerry cut him out of a Life mag cover. He told Lewis "You're nothing to me but a f-ing dollar sign", and when they told Dean he couldn't just leave like that, he said "Just watch me!", and he did. They had to fulfil one more engagement together, and then Dean was gone - never spoke to Lewis again for 20 years, lots of unflattering cracks about him though in his shows; and it wasn't until Sinatra forced a probably inadvisable reconcilation that Dean spoke to Jerry again. Jerry was a known bully, and a really unpleasant person. I can't stand him for any more than about 2 minutes.
Dean sings with Smokey, beautifully together. Simply Dean Martin Simply beautiful. A great entertainer. A beautiful human. He’ll always be loved and remembered. Thank you for uploading. I’m appreciated. Happy New Year everyone.🎈🔔Good health to all.

This was so funny, comiquísimo, Smokey couldn't keep a straight face at 0:42, his intro was pure genius, and then Dino comes in and shows what a Master Comedian he was !!! Gracias por este divertidísimo vídeo !!! Love that song, made famous by a 1-derful golf player !!! Blessings from San Juan PR.
He was a great professional, his drunkie persona was just an act he mastered to make people happy while hiding his own insecurities because he considered himself a boring guy. In fact he was a very private person who preferred to be lonely. Not everything is as it seems.
@@jaccuster8258 No they were not best friends. Maybe for a few years, but it deteriorated badly mainly due to Lewis being such a bully and his need to dominate the show. Lots written about that.
I hope ya’ll will reply to this I love ❤️ Dean Martin and Smokey Robinson…did y’all know Dean covered Smokey’s song The Tracks of my Tears m…it’s here on RU-vid if y’all would like to hear it
According to an interview that I had seen asking him this question, it was a real plaque but not the original one that he did receive it had encrypted lettering not meaning anything but according to the interview he was honored to receive the original one.
I miss these guys and the times we had back then when life was great and people got along and liked each other and worshiped God and had fun no racist talk sex no men wanting to be women or the other way around. Lady's were lady's and men were men and men looked out for the lady's. everything was politically correct it was better life back then. Things was going on but not in everyone's face all the time.
