tracks wod you will have to be very thrifty. Avoid the Expatriate Syndrome. When in Ghana as an example move quickly out of your hotel and move into an Airbnb or rent a single or two bedroom apartment costing not more than $200.00 a month. Keep your money in your USA or foreign account. You can withdraw your money at any bank using your debit card from the West. The charge for each bank transaction is $5.00 in Ghana. By keeping your phone from your telecommunication company in the West, you will automatically be transferred to a local telecommunication company such as Vodafone or MTN in Africa. By so doing you can still have access to everything on your phone such as your bank app. With the help of another small phone that you will acquire in Africa you can send money to yourself from your Western phone to your local Africa phone and cash out the money at any local mobile money kiosk by the street. This will enable you to avoid the $5.00 ATM charge of the banks for each transaction. My T-mobile subscription transferred automatically to Vodafone when I entered Ghana. To acquire land in Accra as as example, move a little farther from the city center and find a single plot of land which should not cost you over $5000.00 dollars. Make a house plan of the expandable type where you can build in stages. It means with a single self contained room built, you can move into your own house and build the rest of the house at your own pace.

Kenya is one of the best country in Africa. If her experience wasn’t good there, u can only imagine how it feels around. PS: born and raised in SubSahara Africa, moved to America 7 years ago and that was the best decision I’ve ever taken in my whole life.

I was raised by my mother to embrace my African roots and culture on a DEEP level. The psychological issues that we have amongst ourselves on the Motherland and throughout the Diaspora are deep rooted as well. I just spent over 4 months in Italy due to lockdown. I have a small flat there so no hardship. I was very tempted to try to change my residence status and remain instead of returning to the UK but am worried about the fallout from Brexit. Given that I'm a pensioner there could be problems. I do speak Italian quite well

Mg Morgan: Thank you for being honest. Yes, life is difficult in every country, the continent of Africa as well. If you don't have a substantial amount of money don't think of relocating to any country. Definitely, not Africa. You must have money to establish yourself. To those who try to sell the Brooklyn Bridge, people just understand, it is not for sale. My point is? Stay where you are. The grass always look greener on the other side. America isn't a haven, nor is any other country. You can always get employment at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Burger King, car wash or any fast food company. As long as you are legal and you have someone in America, you will do as all others....survive. The Africans born in America as well as those coming from any country to America will survive if you want to make a conscious decision to live here.

I get the impression that most of the black Americans who are on this 'back to Africa' kick couldn't make it in America, for whatever reason, and are moving to Africa out of frustration with the illusion all the problems they had in America will disappear. You are supposed to rent. That is how you get an understanding of where you want to live. Why buy a house and realize down the wrong the area is not what you thought. Renting allows you to move around.

No you don't have to rent..you can buy and even if renting is what you want make sure you don't rent for long time..like I said visiting and doing a due diligence is a plus.

I found a need in my field of study so I made plans to come help. I love my Continent & All The people there. My family helped Africans when they got to America. This lady only had $1,500 to move to Kenya was she not trying to survive too? (my brother helped build a church in Kenya) Because that’s all I see Continentals saying when we get robbed there; the thieves were only trying to survive. Don't be fooled. I'm an African American, ( naturalized) originally from Africa. Having not completed, the video, it is literally impossible to survive on $1500 , at least where I came from, which shall remain nameless at this time. Again, having lived there for nearly 30 years, in my opinion, I'd rather ' struggle' here in America, than in Africa. Just my two cents. What sense does it make for one to leave America, because you're so disenchanted with life, and travel to Africa, to sell what??? There's a reason why only poor, down trodden, people sell those types of wares most of the time. Because it is not SUSTAINABLE. There's a reason also, why thousands of people emigrate to from Africa to the US. Mostly to seek greener pastures. And in most cases, from my experience, whenever immigration status is legal, most people find themselves way more successful than the African alternative. Sometimes, we just have to be appreciative of what we have in America. Anyway, to each his or her own. Again. Why would you leave America to go to Africa and STRUGGLE? Again. It is what it is.

Don't do it last. Not without a solid plan for job or career; or something to do for a living (wage). Just as an aside though, I just heard her say she had thousands of dollars stolen from her. Did her family loan her the money? Or did she get that from selling (akara) cupcakes/muffins. Hmmmm. Questionable.

Building seems very hard especially if you aren’t there to oversee it. I have the same ambition so I have been following @naturalghanagirl building her dream home in Ghana. I recommend it.

Don’t do that unless you personally know your contractor and still I would not advise build in Africa while being in America. And Ghana’s money is very close to ours so it’s not cheap at all.. I have problems with contractors while being in the same city. Also they target us for robberies and scams on the Continent. Best wishes!
