Some people legit try to make depression/anxiety/being suicidal a qUiRkY pErSoNaLiTy when millions of people suffer from mental disorders every day. That’s like saying you that you like blind people because they run into stuff sometimes, like that’s not cute that’s a problem that they really don’t want to have. If you like helping people with problems like depression, fine. But it’s not a cutesy personality trait, it’s horrible for someone to have depression. I have Anxiety and ADHD and if someone said to me “Omg you have a mental disorder? I love people like that” I would be really self-conscious. I try to conceal my mental problems because I feel that people might think I’m dumb or something (I know having a mental disorder doesn’t make you dumb at all but lots of people treat you like a child/more of a child if you say you have one). I’d think, “If all someone sees about me is my mental problems, I’m not normal. Everyone’s just trying to act like I fit in to be nice.” I know that isn’t a healthy mindset, but I can’t control it. Acknowledging someone’s mental disorder and acting like they can’t do simple tasks or think for themselves is super damaging, and romanticizing about it is even more damaging. We need to stop treating people with mental disorders like they’re aliens who don’t understand emotions and start giving them the help they need and treating them like actual humans. That’s much better than glorifying their problems. Don’t do that thing where you try to dumb everything down, though. That’s just condescending.

Obviously I wouldn't go so far as to traumatize them, but scaring the shit out of them with the gruesome details would probably at least stop them from having a crush on a serial killer/rapist, etc.
