Should definitely mirror. Could even release at the same time in my opinion. Then we won't have a run on Japanese cards for 3 months before English sets drop.
If it avoids 300 cards set with 50 chase cards, yeah. Also, the fact pull rates are so random in English sets make them either amazing or horrible but the thing is, I can't open multiple booster boxes of English as opposed to Japanese sets.
Definitely, it would be great for both markets to get it at the same time. Japanese people can properly enjoy their products and other languages don't have to be teased for months. Part of me thinks the pokemon company abuses this because they sell the same in english but maybe twice as much japanese cards and the tease for people who want English might increase the FOMO when they finally see they're getting the chase cards. That marnie in shiny star v had people busting the bank over a promo when it was printed in english
This is why I'm loving Digimon right now. Sets are identical. We get them months later, but we know every card will be the same, the quality is the same since both languages are made in the same place, and promos are done with each set. 1 for 1 in a tcg is amazing after dealing with Pokemon.
I completely agree. Mirroring Japanese sets would decrease so much of the bulk that comes with English sets... They should also just use the same card stock and manufacturing processes that Japan does. Tired of getting good hits only to find that they're poorly centered and/or of horrible quality.
I agree so much , the other day i was looking at my english pokemon cards after been collecting Japanese cards for a bit & the centering was so garbage for nearly every card
You're right about V cards being not fun to collect. GX, EX, LV. X and Prime were way superior imo. IDK if the V cards just looks overall ugly or there are just too many cards.
Vmax climax is so addictive to open Ive opened 10 boxes and ready to order more I do wish when I pay 100 for a booster in english I would get more hits.
Agree with your points.. Just got back into the hobby a couple months ago and would be completely content to stick with Japanese based on quality, personal value & pure enjoyment of the cards
Jluv constantly spitting truth out here! No doubt the Japanese cards look much better than their english counterparts. That yellow borderline is hideous.
I like the discussions combined with the openings. After seeing enough of one set opened it can be stale, seeing a lot of repeats, but both together is nice
I have no interest in Brilliant Stars compared to VMAX Climax. Even though I'd have to pay a markup, custom fees, shipping costs etc I would still go for VMAX Climax because the JP set is that much better, which is generally the case.
Facts. To be honest, I'm an english-only card collector but when I saw Vmax Climax, I knew I had to get out of my comfort zone and buy atleast 2 boxes, 1 for opening and 1 for display. On top of that, I'm not the one to collect sealed boxes so that says alot about how much this set is a must-have. I'm not sure if Vmax Climax would be my first and last japanese set but it's safe to say that buying atleast a box is worth it for any collector, whether you're a veteran collector or just starting out.
LOL. Haven't even watched the video yet but I will start off with how I think TPC cares about it's english vs japanese audiences Japanese: Personalized cards that are taken care of in terms of card quality, given guarantees in drop rates, & produces more unique promo cards each & every year. English: Best I can do is 2 miscut Vs & 1 Vmax in every ETB, pull rates are unknown & random, & 99.9% of our products are whatever J-TPC did the month or two before. Brilliant Star ETBs won't even have a single CHR, or equivalent, guaranteed.
I agree. Like 2022 sXA box Battle Region which is s9A, they mixed it with s10D/P into Astral Radiance making it harder to get those specific cards and rares. I wish ENG would be like Thai/Taiwan/Korea/Indonesia where they copied JP packs 1:1.
I'm pretty excited to have brilliant stars in English, also the charizard leak was an alternate art not a character rare. So it looks like they'll have chrs and aa in one set.
I started collecting pokemoncards and watching ur channel recently. Now Im so crazy about Tomokazu's art style and I just noticed that you use a playmat with his art on it. Wish I had those... I love your content and also your Japanese skill!
You have a good point. I'm sick of pulling so many rares/ holo rares with occasional regular Vs that no one wants. When I'm lucky and pull an ultra-rare, guess what? it's bloody off centered! I honestly think that this "quality issue" is intentional by Pokemon International, just to drive the scarcity of good print chase cards even more. Which allows them to make more money. They could fix the printing issue if they want to. With Japanese boxes, we know exactly what we're getting from the booster box. Good quality cards and guaranteed amount of V, Vmaxes, and Character rares
It’s crazy now looking back at this video, they’ve literally taken your advice it seems and have done what you’re talking about here with Vstar Universe and Crown Zenith mirroring each other with insane hit rates/ sick cards!
EN sets should def mirror JP sets. JP sets are more concentrated, smaller boxes so make it easier for players to find staples they need and for collectors to hone in on chase cards. I feel like TPCI is similar to Konami for Yu-Gi-Oh! in that they are simply run by different leadership who make different decisions for their market. It's all hunky dory until EN people start enjoying JP sets. P.S. I also ordered a case after opening a couple boxes of VMAX Climax. It really is the most fun I've had with any Pokemon set since Shining Fates.
Yeah it feels like it hey. Especially that last bit - it’s all fun and games until people start sticking to JP sets only! Also absolute baller move going for a case and one I entirely respect , best of luck mate
Since you repeated it a few times in this video, I wanted to ask you: have you come across a box without a CSR? My friend opened a box the other day and luckily pulled a trainer SR god pack, but he finished opening the box without finding a CSR. Asking for more than a god pack is pretty greedy, but I hadn't seen a box without a CSR yet, including boxes that had god packs in them. Any idea what's up with that?
Apparently when you get a CSR, you're sure to NOT get a godpack in your box (even if it's a trainer godpack), at least that's what I heard and your friend's box seems to confirm that godpacks take the spot of CSRs and when the godpack is a trainer one then this happens.
Ive opened lots of boxes of this set and managed to get 2 god packs along the way :-) Ive finally finished it(had to buy a few singles) and still have 12 unopened boxes to keep for a rainy day. Its hands down my favourite set.Rev mirror Weedle was one of the hardest to draw..hahah
Reason for not mirroring: 1) logistics, Japanese release is smaller. Since english is a massive release logistically and for marketing they may need to break it up 2) more $$$$$$$ when english owners gamble more
You hit the nail on the head. Pokémon… hire him please!! I opened 3 Fusion Strike, I wasn’t into it. Too big, way too big. You can’t just cram a couple Japanese sets into one huge English one anymore, it doesn’t work. The Japanese sets are nicer, better pulls, and easier to get what you want because there is a theme. Just wish it was easier to get for a decent price out here. This set is so cool and fun to watch openings. I wish this would be similar in English, but that’s not gonna happen. Pokémon needs to do better listening to the people buying their products. It wouldn’t be hard for them to do better. And that would be great for all of us.
This is the reason I stopped collecting English cards and moved to collecting Japanese. They look much nice without the horrible yellow border. They actually care about customer satisfaction and nearly all the cards are printed in good quality. And you can get a booster box for so much cheaper compared to an English set (Which is about £120 here in the UK) And like you said, you know what you're getting. It's much easier to complete the master set for Japanese sets than Pokémon. I would love to see English start to mirror Japanese, but even if they did I think I would still continue to collect the Japanese version.
Do you put your cards in perfect fits or penny sleeves? I've been trying to figure out how to store my cards from regular rares, bulk holos/holo rares/Vs and Vmaxes, and up to decently priced cards $5+.
I bought 3 boxes and got insanely lucky. Pulled Pikachu VMAX CSR, Acerolas intuition, Galar Friends & Sylveon V CSR. Have to stop myself buying more because I don't think I'll be able to top that
So after doing some research I feel like this will be like the shining fates set we got. there's no way they are gonna combine this with brilliant stars. My suspicion is brilliant stars = star birth + battle region
I agree that pokemon company needs to make things more accessible for playing the game but also they do drop those player Decks that do use Meta cards from time to time. Sadly they're usually pretty late in the meta but still that's something??? Hopefully they can get better in that part.
I only opened 2 boxes and although I can't afford it, I was planning on getting 2 more but God was like "nuh uh, you're not wasting your money, not today" and I currently don't have a credit card because my bank got sold by another bank and im waiting for my new card.😭
It has always amazed me how terribly the sets get constructed in English. I have always guessed that the marketing and buying habits are different but they should just be 1 for 1
To be fair, TPCi has made several good Arena decks. We had the Pikachu Zekrom and Reshiram Charizard Decks, ADP Zacian, Inteleon V Max, and more recently the Urshifus. And they're more or less competitive ready. TPCi just sucks when they transfer new cards to the sets these days. Fusion Strike is just bad in composition. I think some Vs and VMaxs are cool to collect in terms of artwork. We got that Volcarona V due by Kawayoo, any VMax due to AKIRA EGAWA is a banger as well as anything Mitsuhiro Arita makes as well. But, I think V and Vmaxs are a mechanical downgrade from GXs.
do you think they weight the sealed boxes to search for god packs before they sell it? it actually makes sense to buy an whole case i think. fusion strike was overwhelming. the set is way too big but it has great cards. also in this year, there were so many good sets that the timing of fusion strike wasn´t very good. i mean if you collect japanese and english cards then you are like opening everyday a new set.
I don’t think boxes being weighed is a prevalent issue, it’s not something I’d be worried about - besides, box weighing has been possible for years now with Japanese sets!
I wonder if we get more CSR 's in Starbirth. I mean, CSR's are basically just Altart SR's in disguise. Or maybe they release the Charizard V CSR as a promo in japan, which would be bad since promos tend to be very expensive.
Happy Holidays, always happy to see a vmax climax opening. Hope you got your money's worth with the case. You look a little drunk in the thumbnail...are you alright?
"Brilliant Climax" lolol. But yes 100%, would love to see this released in English and without the yellow borders (especially on the CHRs), but that seems impossible at this point :(
Sort of new to the hobby, but here’s a question. Since this series seems to have “endless hits” of cool looking cards, then doesn’t that mean most will be high volume and low value? printing everything to be visually pleasing shouldn’t increase its value. Sort of like how celebrations is all holo cards but most are worthless. Am I missing something here? I feel like Pokemon is over printing everything, taking cues from the federal reserve, and they’ll all be pretty worthless in this set. With all the hype it makes me wonder if we should buy the less glamorous sets as they will have been over looked. Thoughts?
There is a lot of different ways to view how a set is valuable. Some look at the chase card, and how much that is worth in $. But there are also a lot of people (me included), that find value in other things such as: - Playable cards (this set make it possible to play a giant range of VMAX decks that in some places cost +100$ each - Cards without the countless fabrication errors that the english sets are full of - And most importantly, just having a fun time opening packs. I have opened every single english set in the last year, and they have all left me with a feeling that I’ve been fooled (4 out of 5 is ‘dead packs’, and when you finally hit something, the chances are, it’s a underwhelming and boring V-card). I have opened a handful of these boxes (and allready ordered more), cause this set has easily been the most fun time I’ve ever had opening packs. Just my thoughts :) Have a nice day!
japanese is usally cheaper cause of that, but real collectors ( no disrespect at all , your new) don’t care about the price they care about hits . If you can get wayy more hits for less money & the cards overall look better why not?
You're right btw, after trying out Japanese sets, I started to notice how many flaws the English sets have (especially those godforsaken yellow borders). If it wasn't for the fact that they're more easily obtainable than international sets, i dont think much people would be buying them here.
@@okJLUV yepppp its so hard to wait on things. I remember its 1st day to 1st week price as 2500 php as a SET. i waited on it cause i thougt maybe it can go even just slightly bit lower. now i check ebay all upset seeing them as 24500 php :")))
How come full art holos are so common in the Japanese packs!? You seem so unfazed but I swear I have gotten screwed with non holographic rares the last 5 packs I’ve opened. You are so right. Anglophone packs are garbage. The Pokémon championships Prize money would not come close to bank rolling the price it would cost to maintain a deck which is viable within the ever changing Format and Meta.
I got into a spree of buying cards, and your video opened my mind. Japanese cards are actually collectable. The USA cards are just ripping us money for random repeated cards.
Honestly I dont understand all the hype. This is more overhyped than even Celebrations and Shining Fates was. Yall can have this set and pay whatever cooky amounts of money ya want lol. I'll just be here patiently awaiting some Jirachi love in this era. You'd think he'd be included in "Brilliant STARS" but we'll see, it is tpc after all.
Can't agree on the gray border. Just don't like the color at all where as yellow is one of my favorites. Maybe a white or black border but no gray for me.
