Beezy is secretly a huge metal head. He used to have those Rob Zombie braids from the 90's. And used to go int he mosh pit at Cannibal Corpse concerts. I know he acts like it's all about tribe when he with the smooth chicks. But he's down with the metal swirl! he probably bought Death Grips tickets behind Mykes back. And is already hittin up hipster girls who look like a mix of MC Ride & Gina Torres.

On GP is a very important song to me. "I've tried nothing everything works" I was deep in a bad place when this dropped, and that song really spoke to me on a level that I lack the words to speak on.

I've been missing out on all this sort of music since the late 1990s. I just couldn't get fully into it, very frustrating to say the least. I just wanted to sink into the whole thing and couldn't. I got hooked on Black Metal instead. It just spoke to me. One thing has to be said, I can't help but watch people having a good time talking about music. Looks like a lot of fun making this video. Cheers man!

Going back thru ur old videos, can't believe i've been watching yall for nearly 10 years now Super late but I think you were both sort of right on I Break Mirrors, i think it has to do with the disgust and depersonalization he feels in himself that is exacerbated by the western world, by America, by the inherent paradoxes that exist between him and the outside world, not so much that he's ugly or just hates the government, it's about what those two impulses have to do with each other.

How i interpreted the lines "I spin the chamber 'tween my lips i pull the trigger like a giff"is that hes been contemplating suicide each night. "i can't get hit, I've never lost" MC Ride is so fucking insane that he plays Russian roulette with himself or with someone else. Which is why he says spin the chamber and i've never lost. He also mentions how "he's been spinning chambers since the day he was born" Also he says some intresting things on that track like "smoking cigarettes in the shower" and "you can't trust me try trust me and you'll see why" referencing how he's a chain smoker with lines like "lighting up vegas" and "I'm chaining like it's money, dirty money, surgeons general". I dunno maybe i'm thinking way too much into this.

I'll love to see Beezy reviewing metal, grindocore, hardcore and noise music every week.

I love Death Grips, and "Why a B***h Gotta Lie" was probably my favorite track. The parts where Ride's scream was looped were awesome.

'On GP' is my favorite track of the year so far. Shit hits hard and I'm glad you talked about the lyrics. Reading the lyrics took my appreciation of the song to a new level.

11:11 nice, I never picked up that line just reminds me of the sort of gambling-related bragging on Blackjack "no need to count the deck, I own it" except applied to Russian roulette. oh, and Come Up and Get Me "put a gun to my head, I'll blow smoke in your face" He's unafraid of death. But anyway with that line in particular I think he means "I've never lost a game of Russian roulette" even though he's played it so many times. So not just suicidal, but taking death defying risks and walking away every time. Would that make sense to you Myke?

To the line you referenced on turned off I think you can take it a different way. Instead of suicide think homicide, hes repeatedly shooting at other people but he himself cannot get shot. This was a great video btw always appreciate the content.

Mike, about "Beyond Alive": Don't the guitars sound at all to you inspired by post-punk (I thought of Killing Joke/Joy Division overtones the quickest)? It's clear not only from their earlier sample choices as well as the context in which they were used (take Link Wray's "Rumble", for example, which sonically and thematically jacked right into the heart on "Spread Eagle" like every sample on the debut clearly had at least two levels). I feel the same about the gits for "On GP". Just as a sidenote, it also brought to mind the influence felt and acknowledged strongly in the maturing works of Tricky, Massive Attack and Portishead in the late 90's, but through a new generation and a US lens. I was surprised that no other YT reviewer I found got that feeling... if the guitars were recognized as a good thing, they were mostly seen in a hardcore context (which is clearly in the mix, too). I am rarely moved to chime in, especially on what initially just seems like a parlor trick point, but DG are a band making a body of work that will be recognized, creating a presence of mythic status by walking their own path with explosive passion. If we're going to analyze their world/art as it happens, can't it only serve to enrich the whole thing if young fans are given more potential places to look for things that might really excite the hell outta them? BTW Mike, I'm very glad you do double duty with your solo reviews. You have a great perspective on music, a collection to back it up, a very comfortable screen presence... forgive my ignorance, but do you play at all? You appear to understand musicians more than usual, as well.
