The Dark Magic the Horde employed would lead to a great deal of militarization of both the Church of Light & Wizard of the Kirin Tor, this opened up to create and instate the future roles of battlemages & war clerics, wizards & priests trained in combat application of their magic, thus leading to the creation of the Paladins and founding of the Order of the Silver Hand, the defining edge that would lead the charge of the Alliance in victory, they were the Hammer of Dawn, the most devout, honourable, valiant, pious followers of the Light, While the First generation of the DK's might be seen as simple liches, their dark power made them far stronger than normal men, they were not easy to damage with kinetic attacks, and they could summon black barriers that could block all forms of direct attack, only very skilled or powerful mages & priests could hope to damage them directly, either via mages direct elemental attacks in the form of a torrent of fire, ice. lighting or focused arcane beams, priest would have to be skilled in the arts of consecrations, holy fire usage and exorcisms, this also let them become vulnerable, even after training with the regular army and donning armor, the Paladin's martial prowess coupled with the Light made them the most effective weapons in fighting off the DK., South Shore would be the the very first time they would encounter one another,
