In some cultures it is believed Babies can see Angels and i guess possibly demons since they are still "innocent" "pure" and haven't yet been tainted by the world around them. Therefore they are possibly harnessing that somehow to see the shadow creatures who seems to be a threat to humanity. I wonder if that's what Kojima is going for.

I think the view of Mads that you thought was liquid, is actually the PoV of a baby inside one of those containers, looking at him. The container is filled with some kind of Amniotic fluid, so it's view of Mads would be effected. Outside the container is air.

All I knew about Death Stranding before watching this video was that it had Norman Reedus, Mad Mikkelson and Guillermo del Toro in it. Having seen the trailer now, I... honestly have no idea what to think, except that it looks pretty mind blowing and I'll definitely be checking it at when it's released.

Yeah, I feel like I need to make them a good playlist and send them the link. That happens to be one of my favorites Apocalyptica songs as well. Also, if you don't know them, Vitamin String Quartet is another good symphonic group to check out. A bit less metal and more pop-oriented generally, but still a really good string quartet performing Top 40 covers and even covering entire albums (I really like their cover of Jagged Little Pill). And their discography is absurdly large.

Minor kudos to Guerrilla Games, they might have the best engine in the business right now and basically gave it to Kojima, not only does it look great but if it's like Horizon it'll run like melted butter

Kojima did them a solid too. Worked on that lighting system the moment he got the engine. I think the lighting is much better than H:ZD; it has a more photorealistic feel.

For the record, you don't see a birth canal. In a previous trailer you went down Reedus' mouth, his esophagus, and then you'd see the baby give you a thumbs up. :P I mean, the baby can go literally anywhere, and from my understanding when it feels too threatened it recedes back into your body to protect itself. And I guess you can't use its power then. But this is speculation as it could also be a misdirect, but that is what I got from previous trailers so far. Surprised about the date though, did not expect it to arrive this quickly. Only 3 years after it was first announced, and not even in full development then. They started with that in 2017. This is Kojima showing that he CAN create a game very fast, if he's given more freedom, and deliver something amazing. Probably to show that a lot of issues with the development of MGSV was mainly Konami that was deliberately messing with him. It also probably helped that Guerrilla Games gave him the Decima engine to work with, saving a lot of time of developing their own engine. I am excited, because I always loved the weirdness factor in Kojima's games, this looks like it's turned up to 11. :)

@@OfficialRageGraphics Just a warning because I've seen this same thing happen before on the previous systems. The PC/PS5version for this game is coming out in 2020 and its going to look better on PC than on the PS4 just like how in the last generation Grand Theft Auto 5 came out on PS3 then the next year it came out on PC and PS4 with way better graphics. They're going to do the same with this game.

The black stuff is definitely a transportation device. The necklace the woman in red is wearing has a musical note code on it that when deciphered plays the Low Roar song. The video for that song has people being transported or taken away by a device that has the black ooze on it

Kojima did say that conceptually this was based on "strings" or something and there's a lot of talk about how things are "connected" talk of cables, connecting to the other side, those BT's in the forest were all connected by strands as were those guys with Mads they were tied to him. a long time ago I thought perhaps this was like Purgatory or something but then with the "Time Fall" and being connected to the past it sounds like a bit of wrestling with History and if it should repeat or something.

@@decksteroussnail I can't remember the exact quote it was years ago, but essentially string/strands is the theme so there's probably going to be a lot about different types of connections and how it's like strands tying everything together, like life and death are connected, biological bonds, friendship, love everything could be described as a string connecting to someone or something. I could also be wrong as Kojima has some next level Omega Brain when it comes to concepts.

It sounds like he put a really imaginative spin on it, if it is indeed based on string theory. I'm pretty rusty on a majority of it, but one of the ideas is that everything in our universe is made up of these supremely tiny "strings" that basically vibrate at a certain frequency in our reality. Which brings up one of the questions; do strings that vibrate at a different frequency exist in a different reality? If that ends up being the case, you could theoretically interact with other realities/universes by altering the frequency of strings in our universe.

To be fair, much like they said, this is a bit unusual for them. The channel does play video games on occasion, but their trade in stock is much more RPG streaming and a movie talk show, video games are often more a small time-filler for them. And as someone that doesn't follow video game news much I've barely heard of this game and hadn't seen any trailers myself. But this trailer was certainly worth making an exception for.

I'll also add on to Zac's thoughts there, not only are we getting so many hours of entertainment from these games, but the price of the standard release version of these triple A video games has really defied inflation. I remember a good NES game 30 years ago would typically cost $20. By the time I was buying PS1-PS2 in the early days of PS2 nearly 20 years ago they ranged from $20-$40, and new triple A games were more often closer to that $40 mark. Now PS4 games still stick to the $60 mark they've been at for over a decade, that's not too bad. Especially when you factor in the difference in budget at each of those points in history. NES had no voice acting really. PS2 had little, and certainly not big movie stars. Now we get well known established TV and movie actors not only voicing but doing motion and image capture as well. Not to mention the level of artwork, narrative design, game design, etc. that goes into these games these days. And to bring it back around to what Zac said, the number of hours of entertainment doesn't compare either. Really, by all rights, the standard version of these games should easily be $80-$100 minimum if the price point kept up with both inflation and the increase in quality and total content.

Oh, Hideo Kojima, really, this should have been exactly what I was expecting (in the best way possible), but if I had imagined this I think I would be checking myself into a mental health ward about now. Hearing that del Toro and Kojima were working on a Silent Hill together and then this happened makes the trailer make a bit more sense though. My initial reaction that I still think I'm going to stand by is that I think Kojima decided to try some psychedelics while binge-watching Supernatural and Stranger Things and reading up on the adventures of Lewis and Clark at the same time, sat down to dinner with del Toro and Neil Gaiman to discuss his thoughts, then turned the entire fever dream into a Fallout game. Then just blew every penny he could wrangle on the perfect cast. This role, from what little we can see so far, seems almost tailor-made for Norman Reedus. Then they set the trailer to one of my favorite Apocalyptica songs? If I weren't currently broke I'd be mailing a check for all my money to Hideo Kojima right now just to get this injected straight into my veins as soon as possible.

The only person who was surprised was Adam. Zac and Matt were just laughing with him over it. Adam focuses on movie reviews, not games. So it is very possible he hasn't seen those teasers.

@@PuzzleBox83 I'm sorry, but...if you go to 7:53 it's abundantly clear that all three guys were shocked to see the baby, which was prominently featured in the previous trailers. Not to mention them being surprised by so many other things that they would have seen before like Lea Seydoux being in the game, the floating black "ghosts", Troy Baker's character, Mads' skeleton army, etc. Just to be clear, there's nothing wrong with any of them not having seen those previous trailers, especially if games are outside their wheelhouse. But it's pretty obvious they haven't.

I'd be more excited about Death Stranding if it wasn't a Sony exclusive, but I do love Kojima games. Glad he's finally free from Konami's clutches and can pursue his passions. His games have always had a mix of gameplay and cinematics that I enjoy and I feel are always interesting experiences. Still remember feeling utterly mind blown by the first Metal Gear Solid, even as and after the credits rolled.

The purpose of the trailer is not to make you understand. Its to make you conjure up meaning gradually and discuss until there is discovery. Then the game comes out and you see where you were right and where you were wrong.

Alright im high af and this probably wont make sense or isnt right. At the end when Mads was reading the book do you think it's possible he was reading to someone through the baby? I mean, knowing what we know so far and based off of all the trailers, the babies have been used as a vehicle only to see the BT's. Also, Mads does seem more connected to this "purgatory" side of the world. Idk

Its may have a open world but seems lime there will be a linear story line and maybe a online mode with a more general/open story.

Kojima said there will be long cutscenes..I don't know how you concluded that from the trailers even tho it's says otherwise.

@@ilyakushinvochiva665 trailers make there seem like there is a actual story in crazy open world games with very few cutscenes there is just a lot of good lore. and figured what type of game hasn't been confirmed yet, dont keep up on the news that much so did you officially hear that or are you making assumptions exactly like me?
