Yeah I get eyestrain & dry eye using my phone & laptop. Then I have TV backlight turned down very very low...having it up wants to make my retina sizzle. I also use systane complete up to six times a day.
What about people who already done a retina detachment surgery and have silicon oil injected in the eye, is screen time a risk factor increasing the pressure in the eye?
I started in IT 50 years ago.. I passed my driving license medical at aged 65 without glasses - 5 years ago - but certainly very little exposure to screens of any sort before the age of 20 - so maybe that is more significant..
Yeah... So I did surgery, fixed my eyes and in 1 year I already started seen blurry again. Now, about 2 years later, it's getting bad again. What a pointless experience. Well, if anyone out there is thinking about getting surgery while knowing that your lifestyle requires you to stare at a computer all day, just save yourself the time and don't do surgery.
I disagree, if you eye sight is really bad then i do recommend doing it because at some point it's not possible to do it but it's not that bad then yeah, don't do it
I'm 52, and have had presbyopia with a mild astigmatism since I was 14. I work in IT. I spend o LOT of time with screens. I have normal-age related prescription changes, but can no longer see as far away as once I did due to the astigmatism. I've worn progressive glasses and sunglasses for 26 years, and bifocals for a dozen years before that. I also spent, and yet spend, a lot of times outdoors hiking, kayaking, and similar.
@@DoctorEyeHealth My mother had her first bifocals at 11, so just like my mother my eyes are. The only deviance I have from her are nascent, yet imperceptible to me, cataracts.

Some days are blurrier than others! I found that stress and dry eye symptoms affect my vision when looking at screens and that that depends on the day. When I’m less stressed and anxious, the screen is more clear. That’s been my main guess about the seeming fluctuations.
I can't look at any type of artificially lit digital display without instantly feeling sharp and lasting pain in my eyes. I developed it slowly around 10 years ago, and I strongly suspect my heavy computer use was the cause for the development of my issues. I can look at indirect artificial light, such as a projector or for example reading something which is lit up with a lamp. I have found no solutions other than to avoid lit digital displays completely. The alternatives I found were to use e-ink displays; Hisense A9 for my phone, Dasung Paperlike for my computer monitor. I also rebuilt an old monitor to a TLCD screen, i.e. I removed the backlight and the back frame, and I use sunlight to light the display up from behind. This is similar to an RLCD screen, only the light comes from behind instead of the front. These alternatives are the only ones I can use in order to not feel pain in my eyes. Whenever I avoid artificially lit screens for a while (perhaps a week or more) it takes longer before my eyes start to hurt when looking at an artificially lit screen. So the sensitivity of my eyes is linked to how exposed I am to artificial direct light. I have seen no research on this, as the condition seems rare. Though, I have met one other person in real life who shares my condition. My sources of information for potential solutions have been from the subreddit Eink and from the forum LEDSTRAIN. I hope this has been of help to anyone with similar problems.
Hey thanks for sharing this! I am sure you are not alone. But I myself still need to learn more about how LED/ OLED/ and other screens really function. I learned a lot in my vision science courses but they never went that deep into screen technology.
I started wearing glasses at age 4 and pretty much failed my eye test every year in school. My myopia got progressively worse each year until I was about -12 in the left and -10 in the right. This was back in the 80s and 90s. However, once I was in high school, college, and grad school, things leveled off. I'm 45 now and terrified of retinal issues due to the myopia, but my prescription hasn't changed much in the last 20 to 25 years (aside from starting to need bifocals).
I was told I had 20/20 vision most of my life. Never had issues with my eyes until after I started a job that required me to look at a screen for 8 hours a day. My eyes started to hurt, and things from a far started to look out of focus. Went to test my eyes last week, only to find out I am near sighted with an astigmatism. Now need glasses. Your videos have helped a lot with understanding what everything means. Thank you ❤
I'm just curious, when you were working on that job, how many hours of sunlight did you get on average? Because I've been reading some studies that imply that the lack of sunlight could cause myopia. Sunlight is needed to produce enough of a certain hormone (idk the name) that is needed to stop your eyes from growing.
I have a question. I was playing with my dog when it jumped on me and its teeth touched my aye. My dog didnt bite my aye it just felt like scratch. The other aye see evrything more red. Do i need to see a doctor? Or it will go away after time?
If screen light effects the eyes, then.. HOW THE HELL DOES STAYING OUTSIDE AT DAYTIME NOT DAMAGE THEM? the sun makes more blue light than goofy screen, and the sun is MUCH brighter than one the eyes literally adapt to different brightness how you saw in the video (I didn't watch the video i just talked)
I did do this video on dark circles, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YXLV7OvB7SE.html but there are some minor updates so maybe I can make another video too Either way, hope this video helps!
I I’m 34. I have spent a lot of my life in front of tvs and screens. My myopia has always been bad, but I had never experienced eye strain or dry eyes until recently. Until recently, where I felt like my eyesight was declining at a much more noticeable pace. Sometimes, it feels like my eyes become instantly irritated as I try to look at a screen now. Its made it very hard for me to do the things I once loved. I read that having an inaccurate prescription or I corrected vision problems on lenses can contribute to eye strain. I’m a -17 in my left and -13 in the right with varying astigmatism in both. My doctor thinks RGP contacts will give me better vision, but I didn’t ask about eye strain or the dry eye I can’t seem to shake. I don’t have the contacts yet, but I still worry about how irritated my eyes are almost constantly now…
Hello, I wanted to say I’ve really enjoyed your videos. As a gamer who use to spend 5 hours playing video games in one sitting, I do believe it’s possible to damage your eyes looking at screens. I also have an ultra wide monitor which doesn’t help. About 4 month ago I was on vacation and I spent way too much time playing wow and I noticed after that week I was unable to look my monitor without my eyes watering or feeling like they were burning. It wasn’t just that monitor though, it was any screen that was bigger than my phone. Warm compresses did seem to help but only temporarily. I tried every over the counter eye drop I could get my hands on and none of them seemed to make a difference. Gel eye drops perhaps helped slightly, but again it was only temporary relief. Recently I went to see an eye doctor, and I was diagnosed with dry eyes. My doctor prescribed Retasis, hopefully it will help. Because of how my eyes felt I had to give up gaming. With gaming being a huge part of my life it was honestly very depressing.. So I wanted to say thanks for all the videos you’ve made on eye health. Your videos have been been educational and helpful.
I also can't look at any form of LCD/OLED etc screen. So I built my own TLCD screen (monitor without backlight) and I have no eye issues with it. I also use a Dasung E-ink monitor, but you can't game on it as it has a low refresh rate. Also Hisense A9 phone. It's the only phone I can use without eye issues.
Ugh, I can feel your pain a bit. I love gaming too and it's one of my fears that one day my eyes would fail and I would struggle to be able to play games. Bad dry eyes while gaming was the first symptom I ever had of dry eyes (mostly from playing BIoshock 2 online back in the day). Out of curiosity, ever looked into moisture chamber goggles?
@@DoctorEyeHealthi am also a huge gamer that has been struck down with dry eyes. It is awful. Whenever my eyes feel well enough to play, i play, and then they feel bad again. I've struggled to give it up.
The trend for vilifying blue light bothers me. I think it's important to manage due to the neurological effects mentioned, but, as far as circadian rhythm, that doesn't mean cutting it out wholesale. It means reducing it and cutting it out toward the evening. During the day, it's better not to block it. People are already often sleep deprived and dependent on caffeine, so having excessive melatonin during the day because they're blocking blue light isn't going to help their energy levels. Also per working up close, this is why I think we need to be more careful with not just screen time but reading time with kids. There's always this push for more reading, and indeed the mental stimulation and intellectual growth that comes with that is important. But I think it needs to be balanced to try and avoid eye related issues. The breaks and outside time mentioned are good examples of this, and something I'll definitely want to keep in mind if/when I end up raising kids of my own.
Thank you for noticing and giving me that feedback! I have been doing a lot of self-reflection and decided I wanted to do more deep dives into topics. I also value the scientific evidence and want to provide resources for other people who want to read more into it all. Thanks again!
i really did notice when i stare at a screen to long like my left eye get sort of annoyed and when i take off my glasses and just look away from the computer my eyes feel great
Hi Dr, I want just to tell you that I am really satisfied with your work. I have never had an experience before about glasses and as well protection for my eye during staring at screens and from sun lights. but now I have a photochromic, AR coated glass. I saw your videos then decided to have what kind of eye glass I need to have as a beginner in order to protect my eyes from lights. I thank you very much. From Ethiopia 👍👍👍🤜🤜🤜
Unfortunately, not one glasses with protection against blue light will not help you (they only block blue light, not flickering). Because the cause of dry eyes and eye pain from a monitor or phone is precisely PWM flickering in 80% . look for a monitor with the lowest PWM. Good luck
That's not necessarily astigmatism. It just means the object is out of focus. You need better glasses. And to answer your question, yes it is common to have astigmatism. Probably 90% of people have some non-zero amount
Yes It can , too much screen time (in med school) and very little sleep has caused me to develop eye floaters. I took a bunch of vitamins and now it seems like my vitreous has liquified 😢😢😢😢 and I’m only 31 yrs old 😢
@@satyalouis-guepin7692 it’s started during the last week of May … so far it seems like there is much fluid movement in my eyes like I am having to stare through a wet rainy lens all the time. Honestly I feel down about the whole time. I stopped taking all the vitamins now.
@@Akira-jd2zr going to a retina specialist on Friday to find out 😢 I have been juicing a glass of carrots juice daily and it’s been helping 🥕 the movement has slowed and I am also praying immensely to God🙏🏽
@@satyalouis-guepin7692 it’s gotten better in the sense of getting lighter and thinner, they float to the bottom beneath my view most time , also I have noticed that fasting, drinking a tall glass of carrot 🥕 juice and 8 hrs of sleep is helping immensely. I literally had to take time off work to rest and do nothing. I stopped all forms of multivitamins including vitamin c , a , Lutein and xananthine , fish oil, coq 10 and a bunch of others that i started taking because I do desperately wanted to get rid of the floaters I developed. Also adding yoga soon just to try and relax. I saw 2 ophthalmologists and they both said my Retina is fine and come back if I see more floaters or curtain darkness (which I rebuked and prayed against (God forbid). I will go see a retina specialist on Friday.
Hello. Thank you for your usefull videos. I have a question. I am 25 and i had healthy eye . I just diagnosed with 0.75 astigmatism and my doctor said that is because of over using of mobile and laptop. Could this happen in this age just because of screen?
I am not trying to be rude but I put the phone down to not stare at your video and I swear I was hearing kermit the frog speaking about screen time and your eyes. No disrespect, kermit is AMAZING! So are you! ❤

Thanks for shedding more light on how our eyes react to screens! I'm having eye strain since a couple of years and am still trying to find a way out of this. Researching back and forth, it seems that there are several factors in newer technology that may cause it (temporal dithering, maybe other things we don't know about). It seems like most people can manage a bit of eye strain, but for some people, it makes screens unbearable. :( I really hope that both hardware and software will become more eye safe in the next couple of years! 🙏
Thanks for mentioning the temporal dithering, I personally don't know too much about it but I know a few companies that manufacture computers are doing a lot of research on it to try and make screens safer for the eyes. Perhaps one day I can collab with some tech channel on it 😃
@@DoctorEyeHealth Temporal dithering is a form of sub pixel flickering to get smoother color gradients, as far as I understood. It's a possible suspect for some people's eyestrain and there's barely any way to turn it off in modern systems which is a bummer. But anyway, it's great to hear that there are tech people out there that are working on solutions for our eyes! A collab would be awesome! :)
I use many eye medications, prescribed by my ophthalmologist, so my question is should I clean my eyes with water every time I use one of the eye medications? Does it affect the efficacy of the product?
@DoctorEyeHealth Have you seen research on the effects of long term use of VR headsets? I was involved with the development of a VR headset for the video gaming industry around 2000. The market was killed when a major safety rating authority pulled their approval of the game systems. My understanding is the major issue was concern about effects on depth perception after long term use of VR headsets. VR is “stereoscopic” (2 images) and not really 3 dimensional since the focus plane/point is fixed. That is, the eye and brain are not getting the focusing location as a cue for determining distance in a VR headset. There were reports of people playing the VR games for hours, then being unable to mindlessly navigate a step down at a curb. The large arcade chains like Dave & Busters have liability insurance that requires games to carry all appropriate safety ratings. Losing the safety rating killed that particular headset market at that time.
All the studies that I've read say that only children have a risk of myopia progression from near work. So I'm surprised to hear you say that this also includes adults. I'll have to read through the sources that you linked in the description.
Hi! Any chance to do a video about corneal neuropathic pain/corneal neuralgia? Sadly there's not a lot of information about that condition around, raising awareness about it could vastly help patients who are misdiagnosed as severe dry eye for months or even years while being in enormous pain.
Would you consider examing and possibly explaining the character of Derpy Hooves from "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic". She has an 👁️ condition that results in her 👀 facing different directions. We see in a flashback that she developed this condition while very young, and it progressivly got worst over time. I've always wondered how bad someone with this conditions vision would actually be. Would they be constantly misjudging depth and misreading things, or is it something she could learn to overcome with time and effort?!
Woah! Very cool question. Had to look up Derpy Hooves lol. Eye misalignments are called "strabismus". There are different forms based on how the eyes are aligned and how they move. For derpy, based on the images I saw, it seems like one of her eyes is angled up and to the nose, and the other is more down and to the nose. A person with that type of alignment would either 1) see double all of the time, or 2) suppress one eye and only consciously view out of one dominant eye, unless the dominant eye was covered, then the nondominant eye would un-suppress and start seeing again. Since this character may have developed it as a young child, they probably have learned to suppress one eye, otherwise, it would make it very difficult to function seeing double all the time. A person who is monocular or suppresses one eye may find some depth perception difficult, but most people with only one eye still understand and perceive depth due to environmental cues. Hope this helps! loved this question.
Good information , thanks. Please address the whitish mucus that occurs several times a day, always upon waking from night of sleep. My eye doctor refuses to even acknowledge it when I specifically asked about it.
this is most likely a piece of the mucin layer - this is not very good, then it occurs with dry eye syndrome, which often occurs due to poor quality technology and flickering
I'm personally looking for more specific information. I'm surprised you just talked about "screens" in general. There are so many different types of screens LED, LCD, FHD, AMOLED etc etc resolutions etc and all other factors like that (that I don't know how to communicate intelligibly) that I imagine make a difference. For example, when I look at old macs with Retina display, I feel ok, but the most updated Samsung television, with that super high-res almost gives me a headache! I would like more info about what actual screen types are better for our eyes.
12:00 I know that you do not understand the concept, but early myopia can be prevented, when still at 20/50. It takes great intelligence, objective resolve to do it personally and successfully.
I've been staring at computer screens for near 20yrs now (job related, so I'm in front of them all day long). My problem however, is my near vision is getting worse. My far distance vision is very good.
heyy! i’ve been asking this to so many doctors but none understood me lol, I’ll try to tell you. So, Since 2021 I started to have a bigger allergy and it always appears in my eyes, I used to rub them a lot, I had no idea how bad this is for the eyes. There came a time when my left eye got a bigger eyelid, or droopy as they say. My question is if there is any way to make my right eye have a bigger eyelid too, basically that’s it
I had perfect vision all my life, then I started to having blurred vision of medium to distant objects, when I started working from home. 3 years in this condition, but after playing with my high fps camera in my phone, I saw that the lights in my house has a severe flicker. My TV has flicker, and my OLED phone has flicker! I changed the lights, TV and phone to ones that don't have these dammed flicker. Result? My vision have been restored 95% after 2 years. Maybe some damage can't be reversed. LISTEN PEOPLE, FLICKER DAMAGES your EYES.
One question.....will i have any permanent damage to my eye of i see tv from 9ft for 5 hours. And after few hours break....i use mobile for 4 hours...i see tv from morning 10am for 5 hours. And then mobile from evening 7 pm for 4 hours. Will it cause permanent damage to my eye
Outside I do not use any prescription glasses but I use in this Arizona like semi desert hot climate allmost allways sunglasses. Sunglasses have improved a lot my eye condition since I got allways an scratch feeling in the eye outside without sunglasses. My eye doctor said that was an overdose of UV rays. Then I use 2 different strenghts or 2 different recipes of prescription glasses. The idea is to relax or force with each recipe differently the muscles in the eye. I figured that and not my eye doctor. So I use only on the PC at home prescription glasses and for watching movies I use the other pair. The rest of the day I do not use prescription glasses at all. So the eyes adjust somehow to these 3 different scenarios. Phone and tables I use allways without any prescription glasses. On Windows 11 I have the nightmodus allways on on 12 points. That reduces considerably the blue light and gives an beige/pergament colour to the screen comforting the eyes. This 2 different prescription glasses method and no glasses at all most of the day (at a farm) I believe uses the muscles in the eye in different amounts as an kind of automatic eye muscle exercise. The biggest improvement which has stopped basically completely digital eye tiredness or digital eye strain is the modern screen technology. Since not all monitors are up to the most modern technology, there seems to be some people who still get digital eye strain. I went through the CRT monitors which where the worst tech ever and most likely damaged my eyes. Those early 1990's and 2000's CRT monitors caused lots of eye strain. Do never use them again. Then the flat monitors showed up which where basically LCD monitors. Those caused as well eye strain since the picture angle was just right centered on the flat screen. What causes digital eye strain? This: Forcing the eyes to look for an sharp image on the screen and that is caused by constantly forcing the eyes to look for the right spot for best angle of attack on the picture on the screen. That constantly monitoring tires the eyes since they force themselves constantly to get an sharp image. That is the root cause of digital eye strain. The lack of focus on the monitor screens so the human eye constantly tries to focus without rest. As well an LED screen on an laptop does no good for the eyes. As my 17" laptop screen forced my eyes constantly as well. Which makes the difference and is the single tech which solves the problem of digital eye strain? That is the IPS technology. The In Plane Switching technology give an 178 degree sharp image (basically 90 degrees from all sides and top and bottom) automatically. The IPS technology provides some sort of an autofocus for the human eyes so the image is allways sharp from 178 degrees angle. THAT made for me the game changer and the only difference. Plus my monitor has an ambient light sensor which automatically adjusts the monitor brightness according to the optimum for the human eye using the ambient light sensor. Plus it has an eye care package built in (BenQ 24" IPS 1080p 60 Hz monitor) so I can manually reduce the blue light 30% or 50%. Then my glasses have antireflective which my optic says that reduces the blue light about 20%. So my monitor has an pergament or kind of beige colour background which is supposed to be the best for the human eye. Also does the screen of my smartphone and tablet having an pergament colour background. With my IPS monitor I can now sit on the screen basically 8 hours straight without getting tired on the eyes. What makes a difference is as well the size of the screen. Do not use an screen smaller than 24 inches. 17 inches is to small. A tablet can have an 7 to 9 inches screen but then you are not supposed to stare at the screen constantly. Do not work on the tablet and not even thing of working or gaming on the smartphone. A smartphone is for phoning, using once in a while per day WhatsApp or messenger, checking occasionally the email and that's it. A tablet is only for entertainment. Do not watch movies on the tablet lest smartphone but for movies your desktop monitor of 24" or greater is there. A tablet it for watching RU-vid videos, occasional email check and occasional surf on the web - that's it. The tablet is majorly for listen to the RU-vid videos and the occasional look at the screen. All other tasks like typing this comment must be done on the 24 inch main monitor of your desktop PC. An too small screen, being it IPS or not will damage your eyes and tire your eyes pretty soon. Screen size matters alongside the IPS technology most. An built in light sensor and automatic light intensity adjustment by the monitor helps as well big time. Then your glasses should have antireflective and UV400 protection. As far as I know only the brand BenQ has such complete monitors with eye care package built in as hardware. This is my personal experience and I believe it can be valid universally for most people.

Thank you for your amazing work! I learn a lot with you. I have a question : is it real ortho K can help fix our vision by wearing it at night? Have you done a video about it? Johny
Why do my eyes look tired most of the time. I used to have small eyelids and large eyes few years back. Now I have large eyelids and small eyes which makes me look tired and gloomy. Is this because of too much screen time? How can i get my old energetic eyes back?
i started wearing glasses since i was ~7. i played 30-60m of flash games weekly, my main source of entertainment was a soccer ball and a brother. my current eyesight is -8.5, education in china was no joke. also gotta mention poor lighting and terrible air quality. kids should not be subjected to such cruel long hours of school work, then the endless homework. especially coming from someone with adhd, i believe it's harming us more than helping us, killing our eyes and creativity
Omg I recently moved my iPad little bit far away and I found some relieve a lot of pole need to k ow this Apple is making this glasses to make zero distance with our eyes and the screen ? How will our future be like ?😢
I just need to know, should you have high brightness in a dark room, or low brightness in a dark room? I heard having low light in a dark room is worse. Just want to know whats best.
I'm sorry if I'm being a bother I wanted to ask what it means when your eyes feel like they want to roll up in your head or you see white and gold flashes like wing feathers. I'm afraid and no one has been able to explain what it means cohesively Figured I'd ask someone way more experienced, please
hello Doctor , I really get a lot of information form you but I have one problem that There is no translation of what you say it doesn't mean I don't understand it , but I still learning about English I want you to write what you saying in video and the RU-vid will automatically translate it to all languages
Dr . Allen, I thanks for your work . I am 17 and I have been suffering from dry eye for two years . Now I use almost all treatment methods that you recommended ( Omega-3, good sleep , blinking, physical activity, oil based drops and ointments , warm compresses , glasses against wind ) . I have lost about 40 % of meobian glands. Can I restore my glands ? You actually told a lot of about managing this disease , long term battle. I understand that is life long disease, but are there at least some studies that show that meobian glands can be grow back?
Hi Dr Allen I’m a big fan of your channel 😊 I was wondering if you could include neuropathic dry eye/blepharitis in upcoming content? I am in my 20s and work as a dentist but have been really struggling with this for around 9months, so much so that I am unable to work due or function properly due to facial pain and eye pain. I have tried absolutely everything (home care/ in office treatments/ medications from my doctor and ophthalmologist). The only things I haven’t tried yet are scleral lenses do you think these would be helpful? All other diagnoses have been ruled out regarding scans and tests. Thank you so much👁️
Wow thanks for asking!!! I know we have a pretty blocked schedule for videos over the next few months, but perhaps we can do a livestream on it. Have you had lasik or any eye surgeries? Any thoughts to how it all started?
@@DoctorEyeHealth That would be amazing!!🙌 it developed quite suddenly when I moved to a new city and apartment for a new job- rapid onset of severe dry eye, blepharitis, facial pain and some skin flushing with no history of any of these before. I only had occasional dry eye with contact lenses in the past.
Computers are the the way of the future so can't they make screen light safer for our eyes or glasses we can wear when using screens that can protect our eyes?
Real quick: blue light lens coatings are not necessary!! I worked in data entry for 6 years. It didn't take long to start getting headaches and sore eyes. In 2023, all of our devices have methods of lowering blue light levels for free. Whether it be manually lowering the blue levels in the settings of your computer monitor or TV, or using software within the operating system like the "Night Light" setting. Yes, it changes the appearance of your screens, but it doesn't need to be very strong to be effective. 25% on the nightlight is plenty for regular use. Use it for a little while and then turn it off. The blue light will blind you. You'll never wanna turn night light off again. 😂 Also, turn down your brightness. You really don't need more than like 50% unless you're in direct sunlight. If you don't mind spending money on something that you can already fix for free, then go ahead, but the free alternative is more pleasant and natural to the eye anyways. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hi Dr. I’m a new flight attendant and is it safe to wear contactlenses during my flight? My prescription is -3.50. I dont like eyeglasses they make me feel light headed
Yes, contact lenses should not be an issue on flights but they may dry out faster due to air flow/ humidity on the plane. Some people may benefit from using artificial tear drops for contact lenses.
You're only talking about flat screens though. Put your face up close to a monitor with a tube in it and you'll be hurling your head away from the screen and closing your eyes in pain within 2-3 seconds. It's an intense and very immediate stinging.
Hi doctor! I’ve been looking through your videos and I’ve been wondering which eyelid cleanser would you consider to be the best option for very dry eyes/ buildup of bacteria on the lash lines
May not be the exact video for this question, and I asked this on one of your older videos (sorry for the duplicate). OK so I have the normal vision (no prescription) and i'm 57 years old with normal Presbyopia - to the tune of needing 1.75 to 2.0 for up close reading. I have found over the years that the Foster Grant multi focus glasses (zero at the top and 1.75 or 2.0 at the bottom) are perfect and continue to be perfect over the past 6 or so years for me. My problem is that I really want a better quality pair (better glass) that is more scratch resistance, etc. HOWEVER- I've actually tried three different times with three different ophthalmologists to literally have them replicate the exact grinding of the Foster Grant Multi focus. They failed miserably all three times. Not even close. I'm willing to pay top dollar for the better glass and better coating. My question is, why can't they get it right? Also, those three fails were probably 3 or 4 years ago, so I'm wondering if the big two grinding companies have gotten any better over the past 3 to 4 years? Is it worth trying again? By the way, I totally get that it's not the ophthalmologist's fault; they don't grind the glass themselves of course. I just want Exactly what those super cheap Foster Grant Multi focus offers in a much better quality material. Totally worth it for me to pay the $500 to $600 for the lenses vs the dirt cheap $35 for the CVS Multi-focus ones. My hope is that some day the big grinders figure this out, OR that Foster Grant branches out with a matching line of high dollar better quality longer lasting lenses. those cheapies from CVS have zero swim effect and absolutely perfect for computer-mid and up close reading. I would think there are Millions and Millions of regular age-impaired people just like myself that would jump at the higher quality glass. What say you good doctor? (love your videos).

Ive seen people i know before phone addiction saw fine. After phone addiction theyre cross eyed and damn near blind. This guy knows that. Everyone knows that. Upclose screen time strains ur eyes after just a few minutes. We can all feel it. Go outside and focus on something far away.
I have been detected recently with mild glaucoma .. I am using glasses from last 16 years with myopia and astigmatism.. I have -3. 75 sph and -2. 50 cyl in right eye and -3. 5 sph and -1. 25 cy in left eye.. What should I do now.. What should be the treatment options for me..
Hi Doctor...I am 19 years old...and I have started using mobile phone for loger periods of time consistently for around 6 months now.... I got my personal phone only when I was 18 and thus not used to this long screen time.. Recently I felt that when I try to take a glance at something, I feel that there is a lag for focusing on that for 1sec or so... I have my prescription glasses on all the time and 4,5 in left and right respectively.. So I am scared... Pls tell me what is happening and how I can control it
I grew up with gameboy, and then up to 16h of PC use almost every single day. I'm 0, -1 and -0.75, -0.75 so hasn't been too bad for me personally. Hasn't gotten worse in the last like 10 or so years either
What do you think about OLED pc monitor or OLED laptop screen, are they worst for our eyes than IPS or TN screens / panels ? I was thinking about buying a new laptop with OLED screen but now I'm not very sure if it will be worst for my eyes (actually I have a 60hz IPS screen) Glossy vs Matte which one could be worst for our eyes? :( Thanks a lot for the video I really like it. Have a good day!
I have been using smartphones for over 10 years, and for the past 2 years, I can no longer look at a smartphone screen. Within a few seconds, I get severe headaches. I and many others have this problem. It can't be that we are imagining these headaches. It only happens when I look at a smartphone or tablet screen. By the way, I don't wear glasses, and my eye doctor said my eyes are healthy.
Now imagine myopia progression but with vr/ar headsets and stuff. If computer screens and near work are bad, imagine how much worse these headsets are gonna be given especially that even with computers and mobile phones, we are on track to have every second person myopic by 2050.
I've been building and using computers for 27 years, and before that from 1979 I was squinting at a 1.5" B&W CRT Video Camera Viewfinder through one eye! ... My prescription has barely altered in 40 years (I'm now 61). What HAS changed recently, is looking through a cloud of floaters in both eyes! EDIT: In contrast to the views expressed in the video, I can honestly say that as far as I'm aware, my myopia is NOT progressing! BLUE LIGHT: I'm rather photosensitive, so I set my screens brightness very low (10% on the Tablet I'm writing this comment on at night).
