I personally really love Lextek, I think most of my exhausts in the future will be Lextek, I am certainly planning on putting on my project A2 bike. I was already plenty impressed by the 160 pound full system for my MT125, so I don't think I'll be disappointed any time soon. If it's dry when you're near Exeter, I'd recommend going along the A30 a bit and dart off towards Exmouth, gorgeous beach town with some really lovely roads around it. If I see you (supposing it is dry), I'll be sure to give a nod or 20

Another great insight video 👍🏼 Would be keen to hear if the rest process you described made any difference & the thoughts of the triumph techs. Reason being I have a decat header waiting to go on my Speed Triple R (17) but don’t want the fueling to be poor & risk damage by running too lean etc. Any thoughts welcomed 👍🏼 & will keep an eye on for the follow up video. I replaced my end can with a much more free flowing option a couple of months back, been convinced the mapping isnt right since, will give the ECU reboot a go first thing tomorrow now I've seen this video. I'm tempted to get the rest of the system if the ECU can be made to "re-learn" the pipe. Interested to see what figures come back from your dyno trip.

This seemed to be fine on the standard map. I had the bike serviced yesterday and instead of going through the process I described in the video the Triumph Tech did the reset for me. I then went for a 45 or so minute ride, and all seemed good. I will keep an eye on it, then report back when i've had the chance to get it on the dyno....

It’s quiet. I’ve noticed recently some full systems ending up quieter than a slip-on. The reflash will improve it, even if you just do the factory one. Triumph has fantastic stock fuel mapping but a full exhaust will change the airflow and will benefit from tuning.

I just recently traded a cruiser bike for an XCA. Absolutely love it. But after a few hours on the road at 60-70 mph, perhaps around 3k rpms.... the getting used to the screaming, high pitched noise is becoming a problem for me. Any suggestions other than using ear plugs and maybe a new exhaust? My focus is not performance but noise/frequency reduction. The sound in your video is great, throaty. But seems to be taken from behind the can. From your riding position, do you hear a lower frequency noise, or still i high pitch whine from the engine below? Would a low pitch exhaust solve my problem or i will still hear the screaming engine below me? Thanks!
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto 3 года назад
Yes it sounds great, particularly when riding round the twisties, but I found this can too 'high pitched' on longer motorway journeys, after about half an hour at a constand 70mph it was getting on my nerves. I'll be posting an update video soon.
@petepinheiro1600
@petepinheiro1600 3 года назад
@@mancavemoto so far, ear plugs are working well for me. i dont hear much anything else, but still feel safer on the XCA than on my cruiser. Probably better bike, more aggressive riding position. After seeing many videos, I was thinking Akrapovic had the throatiest noise of all. But i go on their website and the sampling audio files from the stock exhaust and Akrapovic sound exactly the same for an untrained ear like mine. It all seems very confusing to me, and i would want to understand better before I shell out $800 for a new system. So far, $20 ear plugs are doing the trick. my only resort is to ask guys like you and others that wnt through the experience of changing the exhaust and understanding your perspective from how it sounds in the actual cockpit (not from an observer standpoint, which i dont really care much about as long as I'm not making much noisier). Looking forward to more video updates on this. Thanks!

Thanks, no noticeable change to either to be honest. The benefits are less weight and a different exhaust note. The decat header does reduce the heat that the cat used to put out, but it’s not massively different

Sounds much better than I could capture in the video tbh. It would sound good and would save a big chunk of weight. But it is surprising how much the cat affects the exhaust note. When I fitted an xpipe to my Street Twin with the stick exhaust, the change in sound was quite dramatic

Its been great, but I have to admit to switching the end can back to stock. Emissions? Environmentally responsible?
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto 4 года назад
Good point Paul, Its certainly a thorny subject and is something I weighed up before fitting the pipe. Catalytic converters do obviously cut back on noxious exhaust emissions. Without testing its hard to say exactly what change this exhaust makes, but given that the use of the bike is relatively light, it may be not much? Can this be offset by the reduction in heat and the subsequent more fuel efficient running of the engine? Somewhat I would say. One of the converters roles is to convert Carbon Monoxide into Carbon Dioxide, which is still the biggest contributer to greenhouse gases. Also the converters use Platinum and Palladium for the conversion process, both of which create there own massive environmental pollution problems (although this is obviously a moot point given that the bike already had a cat on it). The Tiger engine is already highly efficient, interestingly the cat was much smaller on this bike than I have seen on many others. So weighing it all up, I don't feel as if its an overly irresponsible act?
@aapddd
@aapddd 4 года назад
Manufacturers keep castrating their bikes to meet regulations. In reality they go to far bij making the engine too lean. That causes a bad running underpowered engine that uses more fuel than a tuned bike. The cat is there for a reason but I don't think the difference is that big.
@davehewlett1971
@davehewlett1971 2 года назад
Very over simplified. It's not that easy, believe me. Also release the radiator mounts to get the job done.
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto 2 года назад
It wasn't simplified that much. I didn't think anyone would need instructions on how to undo bolts. Yes they are fiddly to get to and having a selection of spanners and socket arms helps, but there was no need to realease the rad mounts if you take your time.
