A chance to remember the east side of Decatur back in the early Fifties. Decatur was a post-war town with industry and small businesses making the east side a good place to live and work.
Originally presented via Zoom on May 2 @ 7pm CST. The Presenters are: Gary Geisler, Dr. Stephen Huss, and Pat Riley.

Thank you so very much for compiling this informative video and all the photographs! We didn't move here until 1985, but I remember well many of these places. My daughter went to Coppenbarger for 1st grade, quite a drive away from our house. I loved, and do miss Swartz Restaurant ... and all the bowling alleys!! Many other places too. The architecture of many buildings, incldg. schools were quite beautiful back then, I wonder why many newer businesses are building big square box-style? (I'm thinking about the newer Kreckles buildings for instance)
