I've been using a Focus 110 for a few years. It's a tremendous light modifier. Particularly when you don't have a lot of space to work in and need to set up and break down quickly. It's very compact and easy to pack, unlike a 70 CM beauty dish or a Para. It pops right into the side pocket of my lighting kit backpack. I also have a Para 133 and would of course prefer to use it whenever possible but that's 2 more cases to carry and a much larger stand to support it.
Hi, it would depend on the umbrella whether it was a shoot through, a silver or a white reflective. On a shoot through not much at all as the light is already heavily diffused, the same for a white reflective and then some slight softening on a silver one which has harder characteristics to begin with. Please see some of our other lighting modifier videos in this playlist.
Purchased one of these based on your food lessons. Creates amazing light in combo with my godox lights. I ended up buyong a Broncolor softbox becausr I was so impressed with the Focus 110. For food work its great and provides so much light for creating those "natural light" feel images.
