Nobody gonna take my car I'm gonna race it to the ground Nobody gonna beat my car It's gonna break the speed of sound Oooh it's a killing machine It's got everything Like a driving power big fat tires And everything I love it and I need it I bleed it Yeah it's a wild hurricane Alright hold tight I'm a highway star Nobody gonna take my girl I'm gonna keep her to the end Nobody gonna have my girl She stays close on every bend Oooh she's a killing machine She's got everything Like a moving mouth body control And everything I love her I need her I seed her Yeah she turns me on Alright hold on tight I'm a highway star Nobody gonna take my head I got speed inside my brain Nobody gonna steal my head Now that I'm on the road again Oooh I'm in heaven again I've got everything Like a moving ground an open road And everything I love it and I need it I seed it Eight cylinders all mine Alright hold on tight I'm a highway star Nobody gonna take my car I'm gonna race it to the ground Nobody gonna beat my car It's gonna break the speed of sound Oooh it's a killing machine It's got everything Like a driving power big fat tires And everything I love it and I need it I bleed it Yeah it's a mad hurricane Alright hold on tight I'm a highway star I'm a highway star I'm a highway star
Highway Star, written on the bus on the way to a concert."How do you write a song Richie"who was fiddling with a banjo,"Well like this".Worked out and played that night at the gig.
Just imagine/ when they were performing this from their "next" album/ no one hearing it here even knew what it was or what was coming from that record !!!###
I've heard about Richie Blackmore's aversion to being filmed while he's playing, but if the camera guy had the sack to film him halfway through his solo, what the hell kept him from filming Blackmore from the start? That would've been bad ass.
This is the same video that's used for this song but it's Deep Purple Made In Japan. After working in the music industry for 37 years nothing has surprised me anymore.. Nothing !
Not the biggest Purple fan. Jon Lord to me is what made it special and different. All of them incredible players. The individual skill may have been unparalleled. Zeppelin being the other.
If this is of one, live performance, then there was more than one camera so your naive estimation of an individual camera operator’s attraction to Ian Gillan is pure speculation and irrelevant. It’s the director/producer who controls them and the post-edit. Typical of the time and perception of the viewing public’s need, the vocalist would get the most attention as they sang. Admittedly when Richie Blackmore solos, you’d expect some footage of that even if it was in a wide shot. The story of the clip overall is more about the dynamics of the new song and the interaction between the band and the crowd. The distraction in the front rows obviously got Ian’s attention and affected his concentration enough for him to want to intervene.
