there's like no show to it at all; not even a lightshow, which is just fine, because those guys are such amazing musicians; they don't need the show elements ... they're just that good !
I have a guy who works with me who is literally half my age (25) and it's shocking at how little past music knowledge he has (life choice I'm sure but music is history)....
if this doesn’t make you miss the 70’s nothing will. Great bands with exceptional talent rolling through town every week of the year. What an amazing time to be a rocker and concert goer. How far we’ve sunk since then.......
I like those festival gigs from the late 60s, where you'd get Joplin, The Who, Zeppelin, The Airplane, Ten Years After, The James Gang... etc just steamrolling you with the most amazing, fresh, and energetic music.
Too bad Gillan's not in perfect voice but so what? Your point is still very true. In terms of musical quality and probably variety, the 70's were light years ahead of today's dross.
Blackmore is loving it I wonder I Ian just thought of doing it and went for it or if they worked on it cause Blackmore kinda looked surprised for a second and started to go with Ian whatever happened it was so awesome. That was Rock and Roll.
Ian Gillian - one of rock's best vocalists... Powerful... and and so highly underrated. He deserves more. The band deserves more. They belong in the RRHF!
С п а с и б о !!!!!!!👍💖🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎼🎶🎵💖
Ian Gillan, one of the GREATEST rock vocalists of all time. I like how between Strange Kind Of Woman and Lazy on the Made In Japan album, he says, hey....Hey.....HEY.....HEYYYYYYYYY!!! Deep Purple Mk II line-up one of the best rock line-ups EVER!!
Just music and musicianship. No poncing on stage. No stupid theatrics. No strutting about with a guitar and a violin bow. Get on stage and play ROCK. I was only 6 when Mk.2 were rockin the world. Best DP lineup
@@ariowibowo9353 I think he has a great voice but that mk of Deep Purple went in a different direction to this mk. Both are great and I grew up more with Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale but changed my mind later. This line up (above) is the real Deep Purple like Connery is the real Bond lol. In Rock is masterful far more so than Machine Head. Machine Head is a bit more mainstream in some respects but In Rock and Fireball are raw and edgy albums whereas Machine Head has all the production values and glamour - though it still a great album esp Highway Star. God I love that song.
I was at this performance in the Felt Forum. I saw Carol King play a free concert in Central Park earlier that day. A little difference in music styles, but what a day for music.
A superlative degree in musicianship. The way Ritchie Blackmore changes the accent of the beat in the intro is masterful,as is the performance of the whole band.
The peak of Deep Purple. 1973, fresh off Machine Head and Made in Japan. Right up there with Led Zep, The Who, Black Sabbath, and let's not forget Uriah Heep, in popularity (Queen would actually be a couple of years later). I'm amazed sometimes by how little hard rock fans today know about DP.
Saw rory Gallagher deep purple and fleetwood mac on same venue in 71 I wish I could remember more of the show but rory Gallagher really stood out great show
1973 I picked up my first bass guitar , laid it down for 10 years , started back 4 years ago haven't stopped yet. Music like this keeps me playing. Bands like Deep Purple kept me out of trouble back then.
DP. This is power, power ! Gillans vocal cords, like Blecmores guitar strings ! Uneffless ! Sea of love! The heart belongs to DP ...
Cloud Maister - Don't forget Grand Funk Railroad, Mott the Hoople, Alice Cooper, Free, Bad Company, Amboy Dukes, early Steve Miller Band, James Gang, Mountain, Molly Hatchet, and Rainbow (with Ronnie James Dio)
Sandybell ❤you've got excellent taste in music! This is absolutely thee best electric guitar 🎸 Hard rock (The Black knight ) and, your spot on-- I was fortunate enough see Rainbow in Indianapolis the late 70's original line-- up because I was about 14yrs years old 😢Fortunately I did see Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio🙏👊 and Cozy Powell-and you're sad but true that today's heavy metal is a lot of fluff and pure nonsense 😢 However, there is still some fantastic news 📰! .Bob Dylan is still the greatest songwriter of all time and, Black 🖤 Sabbath, Cheep Trick still brings the house down-- caught up with them in KnoxvilleTn-- they were soooo unique and incredibly 📢 loud I actually couldn't hear a solid week 🎹🎶🎸!!!have your self a wonderful week God bless you ❤ and have yourself a rocking time
Reminds me of the time Peter Crouch was asked what he would've been if he hadn't been a Premier League footballer & England International ... to which he replied "a virgin"!
Blackmore was always challenging and pushing the envelope with Lord on solo's like Highway Star and this song how he and Gillian match each others "calls" .That competition on stage they performed was entertaining as hell. Much credit to those three dude's competitive spirit man.
I’m so glad I grew up during the early 70s. Best time ever. Lived through the development of what is now called Classic Rock. It was raw, loud and real. No effects, just guitars and amps on 11.
