I hope this finds you well A father lost and mother deaf The family that's kept me here Hard lesson learned, and I've learned it well How to lose everything How to push you away How to lie when I say "I never raised a hand to the ones I love." Now look at how You beg and pray For your god and his grace To keep you safe To save you from me My broken spirit and back My calloused, shaking hands The ache I carry in me My grief and skeletons The weight you carried inside A weight that held my bloodline Black out the sunlight I count these burdens as mine And still all you see is that bastard in me Been living in hell A father lost and mother deaf The family that I squandered here Hard lesson learned, and I forgot it all How to lose everything How to push you away How to lie when I say "I never raised a hand to the ones I love." But I remember how You begged and prayed For your god and his grace To keep you safe To save you from me My broken spirit and back My calloused, shaking hands The ache I carry in me My grief and skeletons The weight you carried inside A weight that held my bloodline Black out the sunlight I count these burdens as mine And still all I see is that bastard in me
Back when you could still make out the absolutely amazing vocals, in perfect harmony with the instruments. These were the golden times of Defeater and Melodic Hardcore in general. Mesmerizing ❤️❤️
i still dont see how they are part of the wave though. like touche, pianos and la dispute are one thing but this isnt really part of that same category from my point of view
Kacimbe Listen to their older stuff. I have personally seen all the bands you mentioned a few times and even had a band that played with defeater a couple times in northern cal. It's definitely a "wave" if you will, of music. Alot of people refer to it as post-hardcore. Many tentatively say modern "screamo" which isn't so far from the truth, although the definitions of screamo and emo have become skewed and jaded over the years.
okay so. you. you. are . not . in . on . it. this. is. post-hardcore. i understand what makes post hardcore post hardcore. "the wave"(labeled by others) is in reference to the group of bands i named because they are titled as revivalist posthardcore. touted they are bands that have a sound that reacknowledges the birth of posthardcore in the 80's they are bands that in a way pick up the instruments as if the only post hardcore they had listened to was oldschool fugazi, big black and all the other big names that are credited with having cemented what posthardcore meant during the 80's, regardless of how they build upon it. thats not true of this band. not saying its bad but at least this song doesnt have the aesthetic of that nature. also screamo is a perfectly fine label but its not really quite a label that bogs down anythign specific. if it has shouted vocals and was influenced by the big emo punk wave it's screamo.
Never heard of these guys till they toured with August burns red last year; along with: beartooth and blessthefall. One of the best shows I've been to.
I'll always love this band. I had a band that played with them in northern cali in like 2010. We played at this tiny coffee shop called Sue's Java. One of my favorite shows I've played/seen. Shoulder to shoulder crowd, great sound, great energy. Alot of comments on this video are negative and biased against the band. It kinda baffles me. This is definitely/hands down one of the best bands in hardcore/punk right now on multiple levels.
Seriously? 200K views? For this great genuine band? New metaphor of hardcode music, i'd like to categorized it as modern melodic hardcore, and here's the list of band who have the same kind genre : 1. Counterparts 2. Landscapes 3. Motives 4. Climates 5. More Than Life 6. Departures 7. Capsize 8. Hundredth 9. Empty Handed
Is this video based on a kids book about war? Our teacher in modern history showed it to us about these to guys in like fox holes that were at war and they snuck into each others fox holes at the same time and saw that the enemy had family and friends like they did and they caught each other and stopped fighting.
All of the albums tell the story of a veteran and his memories that terrorize him from war and the life he struggles to live after he comes home and the negative affects that he feels he is burdening his family with. Side effects of combat PTSD
What's the song , the lyrics are, Heaven is real when hells where you've escaped from. Things are going to get BETTER ! to be BETTER ! I've searched the lyrics and can't find the song...
