As requested we find ourselves in another Massive city siege. One of you guys had asked that we split the defenders up into low / medium / high quality troops and the results are awesome : )
That may be, but wouldnt be this crumbling empire still an empire? Are all those sick debuffs nescesarry? And wouldn't those years of siege made defenders more desperate to fight till the end?
Šimon Pinkas He wasn't really going for a balance here he was experimenting with some new setting to bring more variation to the channel instead of the same fights that he can win easily over and over again.
You should play on no escalation. Then the sides would be balanced. I mean you had low, medium, and elite tier units with low morale and destroyed walls while the attackers had more upgraded units
i've checked all your videos from the last few months. and these sieges and massive battles are definitely the most epic. just keep continuing these and you make me happy.
this gets better every time. What would be awesome to see is a tournament that applies the subcommander concept - i.e. teams competing throughout several games. Thanks for your vids!
Gabriel Sanchez I find that not bad at all. Too many YTubers post only their glorious victories. The problem with this battle is that the defenders were outnumbered 2 to 3, had the 2nd escalation maluses plus the shitty low tier units.
Wow, VERY nice cinematics in this one Oakly, just a joy to watch. Keep up the good work, I'm checking daily for uploads like this. In my opinion the best of it's kind on youtube, really showing of the epic side of Attila. :) No real suggestions about how the battles should be played, but I really like that you take your time to find those epic cinematic movements in the replay.
Very nice. Ravenna was surrounded by swamp for a very long time, actually. And it was so for a lot of the Emilian coast. I suggest also Mediolanum, Londinium and maybe the Sassanid capital?

Excellent fight, Oakley! I think for future reference it would be good to give the defenders a little more money so they can make up for the escalation 2 deficit in unit stats, but I love the idea of splitting troops the you do in sub-commanders. This is a nice twist on it, and I'd love to see another siege battle. Don't know why, but I'm feeling Ctesiphon on escalation 1.
THFE Productions Would you consider going back to Rome II to do a siege of Carthage with historically similar numbers. Thousands and thousands of crap levies with a few elite units against a relatively small but well armed roman force?
Yeah, Siege of Londinium would be great where Ebdanians, Picts and Caledonians would fight against Romans in order to retake their holy land. If you liked movie King Arthur you could make brave WR +some sarmatian units fighting overwhelming odds against Saxons!
I'm new to this channel so not sure if you've already done this, but I reckon a combined army/naval assault would be an impressive massive battle in my opinion.
If you have Viking Forefathers, you should do a siege of London with the garrison being WRE and the attackers being a coalition of Danes, Geats and Jutes.
Besieging Ctesiphon on Tier II escalation would be nice to see. Try to have the ERE team up with former client states of the Sassanids, finally exacting their revenge and burning the capital of their former masters to the ground!
For the next siege battle you could state a rule where the attackers can bring a lot of units but only low to mid tier units. This way the defenders can put up a bit more of a fight because of all the debuffs and you can continue playing in Escalation II.
if your going to do an epic siege where the invaders greatly outnumber the defenders, have the invaders have only melee troops. no archers would sorta even up the odds and make the defense pretty awesome.
awesome dude! When you're explaining strategy and what not, instead of pausing, i feel like slow mo would be an improvement. Give you time to explain what the hippy hap is without stopping the action!
That was awesome, what about one guy controlling cavalry, one managing archers and another using melee infantry. With a nice strategy and some historicaly accurate armies i can be epic
The graphical style of Attila is way too dark for my tastes. I get that they are trying to convey a general gloomy mood through the atmosphere of the game that reflects the time period in which it takes place, but I feel like they took it too far. Too many battles are set in overcast weather or almost at sunset, in the case of this battle. This makes the units, who are already somewhat bland in terms of distinctive look and color, even harder to differentiate. Rome 2 had a great graphical style (aside from some goofy facial expressions) with colorful units and it was easy to tell what each unit was without zooming in or mousing over the unit.
I think I'm a bit of a weirder case because I actually tend to like the cartoonish look of Rome 1. It definitely wasn't too good graphically, but every unit looked very distinct. And most importantly, so did the commanders-I might have to scroll down to see where the general was, but darn if I couldn't quickly tell who the big dogs were in a battle. Maybe I just like lighter tones. It's part of why I enjoy the Romans in Attila, because they've got some pretty distinctive shield patterns. Other than that, I haven't seen too much visual diversity in the northern factions.
could you do a slaughter defence where it's 2 army's of roman town militia like army's and 3 armies of elite troops, also seeing the Gallic forces swarming the city was probably the most awesome part, MOOOAAAR WAAAAAR
hey oakley as suggested below can u make a epic siege 3v3 with the 3rd defender player coming as reinforcents from the edge of map. the attackers should have a decent amount of time to finish off the defenders before the reinforcement army can move
I think there should be 1 unit for each faction that cannot rout. Do balance this the unit will be smaller, but I think it would be a cool addition. Or you could make it so the last 3 defending units in a siege cannot rout, because it always annoys me to see my men run when they are the last left in a siege of their own town, where there would be no point running if you were the last survivors
What's the difference in total war Rome II and total war Attila? I want to buy Rome Total war II but I then saw Attlia and want to know what I should buy
is it just me or is the shine a bit ridiculous. i mean these guys look like they just walked through a carwash, and this is a time where people didn't even have toilet paper. btw Great vid Oakley
we need an extreme battle like 160 Carth ships VS 160 Rom ships in a 4vs4 naval battle between you an Ai or another player . or a huge land battle 4vs4 with 40 units for every player I know its crazy but if you do that it will be the biggest battle on youtube for the moment.

It would be cool if two small armies are about to fight when they see a huge barbarian force heading in knowing that they would lose they gather all both their men and fight the barbs together
You should do a battle like this but with Constantinople. Maybe have four hordes against 3 legions. hordes get what they want. and medium legions and 1 elite legion
