Watching this reminded me of a very personal situation. I went to Florida for a visit with my daughter and grandkids, I was outside having a beverage and asked my son-in-law how his '95 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 was running, his response touched a nerve in my silly mind. He says " the transmission ain't workn, so I can't use the truck". I immediately hit the road and bought a high lift jack, jack stands, and a complete set of basic mechanics tools. When I got back to the house I told Chris to call his brother, the youngest and strongest one, to come over and help. We removed the driveshaft, transfer case and transmission. We took it to a friend of mine and completely rebuilt the transmission. 3 days later we reinstalled it and to this very day she still runs great.
Problem # 1 it's a Nissan. Problem # 2 dealer did that women wrong and never changed the oil and shipped it. Problem # 3 Engine is probably damaged and will grenade within months. It's really sad to hear when someone trusts the dealership to take care of them and they completely disrepect their customers. You heard her right? She paid over $200.00 for a complete oil change service and got what??? NOTHING!
@@robbie5138 No #1 means everything because NIssan's are a POS. I have a 30 + year old Toyota Corolla still on it's original MAF sensor. Keep buying Nissans cause they look kewl but i'm not the sucker who's buying replacement parts like candy.
@@klwthe3rdmy wife has a 1991 (uk registered) K10 Nissan Micra. I bought it for her 11 years ago. Other than perished engine mount rubbers and rear dampers? The car has never let her down once and has just turned over 110,000 miles. Might I add? Her car doesn’t even have a MAF sensor
@@snorb1tz That's because your Nissan is a 1991. Completely different world we are talking about with this Pathfinder. After the merger with Renault, Nissan quality has plumetted. You're trying to compare apples to oranges. Not going to happen.
A large majority of my business is fixing other shops screw ups... 😂 Going to start getting info on these businesses so I can go and leave a 1 star review and explain to future customers why they shouldn't use this shop. Just did a jeep where the shop was given the exhaust manifold to replace and all the shop did was loosen the exhaust manifold so they didn't have to do any work and sent it out... 😂 Jiffy lube told another friend it would be $2300 to fix the AC in his truck. Cost me $120 for a belt and pully kit and the AC worked again... Have a job in the next couple hours to fix brakes that someone couldn't do right.
I'm so sick of dealerships ripping people off hard-working people like they are and can't afford a bunch of extra costs, they need to be called out who that is.
Definitely gained a sub from me.. ain’t too reputable mechanics now a days! I’ve been in the trade for years learned from my father and my uncles. Went to school for automotive mechanics and engineering, I seriously dislike major dealerships and auto shops as the majority around where I live are all just scammers. Keep up the honest work brotha!
I worked at a dealership for 30 yrs Pontiac buick gmc in Cincinnati so many people come through the door as mechanics and have no integrity and you can't catch or babysit them all hrs of the day just be vigilant on what there doing and hopefully you can stop some of theses scamsters
If I had my car serviced at a dealership, and less than a month later I found out I had no/low fluids in every area they were supposed to top off, I wouldn't have been standing there for longer I would have taken it back and told them to swap me for a different vehicle immediately or take the shit back and I'll get something somewhere else. That's absolutely insane they did her like that.
Wow that sucks when I had my car. I always took it to the dealership because it was under warranty, but I had the same issues. Had my oil changed was driving to town. What do you know oil light comes on I’m a quart low and there were several other incidents like Lugnuts not tightened on my wheels repairs that were halfway done so I no longer trust the dealerships
I always pay my guy like 100$ under the table to come inspect with me and I always do private to avoid the 2000$ in fees and taxes and shit. My dad is a sales manager for a huge dealership and is only buy it if he personally showed me it and it was a good deal.
This is why cars suck in general. If you buy a used car you have to trust that maintenance was done CORRECTLY. There are ways to kinda tell, but you can't really open an engine to see if it has had regular and proper oil changes.
A good honest mechanic is everything! Do some research when selecting. I read reviews & ask around for recommendations. I look at the organization & cleanliness of a shop. Plus, the Customer Waiting areas. A shop that has good communication skills is mandatory. Price is important & I get an estimate. I always change my oil after 3000 miles. Despite, what the Owners Manual recommends. I have been very pleased with the Toyota/Lexus products. If maintained properly, 300K miles & more can be achieved. Sure, you pay more up front for a Lexus, Acura, Toyota, etc. But, in the long run, you come out ahead. However, all cars including Lexus, Acura, & Toyota are not created equal. Do your research (Consumer Reports, Edmunds, etc.). When you buy, ALWAYS insist on the car being examined by a reliable shop. It will be the best $200-250 you will ever spend.
I'm fully against dealership service. However if the oil hasn't been changed in 10's of thousands of miles and sludge builds up, a fresh oil change can look like that in a couple hundred miles . The engine has been majorly neglected on maintenance and the dealer shouldn't be the blame for it. I'm not even fully convinced she's telling the truth.
I'm not trying to plug them, but if I can wait a day or two for a part, I will always use RockAuto. Even overnighting the part can be cheaper than buying it from a dealer or a local parts store. I had a mass airflow sensor go out on my Malibu, and through Advanced Auto, they wanted $108 through Rock Auto with shipping. It was like $68, and that was an OEM part.
Straight up!!!!! Lady you need to go to mechanics school!!!!! You got it!!!!! Seriously!!!!! Guys can’t put the scenario together. Well done!!!! Well done!!!!
I watch your videos now bc sometimes in a bad deal you tell them don’t worry about it and walk away no charge. Exactly how I would do it and very few will! Great to witness
Just told a woman yesterday don’t take your car to the stealerships unless you absolutely have to!😂😂😂that’s insane that’s also not a 3 week old air filter
I bet she stormed down to the Nissan dealership and gave them $200 worth of abuse, I hope they sorted this, I hope she gotta new engine too, flaming crooks, great work Matt 👍
If a car is low on brake fluid, unless you find an active leak, its likely the vehicle needs brakes, when you recompress the calipers the fluid will go back up.
NEVER trust a dealership, NEVERRRRRR. I'm going to start placing hidden cameras on my friends vehicles that go to dealerships for services and send it to the local news stations if or when it shows them scamming customers.
The odds of this woman going to the dealership is slim to none. There is no way that car being low with multiple fluids had service at a dealership or even a regular mechanic. Something tells me she done zero maintenance to the car since she has owned it.
These part stores have given up and have been taxing people who need parts same day and they know it. You can def get that sensor for around $30 online, if you can wait a few days.
That ticking is usually due to not changing oil when due. Best to do it on VQ engines every 4,500 miles or less even the ones with the high pressure pump. Sad story is engines always end up being replaced.
110 for a MAF bro. People have got to do some basic googling at least. This lady has just been getting robbed left and right I feel for her. Should be 30 to 40 max in most cases. unless you're driving some high end car then maybe it gets higher but this is not that.
That sensor would have been either cheaper or a bit more but way better quality from the dealer. Those duralast parts are junk now. Orielys import direct used to be junk and duralast good. They completey switched places past 5 years
I just changed my MAF on my 08 Frontier and it was around $100. Intake air temp was reading -56 on the freeze frame data. Not possible even on a cold start here in sunny Florida. 😂
If she doesn’t have a leak on brake fluid with it being low probably needs brakes as well. I work in a shop and that’s the number one thing I look at after low brake fluid and every time pads are almost metal on metal.
Let's be honest. It's more likely that dealership visit and oil change was a year and a half ago and she's in denial (or just lying) than them literally doing nothing and charging her. Nobody likes to lie more than customers who neglect maintenance
Strange. Everyone I know just likes for their car to start when they're ready to go somewhere. I have never had anyone run down a mechanic or dealership in my hearing that did good work. Ever. I'm 44. I have personally replaced parts that dealers have lied to my family about changing. I have personally seen parts marked, heard dealers and mechanics claim and charge for buying new parts, only to find the marked parts still in place. So you might want to save your lies for women who don't have access to men. The people who watch this channel probably turn their own wrenches, aren't too good to get dirty, and just plain know better. Will people lie about vehicle maintenance? People lie about everything. But this woman was not lying.
I tell ppl dealers are possibly the worst place to take your car. They are of course worried of there warranty being voided but I tell them look how much they charge you over just a year in service the cost is just ridiculous bro , so I tell them is it really worth paying the extra cost or get it done by the right mechanic or if like me I work on my vehicles and also work on others to saves thousands on repairs and also there is great warranty companies out there outside the dealer as well
I cant see a dealer just straight not changing the oil when it was there for just an oil change this seems like blame game or it was 3 months and not 1. Could be wrong and if i am SHAME on that service manager writer technician shit even the porter who pulled it up. Again I hope she just overestimated her time since last appt or she took it on a long ass road trip and doesn’t understand mileage intervals are more indicative than time since the oil was changed. If you made it this far FULL SYNTHETIC FOR THE W ILL STILL CHANGE IT EVERY 3K WHY CAUSE I❤️🌎
yup we knew it but here’s proof. Avoid dealerships at all cost. Service your own car and be aware if it’s condition at all times. And take the manufacturer oil change interval and at the very least half it…
Dealerships! ...the worst. I found out the hard way w/ the local (only) Toyota dealership in town. Learn to do it yourself...or find a honest guy like Matthew Parker
I had a friend in high-school who's dad owned an auto dealership, they would hire Exconvict's, you know second chances an all that, problem is, most of those guy's haven't learned their lesson and with scam people just far kicks, they think it's funny to do bad things to people! Honest hard working people! A lot of the car sellsmen are convicts, dealerships like them cause they don't have a problem lying to people!🤨
My Mom fell for the radiator flush and hoses thing. When she arrived home the engine was heat pinging like mad. I took a look and all new hoses but....no coolant at all.
People should posting on social media the way the stealership treats them! Call them out, get names addresses name the dealership, service manager, everything you can think of!🤨👍
They owe her a new engine. The damage caused can't be undone lol. When you run low on dirty oil that damage is permanent, there is no fixing it lol, that engine will never last its lifetime.
Duralast be charging sometimes especially if she went to autozone or some shit lol. And that’s a somewhat newer Nissan so $100 sounds accurate for a aftermarket sensor. oem is even worse
Oem is worth it in my opinion I feel like parts stores put life time warranties on their in house products because they know you will be bringing it back once it fails
@@klwthe3rdI have never been to a oil change place. Whether it's my truck or my car makes little difference. Even if it is more expensive to do it myself I have no choice, I NEED my cars to survive, I can't just take a risk on someone not doing the job properly. I have no choice but to do it myself. You can get car ramps from Walmart for $50, mobil 1 oil is usually $25 at walmart for 5qts, mobil 1 filter for $10-15. You might need a filter french maybe $5-$10, and a wrench for for the drain plug which could be like $1-$10 depending on which specific tool you use, (wrench vs ratchet and socket, new vs used, etc), and maybe throw in $3 of funnels for cleaner pouring. So if you have a truck lets say you use 2 5qt jugs that's $50+$50 ramps+$15 oil filter+ $15 tools +$3 funnels. That's $133 on initial, and $65 on subsequent oil changes. Or $103 for a car with only 1 5qt jug, and $35 for subsequent oil changes (usually car filters are $10, and trucks are closer to $15). I can do my oil in 10-15 minutes, 30 minutes if I take my time and have to set everything up. You can do oil in a parking lot if you have to with ramps. Just find an unassuming spot, throw down your ramps, drive up, do your oil quick, get in, get out.
@@klwthe3rd 335i 08 bmw. Its maybe 50-80 when I do it myself using 0w-40 mobil 1. Liquid moly costs a bit more though like $60 for 5 quarts and I need 6.9 I think it was.
Nissian, what would you expect? They're kinda ghetto there & dont really take care of their customers cars. A tech should've notified her about the sludge in oil unless he wasnt paying attention & just walked off after removing the drain plug, but the fluids low is no excuse. They should've caught that for a $200 oil change! Do my own oil change for $25 & about 35mins of my time cause I gotta use ramps.
