Finally! FINALLY!!! A reviewer who understands a complex transformation doesnt = bad. I love my Crimson Wings. And I cringe at how bad some reviewers make the transformation out to be. Thank you for being honest and concise about the figure. And actually taking your time with it. It really is about time lol. Completely agree with you about the MP version. I wish I'd never spent a dime on it.
All g. Yeah I do notice people seem to either equate complex with bad or complex with good. Any style of transformation can be good or bad: just depends on the execution.
Holy shit! After watching you for a while now, I’ve just realized that I used to obsess over your micro builds on mocpages every day when I got home from school. You were a damn hero to me. Thanks, drlockdown.
@@DrLockdown I literally spent hundreds of hours looking at your micro transformers when I was younger. The few that I was able to build for myself were literally my favorite toys growing up. You have no clue how much you influenced my childhood. I have been having an incredibly nostalgic day going back to look at the things you made
The wing rotation thing is a good point. My default for the siege seekers is to sweep the wings back and up because it looks better than having them flat against the back in my opinion
I don't think this transformation is that bad, once you know the Order of Operations that is. Before I knew it I hated it my self because you can get SCREWED by doing stuff out of order, and it scratched up the sides something fierce, but it's actually decent now that I know how it works. Now the TE OP Leader, that's a process I hate. What the hell. My ab crunch is INSANELY tight, to the point where the first time I tried to use it I questioned if there was a button I had to pus to unlock it.
I absolutely understand that Thundercracker & Skywarp are repaints of Screamer but having Thundercracker in hand, he's pretty good...I totally prefer Crimson Wings over MP 52+ & it's not about price because the KO's are cheaper than CW...I prefer the height over MP 52 & the look reminds me more of G1...I don't remember him being that dark at all...if they do Coneheads I'm going down the rabbit hole for sure...great video by the way!!!
This figure is really cool, that transformation is awesome. Also, a few of the others figures in the review caught my eye: Eva Prime, Masterpiece Loudpedal, and Kingdom Waspinator. I have Waspinator, and I freaking love him. The other two I WISH I owned, because of how pretty they are, but it isn’t likely to happen. I just thought those figures deserved a special mention for being epic.
Went for this over MP52 KOs just because I prefer the size and aesthetic. I needed to upgrade from the original MP3 based seekers and I’m keeping those for the alt mode.
Honestly I’m just waiting for Thundercracker. MPs for me are for characters I like a lot, such as with Soundwave, and with Thundercracker being my favorite seeker he fits that bill for me. Because let’s all be honest MP Seeker Trilogies are expansive as hell.
I came back here after seeing Jobbys video. Seeing how people handle the transformation is really intersting. I would want to know if he did something wrong so you did it so intuitively by comparsion?
Man I really liked you took the time to tell me people to wait and not buy things just for the sake of it, or in protest, also to think things through and make an educated decision, thanks mate!
I'm considering getting this figure, I'm just not sure if I'll get the order of operations right from robot to jet mode 😬 I don't want to scratch anything
I bought Crimson Wings and I love it!!! And I chose it because I could never afford MP-52, and I’ve seen reviews of both figures, and Crimson Wings won the debate for me.
Extra hip joint may serve a similar purpose as on nicee, IE really high kicks Figure looks good but IDK will probably just track down seige screamer for now.
The DS Starscream is in my opinion is the best MP Starscream out in the market. I say that for the following reasons. TArget of MP is displayability, an both bot and alt mode are flawless! In this case the sacrifice to make it look great was sacrificing simplicity of engineering. An as someone that doesn't mind complex transformations I love the figures. Sucks we wont ever get coneheads now using this mold. As the official coneheads look like very dated crap. :(
"Mp 52 if for vheicle accurate people. And ds01 is for cartoon accurate people." OBJECTION ive handled the mp52 and id take ds01 , a figure ive bever owned, for vheicle mode accuracy over that thing. Also ds01 has a really accurate jet mode. Im currently in the af and ive seen many f-15's on my base, he is practically a carbon coby excluding the rudder and thruster I think i said it on someone elses video but the thing i look for in an mp seeker vheicle mode is a flat underside regardless of kibble, and the only mp seekers that have done this are mp11, mp03, howling meteor, and this figure. If it has a triangurlar shape towards the thrusters, then it is cartoon accurate which immediatley makes it uncanny for me.
Mp52 is officially licensed by Boeing, so there are minute discrepancies. You and I probably don't care, since neither of us are that crazy for it, but I know people who bought mp52 just for the jet mode. I do get it though: I'm personally going nuts over the Raiden train modes
From what I can see… his transformation can be a comparison to ROTF Leader Optimus Prime: A complex puzzle Plus, Starscream is one of my favorite characters! I love the Studio Series Bumblebee movie figure
I admit, I actually did buy a figure or two out of... not necessarily spite, but rather the inability to pay for the official versions. The figures I bought being MMC D-Zef Continuum and Planet X Kadmos.
This is is basically the question I keep asking myself. I didn't just get TR Arcee in protest to ER Arcee or the fact that, at the time, Legends Arcee was out of reach, and I was never that much of a fan of the original design anyway. As I came to find out, I got her coz she's a fun toy. Fun to pose, fun to roll around, and fun to transform. Same reason behind my choice to spend $80 to import a fully upgraded Legends Ultra Magnus from Singapore, and, where we disagree on, my choice to get T30 Rhinox over the Kingdom one. For actual characters whose figures I risk buying out of protest (POTP Elita, ER Starscream, some others), I put them on my bottom priority, and clear everything else higher on the list before I deign to get them. With Legacy Elita revealed tomorrow, as of this writing, if I find myself disappointed because she doesn't quite do it for me, I'm not sure I should get POTP Elita either just to, as the people in your discord call it, "cope".
I'm glad people like this, but me personally, I still like the mp 3.0 more for a few reason. I like the accessories and don't mind foe-forming, and I like transforming my figures, and this figure's transformation suuuuuuuuuucks
Hey, I found this figure on amazon but there's two different version. RONGXI and ZHIERPIUS. Is there a difference in quality between the two? Which one should I choose if one's better that is?
easily in my top 5 favorite figures ever, top 5 favorite transformations ever. it's a near perfect figure, the paint issues are my only gripe and that can be mostlyyyy solved by letting it cure for a while
I probably will get this but only thundercracker I can live without screamer or skywarp and since I am relatively new to this community this will be my 2nd transformers figure ever, what's my first? Masterpiece soundwave what can I say man he's a good toy. Now why on God's green earth would I want this thing considering that for my 2nd ever transformers figure I probably going to want to burn my eyes out with gasoline when I transform this thing? Idk man he looks cool, sue me also this will probably be very useful for preparing a simpleton such as myself for cancerous transformations in the future that is a fact not a statement.
How the hell are you the only one i found that knows how to transform crimson wings the easy way like everyone else keeps fighting the toy more than u have.
4:07 ‘Almost as if they copied it from existing images’ that’s ummm… a screenshot from the video game Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. A great game that I personally rather enjoy. Just found that a bit funny.
23:29 now this has got me curious. I haven’t heard a happy review about this thing and had officially driven the last nail into the coffin containing my will to buy this thing. Can you get me to pry it back open Doc?
But does it get smoother than MP11/MP03? Those didn't seem that smooth. And Deformation Space, Transform Element, AND Black Mamba (and by extension, Aoyi Mech) are all KuBianBao!? No wonder I ain't heard from them in forever. But...KuBianBao had previously done KOs of the MP11 mold for Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp...why go through all the hubbub just to be a third-party (and still have a sidepiece brand that does KOs)?
For jet mode I have an original mold Wal-Mart Masterpiece Starscream and Skywarp. The jet modes on those are fantastic. Robot modes, not so much. I have a DS-01 that is in robot mode that will never be transformed. DS scales well next to my chromed out Masterpiece Megatron. Like to see a larger Shockwave, but as long as everyone looks like insects to be squashed by my Gigapower dinobots I'm good.
Trust me, no one wants to get mp52 because of the jet mode, the jet mode sucks. Same with this thing. I have no time for a Starscream that doesn't care about the side profile of the jet, and that transformation is horrendous imho. I'm just going to stick with Meteor.
there are so many reasons i bought crimson rather then mp-52(one of which was price) such as its actually accurately scaled (the top of starscreams head should be at the base of megatron's neck/shoulder height mp52 is too short so for all of you saying crimson is out of scale nope going off of mp36 crimson is within scale and mp soundwave is out of scale and this is going off of the scale provided on tfwiki and off of official scale charts) the better looking paint (the matte does a great job of making him look like a cartoon) the better jet mode oh and the articulation......specifically now he doesn't have weird thumbs (seriously hastak figure out how to do thumbs) oh and his cockpit isn't fake seriously there was no need for it to be fake on mp52 BOTH COCKPITS END UP IN THE SAME SPOT
Thing is, you can make arguments either way. I'd say it's actually MP-36 that's too tall compared to 13, 29, 52 etc (and the IT KO release is even taller). The others are all pretty much where they should be within half a head, which is kinda within acceptable tolerances (for me at least). Megs just breaks that. DS is also above the shoulder line, so it's too tall going by the scale chart even if we consider Megs to be correct. There appear to be two camps with this character. One that remembers him being taller and so prefers the DS mould, and one that's happy he's pretty close (like a quarter of a head) to being in scale with MP-36, and closer to 13 and 29. Neither mould is totally accurate, so it's about getting the one that best satisfies your aesthetic preferences. Taller and more traditionally proportioned as opposed to shorter with heroic proportions. Stuff like paint is also entirely subjective. The official releases also have a matte finish and look very toon (ironically a lot of people's issue with them). I can imagine that scale is really hard to realise in a 3D transforming toy vs 2D animation (and they couldn't even get that right most of the time), so I'm more forgiving when it's marginal. It gets even more complicated when you start mixing and matching official and 3P. I actually really like the 52 mould overall. The thumbs are rubbish though.
@@MentasmUK except you can't use mp-13 soundwave as an example he wasn't going for cartoon accuracy whereas mp36 is so you have to base it off of mp36 which is what both DS crimson did and robot paradise did
@@thedrifter5531 I mean, I can use it to illustrate scale being a total nightmare, which was the point of the post. If cartoon accuracy is the benchmark then why not MP-29? That's most definitely a toon inspired design (and isn't actually all that much shorter than MP-13). It also scales much better with MP-52 than it does with MP-36 and predates them both, so why does MP-36 get to be the standard? You mention RP-01, which is obviously even taller than MP-13 and correspondingly taller than 29/52, but is also slightly too tall to scale with both DS-01 and MP-36 if one is being totally slavish to the Sunbow chart (and ironically MP-13 is probably a closer match). Whichever you figure you pick to be the 'correct' standard for scale, you're gonna end up with other figures appearing to be 'incorrect'. As I said, total nightmare. I've given up expecting things to precisely conform to the Sunbow chart; I'm just happy if stuff is in the ballpark of up to half a head. People have different priorities and/or remember things differently, which is why it's good to have options. Starscream was drawn much shorter and darker in the earlier episodes of the series, which is a closer match to MP-52, whereas he got taller and lighter as it went on, as with DS-01. For the record I actually agree about MP-52. It's a little bit short for my tastes, and quarter/half a head taller would have been great, but that would have further removed it from MP-29. I prefer MP-52's overall design though, so I based my choice on that, not just the height (which neither company gets completely right). I'm actually intrigued to see what Takara does with its eventual Soundwave V2.0. Will they scale it with MP-29 as per the Sunbow chart, or make it taller to closer match MP-36? Perhaps they'll split the difference? I can't say, but I'm sure it'll add more fuel to the scale debate fire either way!
@@MentasmUK actually mp 36 ds crimson and RP acoustic are all in scale Starscream head should be shoulder height with Megatron and soundwave is half a head shorter then Megatron the chart is a bit confusing because they aren't facing towards the reader by via basing it off the middle of each model the mp figures are way out of scale with mp36 and shockwave is meant to be shorter then soundwave around the same height as screamer I don't own the figure but from what I can see from images he is a tad bit too short
@@thedrifter5531 again, the point of my post want really to debate specific characters/figures, but since you mention it that's not entirely accurate. Going by the chart, Shockwave and Soundwave are the same height. The Seekers' air intakes should be roughly level with the tops of those guy's heads. The heads of the Seekers should be roughly in line with Meg's shoulders (not above it like DS or below like Takara). Soundwave's head should be just under Meg's eyes, but Acoustic Wave is a bit taller than that and considerably taller than MP-29, which whom he should be level. According to the scale chart Megs and Prime are the same height, but MP-36 is taller than MP-44. The Ironhide/Ratchet mould is also too tall. MP-22 anyone? So on, and so on... As I said, these are toys and expecting them to conform precisely to the 2D animation models is just a recipe for disappointment (I say this from my own experience). This is why I've tried to make peace with things being slightly out, like the half a head I mentioned. If DS-01 is me appealing to someone than MP-52, great, but I don't see it as any more accurate than Takara. It's just different.
Im sorry...DS' transformation is horrid. I dont like MP52, but I feel he's better than DS version in almost every way. Both jet modes dont do it for me. Great REVIEW!!
@@DrLockdown i Was talking about you, i have him since 2019, but still im gonna Support all of UT, only hope is that they dont g1ifie Armada starscream
They're one of the weakest joints you can do on transformers. Nine times out of ten, they break down over time and eventually become useless. If you go back to a lot of G1 toys, many copies these days end up sagging under their own weight.
@@floofer6699 if you look at the sunbow model, MP52 is way closer, aside from the face. I prefer the way that crimson wings looks, but they've definitely made some decisions about what to keep and what to change (for the better, I'd say)
People will hate me for this but even with this figure, I still prefer mp11. It has the actual chest transformation and I dig that mechanical aesthetic to bits.
