I have watched you from the start Del and it just gets better. A couple of things at 6.53 that transition was awesome with the disk - doing this myself I know how much it takes to plan that and to slip it in like that making it flow -well done. Secondly I love how you now proactively head off the haters, explaining about showing tools for others to benefit rather than people thinking its always for some other ulterior motive - love it and love seeing your kit as I didn’t know about that sort of adapter. Brill mate thanks so much. Keep up the great work. Jules. 👍

Hi Jules, how nice to hear from you mate! And I just checked your channel as you said you make videos yourself, and oh my goodness, subbed right away... ! We love getting out and about, we live in beautiful Dorset, and enjoy the countryside as much as we can, we love adventuring, but not always on the bikes, it's so much more fun when you can pull up, drag the cooker out and make dinner al fresco!... thank you for your kind feedback mate, I'll be checking out the videos, stay in touch, Del & Pennyx

What you said there at the end about making new bracket is what I did on my GSR600. Unfortunately bolt snapped on me when trying to take it off. Fortunately there was a spare threaded hole about an inch or 2 beside it, unused. So instead of drilling the bolt out I utilised free hole and made a new bracket from 3mm x 20mm strip. Bent it to fit angle at the engine, twisted it in the middle 90° to fit the rad mount - job done.

That's a great kit, very rare to have budget and quality tools. Great tip with the template and the cutting too, safety first, nice one Del. It's lovely to weld stuff but I never got round to investing in a welder when I had money to spare in the past. That tweak you did on the bracket is great but if I was to do that I'd have to use JB weld or something similar, would have taken a day instead of a minute =P I love that quote at the end, really resonates.

That looks identical to an oil cooler I fitted to my XJ900F. Interesting video, always enlightening to watch someone who knows their stuff. One thing I might suggest, if you haven't already thought of it - it's (presumably) unlikely the two coolers are identical capacity, so it might be worth comparing them now *before* you flog the old one. I forgot on mine, and oil changes have been a bit 'by guess and by God' ever since! Best regards, Jim

Sweet wrench set! I got to find that in SAE! Your fabricating points are spot on! You and i think alike, We de-burr the stock before de-burring the part! Unlike most folks. I just wish i had your welding skill. My best welding tool is a grinder. Nice Job!
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 5 лет назад
Thank you Sir, you're too kind... but I cannot take any compliments on welding, I'm little more than a practiced amatuer myself, 10yrs of bodging and snotting bits of metal together, you develop a little bit of skill, but it's not technical skill, I never learned in the proper way on a course, I never have the time, but one thing I can say, is that a good quality machine makes it a whole lot easier!

Sure thing mate, it's the boring bit of metalwork class at school, principles of template working, there are other things like if you're making multiple parts the same size, don't use one part as a template for the next part, otherwise it'll grow! Always use the template....!! But I've always believed practice is the best teacher, we tend not to make the same mistake twice aye?!
@loddude5706
@loddude5706 5 лет назад
Hi, rate those ratchet adapters, simple enough for 'quality' makes to be good value too. Also, one good thing about rat bikes, after a couple of beers, that bright blue cooler can easily be explained away as a 'fat lip from a traffic cone . . . completely shredded it, the poor thing didn't stand a chance . . . made the bars twitch . . . is it your round?'.

Seeing this new oil cooler is a bit wider then stock and now with bracket on bottom, make sure the side fairings L & R which wrap around the cooler can still meet one another on the bottom. Ya dont wanna do all that work only to find it wont fit inside the fairings by fairings not meeting one another on the bottom. Oh or perhaps you have no intention to put plastic on, if so comment superfluous. Cheers.

Hi Del, great video once again mate, you mentioned the problem with old steel bolts into aluminium, the dreaded white rust, ive just bought an 02 plate Triumph America that i`ll be tinkering on and servicing in the next few months, once a bolt has been removed, assuming i can get them out in one piece, and you reassemble, what would product would you recommend to use to stop those bolts seizing up in the future please?. thanks.
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 5 лет назад
Hi Glen, generally myself I use copper anti-seize compound, and it works every time, if you want to be a little anal about it and a bit posh, you can invest in some Allueaze, which it like copperslip only for aluminium instead... either way, they both work, and it will stop them seizing in place in future... just one word to the wise if you're setting your bolts in place with a torque wrench, then drop a little off the torque setting as the anti-seize will help them slide in easier, so they won't need so much force.
