There is NOTHING better than helping a client's dreams come true!
75 years ago, Chuck Lester's dad was on the B-17 Miss Bea Haven as it flew in World War II. Present day, his son wants to commemorate him by buying a Diamond DA40 and painting it to look like the one his dad flew on! Come along for the ride as LifeStyle Aviation pilot Sam Linton delivers a DA40 XLT with a custom commemorative stripe scheme to our wonderful client.
__________
This airplane is dedicated to the memory of the crew of "MISS BEA HAVIN" B-17G 43-37901 of the 837th bomb squadron, 487th bomb group US Army Air Force, stationed in Lavenham UK. Airplane delivered 6/30/44 to Lavenham. Flew 34 successful missions over enemy territory. Scrapped Kingman Arizona 1/6/46.
The unit began to focus on strategic targets until March 1945. It attacked oil refineries in Merseburg, Mannheim and Dulmen; factories in Nuremberg, Hanover and Berlin; and marshalling yards in Köln, Münster, Hamm and Neumunster.
The squadron was diverted from the strategic bombing campaign to support ground troops during the Battle of the Bulge from December 1944 to January 1945. It also flew interdiction missions during the Allied crossings of the Rhine and final thrust across Germany. It flew its last combat mission on 21 April 1945.
The squadron remained in England after V-E Day. The air echelon began to fly their B-17s back to the United States in the last week of July, while the rest of the unit returned to the United States on the RMS Queen Elizabeth in August. It reassembled at Drew Field, Florida in September and was inactivated there on 7 November 1945.
_________
Whether you are a new aviator looking for the perfect first airplane or an experienced IFR pilot with discerning tastes, the DA40, available either with a jet fuel or an AVGAS engine, is the smart choice. The durable composite airframe, ultra-low fuel burn and superb handling make the DA40 a great airplane for travel, leaseback, and training alike.
The DA40 XLT boasts a durable and aerodynamically efficient composite airframe and is powered by the bulletproof IO360 Lycoming engine. With a modern all-composite airframe, proven Lycoming IO360 piston engine and the industry leading Garmin G1000NXi, the DA40 XLT combines a blend of modern airframe and avionics with the venerable Lycoming IO360 - arguably the most reliable AVGAS engine of all time.
Diamond’s industry-leading safety record is the result of our commitment to protecting you and your passengers with a long list of active and passive safety features. Active safety features help to avoid accidents in the first place, the first and most important line of defense. Passive safety features are designed to minimize the probability and degree of injury, just in case the unexpected happens. The DA40 offers the ultimate in handling, stability and control, ease of operation plus structural and system redundancies, all coupled with a high degree of crashworthiness.

Keep’em coming. It’s helpful that you give insights on the flight like airspeeds, air conditioning etc. I’am in Mexico and considering a Da-40 and C-182 for my mission.

I’m hoping to get my PPL when I become 15 and the flight school I’m going to says on a minimum requirements it will cost around £9,000 I would love to know if this a decent price for a PPL and I would love to know that if I did have the money would it be better to buy or rent.

That price sounds about right. But I don’t think you can become a pilot at 15, pretty sure you need to be 17

@@mateoreyes7415 Sorta. In the US you can train at any age, but need to be 16 to solo. Testing the ground portion doesn't make sense until you are 15, because the results are only good for two years, and as you noted - you need to be 17 for the final private pilot's cert. My daughter has flown several times, and she will start more intensive training this Fall after she is 15. Her goal is solo on her 16th birthday, and PPL before college. I'm getting my PPL just so she can practice with me, to stay current.
