good drivers are clued in to mirrors, truck sounds, gravel amounts,,setting the tailgate with the right opening,, truck speed,, it's all planned out before he was loaded.. trained pro,, self taught ..love it..
I have a 1981 GMC dumb truck about the size of yours....It's a standard shift...the gate is Manuel and the dump levels are the same. I'm having a hard time controlling how much comes out etc.....any pointers would be helpful. Loved the video!
Great tail-gate tutorial. It's definitely unusual for bigger trucks to use automatic transmissions, however, only Allison makes those industrial strength slush boxes and Allison is top notch. I know you were skeptical at first but the proof is there now. An automatic transmission is, in my opinion, much better suited for industrial work anyway due to its natural hydraulic coupling and they all employ a stator in the torque converter to multiply torque needed for getting the heavy vehicle moving from a standstill. Manual trans rely on granny gears and split gearing to overcome that issue while every auto tranny has a natural ability to get a heavy truck moving smoothly from a standstill. The options on that Ford are perfect. You didn't even know it at first, but you bought one of the best little dump trucks available when u got that thing.
Andrew...you are preaching to the choir....I have been telling customers for years about using larger stone (1.5") first before using 'cruster run' they cannot vision the dust is not what they need....could go on about many stories about rebuilding or improving their driveway...love your videos from TN driveways
I sure wished you were available to do a gravel and multiple culvert job on our driveway in northern Tennessee! Keep up the good work and quality videos. Tim
When I started driving dump truck, my boss insisted we spread stone forward and back...we had small tandem trucks. When I went into my own business, I spread hundreds of driveways in NY state. Thanks to my training......you are very good at spreading with your trucks...
Good job Andrew...I enjoy watching your videos. Your work ethic, your hustle, and willingness not to be defeated by any project is why we follow and appreciate your channel. Keep up the good work and have a Merry Christmas.
Yes Andrew is awesome. So many tools and skills. How on earth did you learn to do all these different things. Great video editing. I notice your subscribe count has gone up another 2,000 since I first watched a video about a week ago. Keep going strong buddy.
This is great info! I’m gonna try some #3 stone. I used #57 last time and most of it just got pushed down into the mud. I don’t have to worry about snow plows in Georgia, but it has rained a lot in the last year. It’s raining now.
That's an ideal customer! She knows maintenance is important and costly. She doesn't mind walking the driveway and accepts your consulting. 👍 nice accent and a beautiful dog too! 🥂🍑🐕
Ya know, I had a little Yanmar tractor, bucket, blade, 4wd, diesel. I bought it fairly cheap when renovating our house and yard, 3/4 acre. I loved that tractor, then inexplicably I sold it. I still feel sick about it. Anyway, thnx Andrew for the chance to live again vicariously through you and your top notch work.
jamesnm21 I suppose I could but, hard to justify the expense just for plowing the snow on my driveway half a dozen times a year. I already get the stink eye from the missus enough as it is.
@@nicksrestos8505 ah poop. Well, there's always Craigslist too if you wanted to do a few jobs like Andrew does. Or even rent it out, though you have to be careful about that.
jamesnm21 I’m good mate, not enough hours in the day. My chair, a pint of Guinness at the end of a long workday watching Andrew and his equipment ballet is good for me. His time lapse segments remind of a Ray Harryhausen movie.
@@nicksrestos8505 he puts a lot of work into them for sure. I can see where he's probably got the filming part down so that he's not wasting much time setting up the shots. Knows where to put the camera and when as he's working, etc. But then he has to edit everything.
Great job Andrew! It's a little of a challenge to tailgate rock around a corner like that but you made it look easy ! I really enjoy watching your videos.
Thank you for sharing your amazing video, I highly appreciate your video editing, it’s a very high quality. I have watched more of your videos several times and your videos don’t get boring because you change your angle you are shooting. So thank for your great efforts, God bless you and your family
andrew watching your videos here on youtube its like going back to when i used to go to work with my father since he drove a dumptruck but his was a 99 international with the dt466e motor in it with 5 speed manual man i still remember the first time i ask him to show me how to work the pto and pretty much got hooked on that til i started working the electric tarp. Luckily i just use the passenger side mirror and from the cb radio going it was hard not to fall asleep. Man every morning about 6:45 am i was glad when the motor cranked over cause i didnt want to go back in and grab the keys to a older ford f700 gas motor dt with no radio /hvac. heck the dumptruck had everything manual including the windows.
That truck is a beast. That gravel has much bigger rock than what I put on this past spring. Mine in 3/4 to 1inch. Got a little snow so far and I plowed once. I hope it holds up. Happy Holidays brother. I had to start another channel. My old one was messed up. Ugh
watching Andrew do his work is like watching poetry in motion although it wouldn't be work to me because it always looks too fun, great to see Levi back on the job. Thank you Andrew!
Great video brotha....question for ya...why wouldn't you build your base with "crush run" type rock? Instead of larger stone? I find that if I am scraping and resurfacing my driveway (gravel 1200 feet ish) I find that if I have a larger stone I'll not get a smooth finished product for the drive...now for farm roads!! yes big stone works great...what are your thoughts ??
Yes, that is best. Here it isn't needed because there is bed rock just under the mud. If you are in a very muddy area, start with road fabric, than put stone down in layers, starting with biggest stone.
Ok now that was some pretty darn good dump truck operations there Andrew to do it smoothly and cut the corner on costs by not needing other equipment for spreading and leveling.
Another satisfied customer. Good job Andrew. I thought you might hit that tree with the raised dumper. Looked very close but you handled it well. Hope she has you take that tree down. Thanks for the video.
That blue/gray gravel is really nice looking stuff. We have a whole bunch of quarries around here and they all produce different rock. The one right here in town has a very light almost white stone which looks fairly nice. There's one about 30 minutes away though that has beautiful gray rock similar to this and its the cleanest stuff with very little fine pieces in it.
Running gravel with my international single axle was a great gig.No labour, quick drops, and paid well. Now Im going to a hooklift, with all the different bodies.1 truck does it all.If your ford has that 6.6 Brazilian diesel,or the 5.9 cummins, you got a tough and dependable rig.
My four year old grandson Sam, loves Andrew and mimics his videos in his play with his electric tractor with a bucket... “OK let’s get started is always his opening line”!
I know 8t if we're not careful the Democrat will end the country or should I say socialist the old school democrats that worked for the the country are few and far between
@@jwhitley101whitleyfarms9 Im not sure there are any left . All i ever seem to hear is they want to tax you for this or take away your right to continue doing that . Sad times we are living in right now .
Looking good bro.Tailgating that stone is the cats ass.Your right about the crusher run with stone dust.I used to use it now i only use 1 and 2 or 3 gravel.
I'm always watching your videos from Puerto Rico.i have been driving international truck the older ones but my biceps are killing me for the poor power steering.i see you ford it has good power steering.gracias por el video desde Puerto Rico.
May I take this opportunity to wish you and your's a Merry Christmas and a Guid New Year from Scotland. We love watching your videos and long may it last. Slàinte (Your good health) x
I thought you put way too much gravel on that bend, looking closer....I was wrong....again! I am over 4,000 miles from you in the UK and yes I need glasses......So forgive me for thinking that. Nice looking customer from what I seen of her. hope she gives you more work in the future.
great vidio again. merry christmas to all 4 and 2 leggers. how about a vid on the stone quarry. i have a few around here and they are huge and neat. 1 million soon.
Never realized watching gravel being spread, could be so enjoyable! Curious Andrew, where was your furthest job west of your place. Have you done jobs up in the mountains themselves? I realize you’ve done jobs on the slopes where your castle is. I agree with your assessment of using item four sub-base. I’m switching to straight gravel with my next resurfacing.
Andrew, enjoyed the video. Have watched your videos for several months . The castle is slick. was wondering how close it is to your dad's house. Again , really enjoy your videos. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
I took a middle of the road approach to graveling my parents long driveway, I used that #3 then a layer of 5/8 (what ever number that is for you) then stone dust on top. The stone dust washes down between the bigger rocks when it rains then hardens like a rock. Snowplow won't touch it unless the operator doesn't know what he is doing and you rarely get potholes and if you do they are very small.
