A food delivery driver who bit off a customer's thumb has pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm.
Jenniffer Rocha attacked Stephen Jenkinson in December 2022 after an argument over a delivery code. Stephen has been left with life changing injuries and unable to work since the attack, and is now seeking compensation.

A women who was fearing for her life! I don't believe this man at all! His story doesn't make sense! If, he lost a piece of his finger, it is because the girl was too scared to let it go! He must had been very rude and aggressive! He must have been hungry and furious, and been verbally abusive and aggressive. Hope he learnt a lesson! Treat women respectfully.

When you work for Deliveroo you don't actually meet with or speak with anyone at Deliveroo at any point, when you pick up food at restaurants they don't check the worker is the right person

Look at P&O and what they did a while back-sacked their staff for cheaper EU workers. There was talk of prosecution-never happened. they got away with it ...

Deliveroo are 100 % responsible for this, the system is broken, using subcontracters to avoid all kind of expenses and accountability. He should get at least 2 million compensation for this. Time to boycott all delivery apps.

So while the account holder may have had a criminal record check and will have been checked to see if they can legally work in the country, they can share their account with someone who is a criminal or who might not be allowed to work in the UK. It's how a lot of "modern slavery" victims are exploited.

Personally, he sounded rude when he said give me the food and I’ll get you the code. That’s not how it works. You do the work then get paid You pay for products on Amazon and then they ship it You give delivery person the code, and then they give you the food and it’s like this so people can’t steal someone else’s food because only person that ordered it, would have the code. I personally think he got stroppy with her because she wouldn’t give him the food, let him walk 50 meters up the road, as he put it, to get the code and tried to forcefully take it from her and she ended up biting him in self defence. I partly believe this because on this LIVE interview, he first says he went outside up the road to meet her and she “INSTANTLY started swinging” his exact words. The he got asked, “what happened to make her do this” Then he changes his story and says that he asked her for the food and he will get her the code and then she attacked him. I smell something fishy.

Deliveroo is the worst! This guy's life is changed forever so her life should be changed forever and she should go to prison. He could have been more polite to her. But that doesn't mean she should have bit off his thumb. She has serious issues! Raised like a beast I imagine. Crazy story. I don't use Deliveroo at all, ever! his story isnt adding up obviously if she bit off his thumb she needs to be held accountable but his version is he saw her asked for the food first before the pin and instead of her just saying sorry i need the pin first for confirmation she swung at him instead i would understand a fight breaking out if she had kept repeating to him she cant just hand over the food and he wasn't listening and if that is the case he's not explained it properly

People argue and are rude to each other every day but in a normal society people don’t bite someone’s thumb off. I did fully read and understand your comment and didn’t think you were questioning her guilt you were questioning her motive for the level of her violence and my point was if he physically attacked her first or there was any way she could claim self defence or even provocation defence she would have, so what was said verbally or whether or not he grabbed the pizza is irrelevant as in a court of law or a in normal functioning society it’s not justified to use physical violence because of a verbal dispute. Also I think it’s naive of you to think there isn’t people out there that lash out with extreme violence with little to no provocation.

She should go to jail definitely for biting his thumb off and causing a lot of stress and him having to stay at home for 6 months and it all affecting his job. Also he knew that he needed to give the code first before receiving the food but he said "I don't have the code. Give me the food and I will get you the code." I would have made sure I got the code first or ask her to come to the address so that I can get the code." By asking for the food first it possibly caused things to escalate. It doesn't justify her biting his thumb off and she should go to jail.

My mate lost his thumb at work by putting his hand in an industrial ceiling fan, he had to fish it out from the vent along with his tendon(which had stretched to about 6 inches long🤢) and was back at work four days later, bedbound for 4 n a half months, and he hasnt been able to work since?🤨 dont act silly my bro, grow up🤣 n also i refuse to believe this person just started swinging out of the blue and she somehow got a hold of his thumb, i feel he's not telling the whole story, he seems like one of them professional victim types imo

I don’t buy his version of events, he’s missing big chunks! Why would his hand accidentally go right inside her visor? I think this was deliberate on his part, she may have panicked when his thumb went right into her mouth and bit down on it in self defence. The ownly critisiscm I can give is the not having the code part. How is she able to know you are the actual person. So she asked for a code. No, give me the food first, and I will go and get it. Pin* He was wrong for this, no driver with a brain cell will hand that food over without a PIN. There could be more to this, if he forced it off her she's within her rights to self defence. Obviously she was more out of order for her reaction (if he wasn't being forceful), but yeah.

I don’t know why but I feel like he must have acted violently towards her because why is his hand pushing her face. I think there’s more to it. Delivery drivers don’t just bite off thumbs for a code. I think he must have also been involved in the fight. It’s GBH agreed but I feel there was also a self defence element. He approached her in a street and we don’t know what time of day it was…I think it was dark and she was scared

Don’t want to sound unsympathetic but I do have to agree, there is definitely more to this than what he is saying. His narrative was totally different on GB news interview, where he said she just walked up and started throwing punches for no reason, he never mentioned he didn’t have the code for his order. It’s just not adding up.

Kinda the reason they have a code. “Give me the food” is where you crossed the line. Likely on defense because couldn’t find delivery site. If you were close enough to get hit you were in her personal space. Likely more to story

I don't believe this man! His story doesn't make sense! If, he lost a piece of his finger, it is because the girl was too scared to let it go! He must had been very rude and aggressive toward her! He must have been hungry and furious, and been verbally abusive and aggressive. Hope he learnt a lesson! He mention now "her EXPARTNER" most probably he must have been ABUSIVE toward his partner too! Treat women respectfully!

We do have police checks when signing up man- just the account sharing thing, is why they can call us "self employed" really, its the only thing stopping us from getting atleast the minimum wage on shift. Deliveroo will fight this to the bitter end because it will cost them everything if they lose. sad

@@firojakasam9129 we had a situation that someone had lost a finger and it was put on ice and when the paramedic arrived they said the ice so close to the nerve ends destroy these from being viable to reattach to the hand. And that was exactly what happened when the lady got to the hospital.
