Thank you, my friend! I have just replaced a broken fan on my Dell Inspiron 5567. I would never have had the confidence without your excellent video. Thank you for saving me the £60 my local repair guy asked.
1. This computer, and maybe others as well, requires different screw bit sizes. I happened to have bought a computer tool kit some time ago and found that it contained the necessary bits to do this. The kit also had plastic pry bars so I would not be using a metal pry bar which can potentially contact circuitry on the components. I bought the kit on Amazon for about $30(US). 2. Also, it is very important as soon as you remove the cover to disconnect the battery so there will not be any power available to the circuits. 3. Also, be sure, when doing this job, that the air where you live is not too dry and static which can cause a spark (static electricity) between your hand and the computer components. These components use very minute voltages and the circuits can be easily damaged. Most of us don't live in East India which is a humid climate. The kit I bought did have a grounding strap I used between my wrist and the metal frame of the computer while I was working on it.
Thanks, that saved my day. The air outlet at the fan was covered with a thick layer of dust, fan always on high and noisy. After cleaning it is now quiet and the temp lower.
At 5:33 the ribbon cable (or whatever you call it) is pulled out and at 5:48 when you come back, the cable has been plugged back in. This is a little tricky to plug back in because the parts are so tiny. On my model there was one screw that I could unscrew from the motherboard, and I figured out that there is a little cover that clamps down over the tip of the ribbon cable that you have to flip down, position the cable in place, then flip it back up. Also it's hard to see, you can only see it from the side. But after a couple tries I got it to clamp in. Anyway, thanks, I could not have done it without your video.
Well I did this video long time ago. I did fount about this cable the hard way. I just lift the board a little bit and just plug the cable with a tweezers.
I have the same laptop and often times the fan just gets really loud. It sounds like a grinding noise. Is it possible to take off the fan piece without having to take off the heat sink?
hello sir. Great tutorial. i have the same laptop, but it came with the version of 2GB VRAM. Can i upgrade the GraphicCard with the version of 4GB.. it will work or it will not be recognized ? Both versions of the laptop has the dedicated GraphicCard of AMD Radeon R7 M445 GDDR5 VRAM Thank you.
How do you attach the small cable again at 5:45 which is under the fan the white one with the green scripts on it I tried to rewind and see when you put it back in place but can't see you doing it and I can't seem to find myself how to do it any help :) ? Great video tho thumbs up !
I did pause the video, while cleaning the fan. The longer and safest way is to remove the board screws and the hinge and lift the board. This way it is very easy to plug it back. I did use a tweezers and plug it the way the board is. It is more risky so i advice you to lift the board a little bit... not the hole one.
@@cagrbozkurt400 the laptop is not mine, and i already give it to the customer. The safest way is just to remove the board and to flip it up side down. It is held by few screws ...
Fixing the white ribbon underneath the fan is the most annoying thing I have ever experienced in this world. If only you had mentioned to hold on to the ribbon rather than taking it out of the motherboard I wouldn't have to go through all this pain of fixing it back in. The laptop won't even turn on now. Will update after I try and remove the motherboard and pry the ribbon back in its slot
Update: (2hrs later) I FIXED IT! I had to disassemble the entire laptop. After removing all the Motherboards cables I was finally able to take it out of the laptop casing. I then attached the white ribbon (which actually is used to turn on the power button of the laptop) inside its slot underneath the motherboard. You really need to remove each and every single cable and wire to get the motherboard out btw. Horrible laptop design to be honest. But I'm happy I was able to get the job done.
Hello thank you for this guide but i pulled the fan accidentally and i ripped the wire for the power button off now it wont start what do i do? Is it possible to connect it back or i must give it to service?
Strangely, I saw a video saying this fan noise is a software issue. But, I've put a new fan in mine and it no longer makes a noise. It was $10. on Amazon.
Hey dunno if you still reply. Just wondering, can the tube part of the heatsink be detached from the fan? bcs the ones that are sold only sell the fan, so idk if i have fo connect it back a certain way
Yes, you can separate them, but first you have to lift the cooler. After that you have to remove the type on the bottom side, and the fan can be separated.
I found that I had to unscrew and raise up the board where this cable connects in order to properly reinstall it. It's pretty much impossible to do so otherwise. If I had seen that it was glued to the underside of the fan housing when I was lifting it off, I could possibly have held the cable down with a plastic pry tool while lifting the fan off and I wouldn't have had to take the board loose to reattach it. Don't know if I would have been able to pry it successfully this way, but would like to have been able to at least try anyway.
Bro. Can you tell me exactly which tool did you use to remove the M 2x2 screw over the Optical Drive. I tried a lot of screwdrivers but couldn't find the right one. Thanks in advance!!!
In order not to change the tip of my screwdriver i use a smaller one from phone repair kit. They sold them when you buy a battery or something else. These screws are a bit tricky.. You have to push a bit harder before twisting..
Did you lift the board. Thw power cable go under the dvd and under the board. Probably you unplug it by accident. Sometimes the cooler is glued to the place where the cabel goes. Only way is to remove tge screws on the board, lift it a bit a plug back the cable.
Same thing happened to me man. The power cable is the glued underneath the fan right? Its like a band. Where do I plug that, I could not understamd. Could you help me pls?
How much thermal paste should I buy for this? I can't really tell the capacity of that syringe you used in the video... I reaaaally don't want to get at it and find out I don't have enough. I´d love to just buy a 20gr syringe and be done with it for a good while but tbh I can't afford that rn :/
20gr is way much. I use big syringe coz I use it everyday. You can just put a small drop like been and just use your finger to make it even. It has to be a thin layer at the end.
I have Dell Inspiron 15 i5 8th Gen 8GB for the last 2.5 years but now it makes such a LOUD noise if I open more than 2 tabs on chrome. It even heats up a lot. Should I go for fan cleaning and thermal replacement as well?
I had to do this same thing on an older Dell I had a few years ago; I'll explain in this text why I did it). I learned a lot from that experience. The reason I went looking for a video on how to remove the computer cover from this newer model (5567) was because the cooling fan in mine suddenly started making a loud noise. For a day or so prior to the fan making noise, I noticed the fan was running on a high speed and the fan exhaust area (on the back of the computer where the screen meets the base) was very warm. I'm going to share a few observations here I experienced when I did mine. The absolute first thing I did when I removed the back cover was to unplug the battery to remove the possibility of powering any of the circuits; it's easy to accidentally hit the power button when flipping the computer over to disassemble it. I removed the fan assembly carefully while holding down on the ribbon cable that passes underneath the fan housing with a plastic (not metal) pry bar. This eliminates having to remove and reinstall the board in order to reconnect this (power) cable (if you're not sure you were able to keep this cable held in place, remove the board by removing it's screws and unplug and replug the cable). I cleaned the fan blades with a fine bristle brush. Possibly the computer was not assembled with the proper amount of paste to keep the processor operating cool enough (I had an older Dell computer a few years ago where the person assembling it had applied way too much paste and it never did run cool). Don't overuse this paste - use an amount similar to what this youtuber did in the video. If you use too much paste, the heat will not leave the CPU area quickly enough (the heat will migrate into the surrounding areas). Also, don't press down on the heat sink when replacing it onto the CPU. You will notice the screws that hold the CPU in place are spring-loaded. These spring loaded screws will automatically apply the correct amount of pressure. Just guide the heat sink into place over the CPU and install the screws while gently keeping the CPU in place. Cleaning the fan blades and replacing the paste on the CPU (my model doesn't also have the GPU because it's not a gaming computer and doesn't have a GPU) seems to have solved the problem. It's now running coolly and quietly. I don't think these cooling fans are intended to run all the time the computer is running, just when the CPU and/or GPU get(s) hot. The temperature in these components tell the cooling fan when to run, and the fan cycles on and off as necessary.
sorry to bother you but I should get the fan replaced or cleaned? The guy at the store said that the fan isn't working and needs to be replaced but I am feeling a bit sceptical about it. Would love prompt advice TIA
How did the guy in the store find out that the fan is not working. It is possible the fan to go bad, but it is very rare. Usually with a little machine oil it runs smoothly. But if he test it and it douse nit spin at all, than you need to replace it.
somewhat helpful video. but would be better if you zoomed in more. you didn’t show getting the power button cable back in, and now i have to take the whole motherboard out.
Yep, note taken... It is 3y old video. I try to show more now. You need to remove the screws on the left side. Just lift the board a little and you can plug it with a tweezers. I haven't got the same model since than, to make ver. 2.0 of the video.
I have the same laptop. It goes to sleep automatically when I press the power button it again gets on. Also charging port is loose. It's very hard to connect charging at some point. What could be the issue?
Is the battery working fine. I had a lot of cases with similar problems. In most of them it was a bad battery. Try disconnecting it and test without it. About the charger, probably it is damaged and you need to replace it.
@@LaptopDisassembly Battery is not in good health so the sleep issue relates to this. I already bought a charging jack but have no time to visit the shop to get it installed and also do a battery replacement. -_-
My laptop creates a hissing noise and it freezes for couple of seconds and gets back to normal. Also the back part of laptop gets hot. What should i do?
It is normal for the back cover to get hot. You can clean it and replace the thermal paste. About the freezing... check the hard drive with crystalDisk for bad sectors.
Hello I did the same you shown but my laptop is not getting start only the power switch is not showing light in it. Wile charging its showing the charging light but laptop is not getting on pls help me what to do now.
Probably, when you lift the cooler, you disconnect the power button cable. Now you have to lift the board and connect it. It is the thin white cable that is going under the fan.
My dell inspiron 5567 fan not working sometimes and laptop stuck on application like phhotoshop and becomes very hot i am having core i 5 7th gen 8gb ram with 256gb ssd what can i do ? Plz help
There is an easy way and a hard way. The easy way is to remove the screws on the board and to flip it up side down. Thw hard way is to remove the screws on the left side and just to lift the board a little bit. Than using tweezers to plug back the cable.
Well apparently something went not according to video. Douse the laptop power on, any picture... Try reseating the ram memory... More info will be helpful
Probably when you lift the cooler you did unplug the power button cable. Check the cable. If that is the case you need to lift the board a little and just plug the cable back.
I exactly have the problem with the power button cable, how to lift the board? can you tell me, please? or can you recommend a video about this problem?
@@monica-mi5lx You have to remove the srews on the board. After that just lift the left side of the board. It is a regular connector on the end of the board. Just plug the cable back and close the mechanism.
Hello, I've tried just about everything... I replaced the fan&Heatsink in a Dell 17-5767 Now the Fan is running wide open all the time... error message saying fan not responding correctly...In the bios the the fan isn't showing the RPM's...Any ideals? I've tried about everything...unplugged battery for 30 sec held power button for 30 second's...unplugged the small 2032 battery for 10 mins... Did the thermal paste over..unplugged the fan and plugged back up...reset the laptop...tried a old bios firmware...tried my old fan which still works,BUT IT ALSO runs at highest rpms now... Trying to think of everything I've tried...Did the new fan do some kind of hardware change???? Any way gonna order another fan and try that,I guess Thanks
Have you try with the latest bios from the dell site. If that douse not help, there may be a problem with the thermal sensor. It is telling the laptop that the it is hot and it needs to be cooled. Also did you try different windows. I had cases with bad OS with same behavior.
@@LaptopDisassembly Hey Buddy ...The fan plug on the motherboard had a prong/pin for the blue wire broke,And luckily,I was able to solder the blue wire to the broke prong/pin....Doesn't look the best,But got it working...Thanks for trying to help..Take Care
I was like that first time i reinstall my windwos 98. Followed a tutorial, i wrote format c: .. after that they says, now insert windows 98 installation media... and i was like... crap...
I know, i know... It was one of my first videos. The connector is at the end of the left side. Just remove the board screws, lift it a little and plug it back. It is not that hard.

Well you can try to check for viruses is r make a fresh install. Also check in task manager to see what is slowing the computer... Check the hard drive and CPU section.
