Thanks for the great video! It really helps to have someone point out all the screw locations. I found that I did not need to do as much disassembly as this video shows, to change out a hinge. If you take out the screws on the side of the display with the broken hinge and take out the hinge screws (on the left, one hinge screw will be underneath wiring that can be gently pushed over) you can slide the old hinge out and the new hinge in. That means you do not need to separate the display from the base or disconnect any of the wiring between the display and the base. Another tip: I gathered several jar lids and used one to hold the screws from each step of the disassembly. I like that better than having one pile of screws when I put it back together. Thanks again.
This gave me so much anxiety, lol, every time you said “remove the screws”. I just know I would have to immediately bag and label the screws after each step so I know exactly which screws are what and don’t lose any. Outside of my anxiety, great and informative video!
Following your instructions I did the job on an E5430, thank you. I wonder why for a simple hinge it is necessary to remove dozens of screws. Real design necessity or a way to discourage amateur repairers?
WOW! a TON of screws! lol I made the plunge and replaced the hinges on this lap top actually lol NO EXTRA PARTS YEA! I didnt tear it down as far as the video showed all wires and antenna were left alone I did have to unhook keyboard to remove palmrest plus all the screw holes on my inspiron were labeled where they went and the size good video! Thank you..
