I did this with an OptiPlex 7040 small form factor. I had to modify the case since none of the holes lined up. Basically what I did was: placed label stickers on the case were the motherboard rest at, Placed the motherboard on top of the stickers, Drew with a pen the locations where the holes would be, removed the motherboard and drilled four holes. Everything worked like a charm with a few tips from your video as well. Thank you!

Nice video but on the long run does The adapter from 24 to 8 pin won't effect the performance ? i mean is it safe to use adapter 24 to 8 pin ?

I did a build with a Lenovo Thinkcentre M73 Mid Tower with an i5 4570 4 core CPU with 4 RAM slots and I had 2 old computers with 8 GB each and blam, 16 GB DDR3 and then I put in a GTX 1060 6GB cause these Lenovos can only use 700, 900 and 1000 series GPU's bt Nvidia, Radeons do NOT work. Lenovo Thinkcentre i5 4570 + proprietary motherboard This case a 80MM fan to 120MM fan adapter for the heatsink (yesss this works and it works good, well, for me it does, individual experiences may vary lol) so it has a better fan and some addressable RGB GTX 1060 6GB 16GB of DDR3 1600Mhz 550W PowerSpec PSU + $5 USD adapter for 24 pin PSU to 14 pin PSU PC came with a 500GB HDD Ordered a 20 dollar 120GB SSD for Windows to go on I bought a 6 pack of ARGB 120mm fans with one on the heatsink and the other 5 inside the case for better airflow and aesthetics 10/10 solid as hell for a $370 PC

I really want to swap my case but this sound a bit too complicated would love a easy pc case swap without having to modify anything

Never mind i just built a pc with a i5-4570s, The motherboard is a asrock motherboard thats lga 1150socket with 16gb of ddr3 ram with a r9 285 graphics card thats 2gb of vram.

Good morning, afternoon or night buddy, I'm thinking about doing the same transformation to a 7020 that I have at home. Would you recommend I try to get adapters for the power and audio jumpers or would it be more prudent to make modifications to my case? thanks you from post this video, it's very usefull! If you are doing a 7020 Sff case swap. You can use two hdd jumpers (2.0mm shunt jumpers) to avoid boot errors. You connect your PW SW cable to pin 1 and 2 - then use a hdd jumper to short out pins 3 and 4. PC will now boot without error using the new cases power button. Ignore the single pin (pin 5). The USB 3.0 accepts the normal usb 3.0 from the new case. Unplug the USB 2.0. It uses a normal layout. But the gap is smaller 2.0 mm rather than 2.54 mm which is the default. You can get an adapter from Ali Express for $3.50 + postage. But just unplug and you will be fine. There are 6 or so USB ports on the rear of the motherboard. The 'Front Audio'. Use another hdd jumper to short out pins 7 and 8. You can see from the standard cable that these wires are thicker than the others. This is the sense cable. It will now boot without errors. You can now remove the SFF's front panel with all the OEM wiring Metal and black plastic with the USB and front audio plugs.

Would fully recommend doing this with the HP ones (with the 6th gen CPUs) as they don't have proprietary PSU connectors and have normal front panel connectors. Got mine for £75 on eBay

I know this is old and you probably already know but if you want to use the power switch that comes with the case if you plug the power sw cord into the bottom two pins of the power switch socket

You could buy a pocaton male to female 5 pin adapter to 4pin for Fans that has 4 pins, or CPU cooler also that has 4pins but motherboard has 5pins that's where the Pocaton Cable adapter comes in handy

I have done this and managed to get the power button working by joining wires and soldering, now i get 4 error messages when booting, all works fine but cant get rid of the error messages on bios!

You can actually buy dell 5pin to 4 Pin PWM adapters on Amazon, you dont need to keep the old Fans. no Error will Pop up at boot. the Jumper Method works for SFF Motherboards too, you have to Plug in the old Front Connector cable though. cut off the cable by Half and put some Eletricial Tape at the end. Put the Jumper on the last 2 Pins and Power button Connector on 2nd Row First Pin from the Top.

Should i do this? I got a Dell T1700 SFF with Xeon E3-1225 v3 @3.2GHz, 4 ram slots 2 8gb, 255w psu, 1TB SSD. I was just planning on buying a GTX 1650 low profile but i wanna see if i can move it to a bigger case for more fans and bigger wattage
