You have the same exact model as me, I just bought a new 8giv stick but given what the bios says the dim slots can only handle 2gigs per slot. Basically I just wasted money on new ram
Most likely you can just add a 4GB memory stick and it will add up to 8 GB total. Before buying please verify the system specs of your computer to be sure the max RAM it supports, and also open the Optiplex to verify the available open Memory bays /slots to use. This video walks through all these steps, and please review video description. If I can help with answering any Q, please ask.
Hello, can you help me with finding out what ram can I use for my *optiplex 330* and what's the max ram memory that I can install on it ? Please I need to play minecraft lag free please
On CNET.com the optiplex 330 is listed to show max 4 GB ram. How much do you now have currently installed. Here: www.cnet.com/products/dell-optiplex-330-energy-smart-desktop-computer-intel-pentium-dual-core-e2220-2-4ghz-ddr2-sdram-512mb-160gb/ Please find your computer specs through the process I show in this video, or use 'system information' command. To find compatible RAM, clink on the RAM link I have listed in the description of this video and see if it is also compatible with your computer , or search on Amazon for the exact type you need.
Remove the newly installed memory and see if this fixes the issue. Double-check whether the newly installed memory is compatible with the model number of your computer. If it is, reinstall memory in alternating memory banks, i.e., 1 old memory bank then 1 new, then old , then new. Let me know if this resolves the issue. Thanks
Start with simple things. 1) Full power off and restart. 2) Use Msconfig command to review all 'Startup' programs - applications that start when computer powers up and change setting to not have unnecessary programs running in back ground 3) clear cache of your browsers 4) clear temporary files folders 5) run a good antivirus / anti-malware program to be sure no hidden programs are running 6) in browsers use anti tracking plugins like Ghostery etc. I hope this helps. If you get a chance let me know the outcome. Thanks
@@FlyBeee u obviously know more than me . So I installed 16 Gb of ram I had 8 and I didn’t feel the difference honestly . So I was reading that I have to turn on xmp to get full pontential. I will do what u advised me as we’ll
@@Cool-vp1wh so sorry looks like I misunderstood your original question. If you installed 16GB RAM in a computer that is spec'd at 8 GB max RAM then in most cases the extra GB of memory won't help the computer. There are some ways to overclock computers to perform at higher capacity vs what they are designed to function at. However, if you are dealing with a computer that is slow to start and operate then try the few points i mentioned earlier. Also, if the computer has Hard Drive then look into upgrading to SSD which is faster to access and makes any computer faster. If you get a chance, please let me know the outcome - if it helped improve the computer performance. Thanks!
Use the 'system information' command to find the max RAM your make/model of computer is configured for. If 8GB is max RAM your computer can utilize but 16GB is installed then the extra RAM wouldn't help. But there are other things you can do to make sure your computer runs at its max potential with just 8 GB, notably 1) use Msconfig command and then review its 'start up' and 'services' tab to be sure extra programs / applications are not slowing your computer. 2) Upgrade to SSD (if applicable), 3) clear cache and temporary files, 4) run a good antivirus program 5) use anti-tracking plugins like 'ghostery'. I hope this helps.
@@FlyBeee figured out the ram was bad luckily it was a 6x4gb kit i had so i had 2 extras. no my hardware is rated for 16gb at 1600 mhz but i installed 4/4 slots now but the mhz is dumbed down to 1333mhz might have to go back to the old ram.
It should work fine, and would work faster due to design. Many computers are compatible to use a mix of single/dual/quad rank memory configuration. If you are buying from amazon or best buy please use the compatibility tool to double-check it will fit the computer you have.
I factory reset my pc and now it gets stuck in a restart loop and it won’t do anything besides that and my mouse stopped working, I pulled out the memory sticks and cleaned them and stuck them back in and now my monitor won’t turn on when I turn on my pc. I have no idea what the deal is. If anyone can help it would be Greatly appreciated
@@FlyBeee my mouse is wired and it’s a dell opliplex 780 it’s pretty old I think from 2010 i bought it refurbished and it says it has windows 10 pro on the tag. I got it from my grandmother and it worked but I didn’t know her password so I factory reset it. I even bought a windows 10 recovery and install disk and Changed the boot sequence to dvd rom first and still it doesn’t boot up it just goes to blue screen that says inaccessible boot. Before I did that it kept going to a black screen that says media failure check cable. I figured out the memory stick problems I just didn’t put them back in right.
Hyper X ram is just awesome! I have personally not used it in Optiplex 780 but technically it should work and would help to overclock the system performance. If you decide to use Hyper X ram please let me know the results. Thanks
Technically DDR3L should work, it is a more capable dual voltage RAM while the DDR3 is single voltage RAM. Your DDR3L would run on just one of the two voltages it can run. Please also check manufacturer specs for your computer to be sure whether it specifically requires just one type. Best of luck.
Yea, you are right about the missed opportunity on speed gain. The 2 x 4gb memory bank option was pricey so I went with the cheapest option for the optiplex, lol. Thanks for pointing out this option so others can take into consideration. Best wishes!
