Today, using this video on another computer as a guide, I managed to replace my laptop battery with you guiding my hand along the way. I used to use my wife’s business tech, but as his home business grew, so did his prices, so he fell out of my price range; hence, I thought it might be time to try a simple repair on my own. Because your video was clear, slow and concise as to the procedure, the operation on my laptop was a total success. Moreover, as this was my first time breaking into any computer, it was extremely helpful that you called out the precise tool and head size used for each screw and maneuver. I had to write to you to thank you for your thoughtful, accurate and self help video on how to replace the battery on my specific laptop. Fred 😊

This is a very nice vid on how to replace the battery. The only thing that holds me back from doing it - apart from the fact that I haven't got a replacement laptop - is that the crucial part : disconnecting the battery is not really shown, although this is quite important. Reading the other comments, I learn that this is not so easy. It would be nice to elaborate a bit more on that part. For the rest, nice vid !

Excellent well paced and informative. video. My XPS 13 battery dies very suddenly on battery power at around 90 minutes, even though its often showing about 50% battery life left just before it goes into limp mode and dies. I'm assuming that the battery could do with replacing as when I first got it it was comfortably doing 2 to 3 hours. I'm using it for sports photography outdoors.

Great video, especially the tips on opening the back using a sliding motion with your pry tools. I found that when I started at the top right side, once that corner popped open, I wedged a pry tool in to keep it open, then I used a second pry tool to slide down the side. You do need a good bit of force as the clips hold way tight. It will make pops like things are breaking, but its the clips disengaging. As for the battery plug, look at your replacement battery's plug - it has two "ears" at the end where the wires insert into the plug. Gently using a pry tool on the old battery plug, push back towards the battery at each of these ears, alternating side to side, and the plug should slide out of the housing towards the battery. There is a small tab on the top side of the plug, which must engage when the plug is seated in the plug slot. You must overcome the friction this tab creates when pushing the ears to remove the plug. Replacement went smoothly thanks to your video. I hoist a pint of Best in your honor!

Overall very helpful but the battery cable is very difficult to unplug and we can't see his technique to remove it so quickly. Unplugging the battery is the worst part, I thought I was home free after I was able to lift off the bottom cover...but nope. I had the won't boot issue these notebooks seem to have and the "easy" way didn't work so had to open and re-seat the batteries. Worked like a charm except for having to spend an hour trying to wriggle out the battery plug because I didn't want to push down too hard or pull too hard and didn't want to pull on cables (never a good idea) but found another guy who had a close up of that, and I could tell at that point that either yours would be easy, or you'd need a lot of patience and just not get frustrated. If you bear with it, eventually you'll get it, so take a break come back, stay calm. The rest is a breeze. Putting notebook back together took 5 minutes or less and computer is just fine now - but I'll say be very patient when you reboot. It'll go through a series of reboots and finally will flass 3 orange lights and 1 clear (slightly blue) light and then you'll reset your BIOS clock. I took a run through all my settings and they looked good. Then it booted up. I restarted just to see, no problems and then I shut it down and restarted. All good. Before this happened, battery fully charged, after the fix, I was still at 97%, battery is in excellent health, so last thing I'll do is plug it in and restart. So it was a series of simple procedures, but some could be long and painstaking. Overall, a very successful surgery! I picked this video because he was very detailed in showing how to remove the cover after you take the screws out - that was nerve racking as well since you don't want to hurt anything inside. His tip for doing the back first is what worked for me as well, thanks!

As others have said, excellent as it just gets to the point, explains 'details' like getting the back off (especially first time around) can be tricky (it is!). The only tip I learnt was there are two 'suitable' screw holes for the little Philips battery retaining screw. The one in the centre is for the screw in the middle of the back (under the XPS flap) ... you need the one on the right (where it came from!) ... don't confuse them! And I went for a Duracell battery. 'Only' about £80 instead of £125 for the Dell-badged battery, but (I hope) a reputable brand as opposed to a cheap Chinese battery that might do nasty things! I hope that logic proves to be correct 😬

Extremely useful video. I was all worried about the cover but it popped right off. The biggest trick was the battery connection where I was afraid I’d do some damage, so the additional comments regarding that were most helpful. Does the fan run smoothly or constantly rev up/down? A customer had one a while ago which constantly span up and down and gave a fan failure warning - I replaced the fan which was a fairly simple process, but issue persisted and tracked it to a mainboard issue. AX200 is also WiFi 6, the AX210 is its replacement so if you can find one I'd put that in.

In the video you mentioned the battery cost £75, but the link in the description of this video leads to battery costing almost £150. What should be the correct price? I can not even find this battery on Dell website.

When I bought it, it was £75 on Amazon, but prices fluctuate a bit and I only recommend the genuine ones. I bought mine through my EetGroup trade account, currently £54 ex. VAT on there.

One of the flat screws to hold the battery in place has been stripped. I ve tried some of the recommended methods available, nothing seems to work now. Should I get WD40 and the extractor drill bits as last resort? Any other easier way?

@@georgie179 yep had to find my own way around it! The old battery was to be disposed of anyway. Cut through the plastic bit around the screw and then used a small plier. 😐

Seriously! It would have been significantly appreciated had you focused on actually replacing the battery and When it was important For things like which size screwdriver to use to release the main Screws You may be included that instead of focusing so much on here is the fan and how about if you wanna clean this part and oh look there is this over here.

Laptop I worked on didn't have a SIM card. Not sure why you'd need to replace it on models with WWAN though?

Nice video! Now we just have to wait for Dell to know that putting 1 single 2mm screw is Design this laptop with generative design software and this 1 different screw is the first thing that is left out of the parts. Whatever reason was found to do this ... makes no sense
