@ThinkView - Very good and informative review! Thanks a lot for the information about the new carbon fiber having an extra layer on top of it (since 2020). Yours is the first XPS 2023 (9530) review which noted this about the carbon fiber palm rest / deck, so thanks! I just bought this XPS 15 9530 i7-13700H Arc A370M (I do not game on my PCs) Non-OLED to compare to a Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 OLED laptop that I may return. One concern I had with the new 2023 9530 XPS 15, based on past experience with a 2017 XPS 13, is the degradation of the carbon fiber / palm rest area over time. So it seems, based on what you noted at 08:30, that the new deck / palm rest area finish should last (a lot?) longer before deteriorating. I like the Dell's battery life (even though mine brand new came with 84Wh capacity for some reason!): Despite that, I should get over 10 hours at 50% brightness for YT playback (set to 720p) - I was at 4 hours 46 minutes elapsed and still had 59% remaining.

do you still own the Dell XPS 15 now? I'm planning to get the same spec for programming needs and I need a good battery life too :D, could you please share your long term review

Hello, Thank you for your insightful videos that go beyond what we usually see on youtube laptop reviews. I'm currently on the market to upgrade from my xps13 9380 with an i5-8250U, 8gb ram with no dedicated gpu. I'm a student in machine learning/deep learning and my current laptop struggles when running heavy IDEs and a web browser at the same time, even more with Teams and Spotify running in the background. I sometimes do gaming (from TF2 to Cyberpunk2077), but it's certainly not my priority. I strongly hesitate between the xps15 and the zephyrus g14. The configurations with 32gb of ram, 1tb of ssd, an rtx4060 with either a Ryzen9 7940HS for the g14 or an i7 13700H for the xps 15 are priced at 2200€ for the g14 and 2 578€ for the xps15, while the zephyrus has a 165hz QHD+ display. Comparing these data, my current choice leans toward the g14 but as a current xps user I'm worried about getting out of my "comfort zone", if it makes sense. What's your opinion on that ? Am I missing something in my analysis ? Thank you for your time.

I think you should go for the xps 15. I was in the same situation in which i had to use my laptop for machine learning or Software dev. I chose the xps 15 of the two because of the portability and overall built. If i buy something so expensive, id appreciate if it lasted a long time and that its not some heavy, hot, plasticky laptop. Honestly I think you should go out and check both of them out in hand and see how you feel about them. Thats a deal breaker i think.

Asus ZenBook Pro 14x (6404) has taken over it's place as the best Windows laptop. - 120 FPS - OLED display - 1080p web camera - Intel i7 13th gen H series laptop - Nvidia RTX 4060 dedicated GPU. - Costs $1800 USD for 16GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD.

Some Reviewers actually say it is HP Spectre that is the best Windows Laptop right now. However I would not remove XPS 16 inch new one. Asus was my prior pc, vivobook but no matter, looked and felt great and after a very amall hit pn a desk, it only fell 7 cms horizontally on the desk the screen broke and was 2.5 years old. That is laughable ruggedness compared to 2 Dell Inspirons, ans one Acer Aspire I had which would get 100 times the hits and never broke or at least not before 5 years of multiple hits not 1.5 years in when it was the most well kept. Asus build wise does not compare to dell.

@@innosanto The XPS 16 is nice. I just cannot support the electronic F keys. FYI... I made this statement before the 2024 HP Spectre x360 and Dell XPS 16 were officially released. Basically, the best of 2023. Those 2 seem to be the candidates for the best of 2024. Add on Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i.

Thank you for the review. I was thinking about getting the base spec 13700 and Intel Arc graphics exactly as shown in your video, but disable turbo boost in power management to keep the temps down. How badly do u think this will affect performance?

I bought one mainly for music recording . The worse thing about it is that you do not have enough ports and you need to use adapters which is stupid. I have stuff that is not USB C and I use an Ethernet port so I've got the included HDMI USB adapter plus another adapter I bought for Ethernet and older USB stuff attached and in the way. I stiil have a working XPS 15 from over 10 years ago with the ports I need and I wish this one had plus a DVD writer.

Heyy, i was thinking of buying this same laptop, im not into recording with instruments, i mainly use Fl STUDIO, i need a capable laptop to run the DAW and all kinds of plugins from synths to mixing plugins, i know that i need a good Processor and at least 32Gb of ram, would you give me some advice?
@thirty2able

@@robertmorales9170 With 16Gb of Ram and the processor I have in my Lenovo Legion which is a 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H 2.30 GHz , I am able to run Reaper , Ableton , Ozone 11 mastering plug in, Sample Tank3 ,T Racks, my Behringer UMC audio interface and I have my Yamaha motif synth attached to the audio interface. You are right in going with 32 gigs ram though cause if you are going to run a lot of plugins at the same time, you will need it.I don't do that. I usually proceed one step at a time from starting in my Motif sequencer with a song and then recording it into Reaper, doing my vocals in Ableton Then taking that recording back into Reaper where I can master the completed vocal and instrument track with Ozone or another mastering plug in. I am not using my new Dell xps much yet but with 32 gigs of Ram and a 13700H intel i7, you can probably run whatever you think is needed.

If it wasn't for my 16" M1 Pro, I would be completely happy with my 9530 (FHD+, i9, 4070, 32G RAM). Although I agree that the sharpness and color gamut of the FHD is excellent (I used to own the 9510 UHD+), it doesn't compare to the mini-LED of the M1 Pro; it's not even close, if you want a true-to-life experience and font sharpness. Other aspects, like the speakers and battery (don't get me started about the webcam!) leave much to be desired. Were it not for my company subsidizing this thing, I simply wouldn't have purchased it. It cost $3200 CAD, which is what my M1 Pro cost in 2021. That's crazy expensive for what one gets. Next time, in Window's land, it'll be Lenovo or Asus's mouthwatering Zenbook Duo (2024 and up). While "futuristic", the new 2024 Dell XPS still feels long in the tooth for someone who's XPS since the 7590 (OLED). Time for a change!

Macbooks are amazing hardware but mac os somora has bad design looks like a restricted childish phone. Maybe customisation and terminal could gradually rectify that for the user.

@@innosanto UPDATE: I updated to the Slim 7i gen 8 (4070, i9H). I'm much happier now--except for the speakers; they were better on the 9530. I use my MacBook less but it's still killer when I switch for work stuff. When (if) I get an itch for an Android phone again--I'm totally happy with my iPhone 14PM--I'll put down some serious coin on an OLED Windows laptop. I know ecosystem is less of a thing now but whatev, I like total integration.

I would prefer the Omen since it has a better graphics card, which can handle 3D tasks much better. Dell is more about the aesthetic.
