I have bought this laptop and unfortunately, it has many quality issues. The sound of the device started dropping only a few days after purchase. After which it started to have issues with the touchpad, it would go to sleep and I was not able to turn it on for hours. After endless conversations with customer support and many diagnostic videos later they sent an engineer to replace the hard drive, touchpad, and motherboard. The very next day after the replacement the screen went totally black and that was the end of it. I requested a replacement unit but Dell have been unhelpful and they refused to do so. I have been trying for 5 months now to get this fixed but without any success. I am currently stuck with a device that does not work. Overall, awful experience with the device and the tech support of Dell. Avoid it as much as possible.

Technically, the audio driver is included with included with the latest GPU driver, since it has a discrete Nvidia GPU. So as you download the latest "Geforce Game Ready Driver" as Nvidia likes to call it, audio should work on Linux.

With the power fixes does it no longer dip into battery when under full load?

I do not see how that issue can be fixed because the max power capability of USB-C is like 100 watts and the charger itself is 130 watts so the laptop is not able to draw 130 watts through the charger. So if the laptop usage draws 110 watts of power then 100 will come from the wall while 10 watts will come from the battery. These being rough numbers, I don't see a way around this as the limiting factor is the USB-C port.

@@UnknownMoses Dell uses a proprietary version of USB C/PD to surpass the 100w limit and output 130w. The problem is that certain configurations require more than 130w, so at max load even pulling 130w from the wall it needs to supplement from the battery to keep up. This is in addition to early units only pulling 100w from the wall as a defect.

hello, is there a pen that you can use with this laptop? i want to make notes on ppt while using zoom with a pen. i’ve tried the pen from samsung pen laptop but it doesn’t work.

Spen is proprietary to Samsung devices only. You can use an active stylus which works fairly well, but certainly won't match the accuracy of dedicated stylus input using EMR or similar.

@@tag414 thnx. I emailed them and they said only the 2 in 1 products support pen. I've tried wacom one pen and m surface pro pen and they both did not work.

I had the 17. returned due to lots of issues with my model. the display looks amazing but response time is high. i dont have an exact number but you wont be doing any crazy FPS gaming on it.

@Cajunomics I ended up getting a Blade 15 which had problems. I currently have the Asus G14 and absolutely love it! Best laptop I’ve owned

But the lower res display does not have a touch screen. If you want more battery life using a lower res screen then there are probably better laptop options out there i think.

If you buy it without the video card, with UHD graphics only, it doesn't look like the graphics chip is capable of doing the advertised 3840 x 2400, right?

The Intel Tiger Lake chips are definitely capable of running at that resolution.

Hate to be that guy, but I HAVE to have that numerical keypad on the right... I use it daily and it affects turnaround time, and besides, a 17" computer with tenkeyless looks odd to me 🤷‍♂️

You are looking at it wrong. A typical 17" screen laptop that has a keypad is more like 18"+ overall and has room for it. This is a 17" in the size of a 15.4".

Lon, have you noticed the incredibly aggressive commercial load that RU-vid is presenting to viewers of your channel and any channel? we have to make our way through one or two or three commercials just to see your video. Will you complain to RU-vid about this?

I do not think that is correct, the USB-C port is only capable of 100 watts, if it was able to draw full 130w from the adapter then you would not see any battery drain with system under full load.

Normal USB-C is only capable of 100w, that is correct. However Dell uses a proprietary system to get 130w from USB-C

Better off getting the full HD version with the 1650ti. Games will not run optimally at 4k with either a 2060 or 1650ti.

thinking of getting that model.. just need it for everyday use, streaming, browsing etc. not gaming much, if even at all. do you think its good for this? would the thermals be low as well?
