Deltarune "Snowgrave" Route Ending Differences (That I Found) 

Small detail: In the pacifist route, when you go to the hospital to visit Noelle (and her dad), Noelle notices Susie first. In the snowgrave route, Noelle notices Kris first.

The fact that even queen seemed alittle scared...

Something to note. The sprite when she sees kris in the snowgrave route is not shock. It's FEAR. it only changes to shock on seeing susie

The way Queen misses her people, the way Noelle's dad is hinting a shade of worry, the way Noelle fears Kris, the way the tires are slashed, the way that even Rasiel is missing people, Lancer saw everything..., it's scary to put it lightly.

Bro I just figured out what the King meant by "left behind" In chapter one the Ralsei said the Darkners and the Lightners lived in peace, until the lightners just up and left. The "Lightners leaving" was referring to how the classroom the first Fountain is in was abandoned and just wasn't used anymore. The King was angry at the Lightners for leaving them like old toys and straight up pulled a Lotso from Toy Story. I get this has nothing to do with the video, just blew my mind lmao

06:37 Not gonna lie, it's definitely not on the same level as everything else that happens on the Snowgrave route, but there's definitely something chilling about the way Spades King sees right through you for what you've done and almost laughing at you for sinking right down to his (extremely low) expectations for you.

If you're wearing the silver watch instead of saying that your voice is terrifying she'll ask why you're wearing it.

Honestly, the "Snowgrave" route is probably one of the darker stories in both Undertale and Deltarune

Toby makes light hearted fun games, but when he makes things dark...damn

Dude, I accidentally had her ring on me when I ended the chapter since I didn't want it to go to waste, and then suddenly during the scene after we meet her and her father were she talks about how scary Kris was and then sees us she FREAKED OUT and asked "HOW... T-THAT'S MY RING..! W-WHEN DID YOU GET THAT...?" And instead of the answers in this vid I got Kris to answer her "In your dream." and then Susie interuppted and everything went back to the old Snowgrave script. Holy shit, I'd be lying if I didn't say that gave me goosebumps, such a terrifying, wonderfully written game. Hats off to Toby once again.

Something I noticed too. If you aren't doing the snow grave route, and during the Switch puzzle she has you step on the Switch to let her by. You can step off the Switch before she reaches the other side. She doesn't die but she remarks on how much of a prankster you're being and then will wonder why you look mad tho.

I think there ought to be more attention on Noelle's dad at 3:45 and how he seems to be wising up to what's going on. He may not be involved enough to understand, but he his fatherly instincts are telling him Noelle's haunted by a dangerous kid. I think his conversation with Susie is his subtle attempt to protect his daughter with someone whom she trusts, and could take her far away from Kris where he wouldn't find them. Honestly, I love that bit of text. It completes the sense of dread that the entire run has been building up to, like the feeling that you're about to cause a lot more pain before it's over and everyone's beginning to sober to it.

What's scary is that it seems Noelle has pushed away her romantic interest for Susie in favor for the player (albeit she's unsure who you really are yet but is skeptical of Kris, she seems smart enough to put the dots together). Based on the occurrences in the route itself, you're imposing yourself onto her through Kris, and quite vehemently. Going from "Kris will ride with Noelle" to "Noelle will ride with me" It... It makes me sick. You "outcrazy" Susie, feed her domination fantasy by disrespecting her, commanding her and completely entrancing her with your praise: to the point she is conditioned to not even recognize Berdly and ask if she should freeze him, waiting for your praise. You prevent her from getting much time at all with Susie and the others whatsoever. You fixate her on you. Then you make her quite literally ice Berdly. You destroy the love triangle. She begins to dissociate from everyone except Kris and this voice that she hears. When she talks to susie in the library, and asks if Susie has a tail, her response to the answer is basically "oh nice" and then out the door. Not how she'd act if she was genuinely interested. She wants to use ice on an ice boss and refuses to hand the game to her father to cooperate, seeking the same rush of dopamine that she experienced from being praised-- "Noelle became stronger" serenaded into her ear, as if the player is telling her directly-- "I'm so proud of you" as you mold her. In this route you literally have Noelle under your beck and call, all it takes is the whisper of your voice and she's there. She's willing to LET you hurt her. Do whatever you say. Its mortifying. And she's so powerful all considered. She does enough damage with snowgrave to kill a player character ten times. I wont be surprised if she becomes the main weapon of this genocide route. Esp if she comes to the realization you are indeed essentially omniscient having already used kris to respond verbally to her thought about letting kris get electrocuted by telling her it's normal. At that point I don't see why she wouldn't trust your every word without question. Edit: 100 likes wow I'm glad people like my thoughts Did some retrospect, added a point i missed about Noelle's interaction with her father, and the influence of the battle victory text.

Berdly not waking up in the library unsettled me the most. And then you're forced to leave him in there. If you try to go back into the room he's in, you're met with a box of dialogue that disturbingly says "No reason to go back in there."

I hate Berdly a lot… but even *HE* didn’t deserve that…

The Seam dialogue seems regular to me, I got the same dialogue for using a save where I didn't beat Jevil - Pacifist route tho.

Fyi if you recruit a few while doing this route you can get different dialogue with the queen and trashy when you go back to ralseis world. She asks where is nubert is and trashy says nubert didnt want to come if everyone wasnt here... that was chilling to me

So this pretty much confirms it, we are controlling Kris but we aren't Kris, which makes sense Also, as someone else said, that conversation about the crystal is normal, it means you didn't beat Jevil in your Chapter 1 save, IF you used one at all I didn't have to play chapter one again at least, somebody also said that to the west of the town you can find "lost" items from previous saves (where that chessboard dude just flies off), whatever that means

During the cutscene that starts at 2:02, there’s a small window for the player to push right on the control pad which will make noelle tell kris to stop and not come any closer before Susie comes out and ends the cutscene. When the lights come back on, kris will be positioned close to the wall so it implies that kris was about to corner noelle against the wall. It skips all the dialogue options from the way the cutscene normally plays out but in my opinion it makes the snowgrave route way more creepy than it already was.

The scene in the hospital also changes if you equip Noelle's watch that affects grazing onto Kris, and it's basically her becoming absolutely terrified of you and realising it wasn't a dream. Plus the home dark world after snowgrave is like that if you dont recruit anything either

It feels like Kris just started a cult and Noelle is their first cult member

theres a small dialogue change after leaving the hospital room if you equip her watch in the dark world

THE QUEEN DIALOUGE IS SO SAD NO

Personally never had the heart to do genocide/snowgrave, but I really love how awful Toby makes the player feel for it. Like, there's no Chara figure to pin the blame on; it's blatantly your choice to manipulate Noelle and ice Berdly and you have every opportunity to not do it

I cant wait when all the chapters of this game is done and we can finally see the whole genocide route, cuz its pretty interestingly dark

When you realize the likely reason rudy told everything about noelle to susie is because he probably knows hes going to die

the seam dialogue at 5:15 happens if you've beaten Jevil prior to shadow crystals being added i think, i got the same thing without snowgrave

When Noelle is talking in her own mind, during the dialog you can move to the right... getting close to Noelle each step.....

The sound that plays when Noelle leaves the hospital is the running away sound from undertale.

this is way more fucked up than the genocide run in UT

In undertale genocide I argued for years Chara isn't the responsible of genocide run, Sans being the first character they kill. We just decided to kill everyone and Chara went along with it but didn't act until the very end. I'll stick with that no matter what So for now I won't try to argue anything different about Deltarune. I'm still thinking this is our responsability. We're the one controlling Kris after all

I think the stuff in your kingdom happens if you failed to recruit enough people; it's not specific to the Snowgrave route.

Guys I have a bit of a prediction. Hear me out. What if its just like what we think it is. Deltarune as it has been said has only one ending. What if… that was true. One ending for the player or well Kris. Kris falls into the darkness and drags those he knows down with him in the snowgrave route but in the normal route, he saves the people he cares about while having a bad end by himself. Its a possibility but its an interesting one.

I've came to a startling realization: Berdly isn't dead, he's paralyzed.

Also noticed this upon saving "After a long day, you have returned to the castle town. But, you still feel the power in your hands..." Don't know if this is snowgrave exclusive, but still pretty chilling.

4:55 the way that Queen pretty much runs away when she realizes te others aren’t coming/aren’t there is pretty haunting- never has she ever been as serious about something and that’s scary

i had two bullies like berdly and i kinda always wanted to uh hurt berdly because it was a game without consequences i felt so terrible i made noelle do that i genuinely cried for about an hour for a character i genuinely despise even still.yeah it took a video game to teach me violence isnt okay even if you dont like someone but i had to go through a lot without actual friends so i thought it was okay becase i had to protect myself in real life but when it came to the game i didnt actually care until he didnt wake up. im sorry berdly i feel so dirty i am never playing this route again.

This route is the most disturbing thing i have ever seen. Never thought toby would be the one to do this kind of darkness.

so, any theories what the fuck is up with Kris? is Kris creating dark portals? Why? is it so that we (the player) stop messing with their body? Does Kris really sound that scary? And assuming that we aren't actually Kris when we're playing as them, than who is controlling Kris when we aren't? Because I'm pretty sure Kris probably didn't know how to open those portals normally. I'm assuming the "sounding and looking scary" is an undertale thing, like from genocide. yeah? So I guess the real question is, how much of Kris really is there anymore?

Have you noticed people from the light world appear black and white on the textboxes but people from the dark world have color? like

on the wiki its said that at 2:50 we could still press the buttons to walk towards noelle, but i've never seen anyone doing it O_o

Also- In the hospital, if you interact with the bead-toy in the snowgrave route it'll say that a blue bead was ripped out

6:40 when King says that, do you think he already knows that Kris is the knight and regrets ever embracing the Dark Fountain in his realm? I did the genocide route in chapter 1 followed by a pacifist route in chapter 2 and he has that same exact dialogue. only if you do a true pacifist run for both routes do you get a nice Easter egg with Queen and King.

couple fun facts: you get different dialogue in the hospital if you're wearing the silver watch you can walk in the hospital scene, giving you different dialogue if you walk enough (down and right worked for me but i'm not sure if it matters)

What if... Wht if this most psychopatic, heart shattering route will be the way for a good ending? Knowing toby he can come up with everyting. Training lightners into cruel destruction machines... Would be the best way to defeat the roaring we heard so much about. But what if the adventure is more important than the destination. Also doing these extreme actions could potentially make other worried about kris and figure out that he is controled

Something about the snow grave route makes me feel so queasy, she doesn’t want any of this to happen, noelle feels so uncomfortable with the things you’re making her do, basically telling her to forget about the puzzle and keep going while she’s trying to have a little fun and do the puzzle, she gives up trying to have fun and it’s just so heartbreaking, she doesn’t want to do any of this, I don’t understand how anyone has the heart to do this play through without feeling even the slightest bit of pain for noelle In conclusion, this alternate run makes me wanna puke

I noticed the music that plays when Noelle is saying her dialogue sounds alot like gaster’s theme which could be a coincidence but knowing toby fox I know for a fact that’s intentional.

5:55 and 6:46 Everything that Lancer and the King say, its usually also said when you didn't reclute everyone, so its not snowgrave specific, now Queen, only up until the "A lot of demands to do" normally Ralsei should anwser "I'll see what I can do" but its instead changed by the Queen's feelings about nobody being there Same thing with the manequinn and Lancer hearing us from across town I think, the only odd thing from that side was the Bloxer being by the great door

There's some extra dialog for if you put on Noelle's watch when she's in your party, where before susie comes in she says "AND WHY ARE YOU WEARING MY WATCH"

Honestly, at first, I knew that the genocide route existed in Undertale, but I didn't know about the SnowGrave route. Fortunately, I didn't do it, on account of I didn't know how. But still, when I first found out, I was considering it. I didn't realize how it would affect Noelle like how the genocide route would affect the monsters in Undertale. Due to the multiple saves feature, along with timeline-hopping not really being a theme in Deltarune, it's clear that I could do the route and then delete the save, or start a new one. But should I? The answer, of course, is no. Toby Fox has a knack of making his video game characters feel like real people. When you kill Toriel and/or Papyrus in Undertale, you feel guilty. This is because these characters feel real, and you feel like you've just killed your own mother or a friend who makes you laugh, for Toriel and Papyrus respectively. The SnowGrave route is different, though. Instead of feeling guilt over those you've killed, you feel guilt over those you've affected. Noelle is obviously one of them. But the other is Kris. Deltarune makes it abundantly clear that Kris and the player are not one and the same. When you command Noelle to kill, Kris' voice is not their own. It's a terrifying voice, as Noelle tells us. What's more, after the Spamton NEO fight, Kris is apparently pale. When asked if they are okay, Kris will either strain to say yes or scream out no. Either way, it makes Susie and Ralsei worried. Thank you for reading all the way through this. And one final reminder: Don't do the SnowGrave route in Deltarune Chapter 2. The same applies to the genocide route in Undertale. (The girl with bunny ears) For those who don't know, Yoki is a character from Temmie Chang's game called "Dweller's empty path". There is a game before that called "Escaped Chasm" Best part... is that the music is made by Toby and Camila The holy trinity!

I genuinely hope each future chapter gets affected by the player doing snowgrave.

Small detail, the animations for Noelle in combat during snowgrave are different compared to the normal route.

man i felt really bad for queen in castle town, she really cares about her subjects and seeing her upset because they weren't there made me feel sad for her

All this and kris has to be forced to watch you manipulate his friends. Your forcing them to hurt the people they care for. You manipulate their childhood friend into freezing dozens of people until she's terrified of you. All of this is just made even worse by the fact that kris is being forced to do this. They're forced to just watch as you make their friends fear them. They're forced to watch you traumatized them and change who they are. It's all just more sad when the people around kris aren't the only ones being hurt but kris themselves has to watch it. That just adds a whole new level of messed up and sadness to it all.

So I have this theory, hear me out… *The player uses Kris’ soul as a way to control them, but they know it.* Every scene where Kris removes their soul, it’s so they can do their own thing. And we can’t do anything about it. *Our choices don’t matter.* The player (us) can’t stop Kris from eating the pie, slashing the tires, or opening a portal to hell in the living room.

Hats off to Toby Fox. He really managed to make an "evil" route that's somehow viler and more interesting than Undertale's genocide route despite the less amount of bloodshed. I can't wait to see where it goes from here. I can't wait to see just how far the Player can go to corrupt this world.

I haven’t seen anyone talk about this, but if you look through your items in the real world when you’re with Susie, there’s “Glass”, if you use it, it will say something about how Susie is staring coldly at us or something, idk if that’s a Snowgrave only thing or if it also happens on the pacifist route

I just went with Genocide cuz I thought our "choices don't matter", but I guess they do in this chapter. I had that Queen conversation where she wondered where everyone else was.

Huh, Queen's dialogues are so different here, but I guess it's just because I spared pretty much everyone except for the 19 monsters required to unlock this route. In my playthrough she didn't sound that sad in the castle.

The spade King one can also be achieved if you left one monster behind I left the swatchlings and got the same dialogue

Tip: Before you enter Noelle's Father's room in the Hospital room, if you inspect the bead thing, it'll mention the blue one being torn off, while the rest have their own track, which is a reference of berdly being removed from the team (by being froze)

If you equip the watch that Noelle has before you visit her in the hospital, instead of asking why your voice sounded so terrifying, she'll ask where'd you get the watch Edit: also Noelle normally notices Susie first in the hospital room but if you did the Snowgrave route she notices you first

There's also another bit dialogue if you take Noelles watch and wear it she will say "Kris...are you wearing my watch..? How did you get it..?" And there's and option to pick "in your dream" I think but Susie interrupts again

Since Noelle’s spells are based off of that game she has. I feel like Susie should have a spell related to skateboarding since we see in the palace that skateboard games are in her search history

I actually discovers an interesting change in dialogue when you meet Noell in the hospital after this route. If you wear her bracket (one of her armor items, I don’t know if it really matters which you put on) when you visit her, than instead of noticing the creepy voice she will instead pick up on the fact your wearing her bracket. The answer dialogue is also a little different but it does roughly say the same thing. What she experienced was very real.
