Three week after it's triumphant return to mainline action, The Deltic Preservation Society's Class 55 55009 'Alycidon' was once again back on old haunts of the East Coast Mainline, working UK Railtours' 'The Coronation Deltic' from Kings Cross to Scarborough. The train would run along the ECML to York, then turn right to reach Scarborough. The return would retrace its steps, however the train would take the diversionary route from Doncaster via Gainsborough and Lincoln before rejoining the ECML at Peterborough.
'Alycidon' was running as lost classmate 55013 'The Black Watch'. Built in September 1961, D9013 was based at Haymarket, one of the Scottish allocation of 'regiment' Deltics and was named 'The Black Watch' on 16th January 1963 at Dundee. Following TOPS renumbering to 55013 in early 1974, 'The Black Watch' worked the last loco hauled 'Aberdonian' on 30th September 1978. Failure in December 1981 saw the loco withdrawn and it was moved to Doncaster Works for disposal on 23rd January 1982, where it was scrapped that December.
