Gamliel Piha Socialism is not an on or off switch. Socialism can be applied to society to varying degrees. For example, the military and the police are socialist programs. In America, socialism is a good thing but only for the rich. When we pay for their subsidies, taxes and wars, that’s good socialism. If we use our own money to give ourselves healthcare, that’s bad socialism. There’s gonna be socialism either way, we practice Corporate Socialism in the US.

This is exactly why Obama was such a disappointment. He didn't join anyone's strike like he said he would, he allowed the abuse of human beings we watched every day live in North Dakota, he put Goldman Sachs in charge of the treasury, and he absolutely loved drone strikes. He underestimates the political climate and the anger and impatience of the electorate. We've been gas-lighted by both parties for over 40 years and we understand who has profited from it. You don't deserve everything, and by God, you're about to share it.

A difference between Bernie Sanders emperor a CO bamma is he will fight the Republican party instead of trying to make friends with them. I'm under no delusion that it will be a struggle. @@brandong298 Sanders energizes the left and has support from independents in a way none of the others have. The other frontrunners are gonna try to court the "other side" but that strategy probably won't pull enough numbers to beat Trump's base. And if Sanders doesn't get the nomination again, we may end up with a repeat of 2016 where the base lost its drive. Because people don't get energized on "vote for me because just look how bad he is"

Peter Krug Warren wouldn’t be horrible. But the rest are centrist, corporatist (except Yang, who I also like even though he just doesn’t have enough support right now. Maybe in the future.) But I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Bernie. He’s the most trustworthy and has great policies.

In 2008 he campaigned on a bold platform that involved taking chances. Voters loved what he had to say and they gave him an overwhelming victory and mandate to take those chances as our new President. So not only did he have the luxury of taking chances, he had a responsibility to follow up on his campaign promises to take those chances. The fact that he didn't was a betrayal which was evident in the 2010 midterm where he himself said the dems led by him took a "schalaking." And yes, its not right to throw shade of Sanders and Warren who are willing to do the things he wasn't willing to do, despite his mandate.

political correctness and "mass migration" are right wing ideals though, traditionally socialists always opposed mass imigration, especially during the era of importing "guest workers" because they saw it as a ploy by the capitalist class to undermine workers. What the socialists did do however, and what Liberals hate is defend the workers rights of these immigrant workers once they actually where here and to fight to get them the same rights and wages as "native workers" (in my country at the time these "guest workers" where mostly Spaniards, Italians and later Moroccans and Turks) globalism, immigration, lack of worker rights, lack of regulation etc... those are all right wing liberal ideals.

Here's a serious, non facetious, question. What, exactly, is the point of being a centrist Democrat nowadays? A Democratic pivot to the center merely creates a matchup between the hard right and a sort of GOP light. In such a contest, I see no evidence to suggest that conservative (or populist) voters would opt for a softer version of the right. The Democratic party needs to embrace the progressive wing of the party; or they risk losing much of it, just as they did in 2016.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you talk about Obama and his legacy. I think he wants everyone to continue what he started so when the history books look back, it will show him as the beginning. The threat that Sanders poses is a complete overshadow of Obama. Sander's policies are completely different and if he gets elected and implements them, Obama would then become an irrelevant historical figure. They will say the future began with Sanders instead of Obama and that scares the living daylights out of him.

True, Obama has been noted to be affected by certain criticism, but I don’t see him is that jealous a type about legacy. Obama was able to get himself elected in an era where no one else had the ability to do that like him. It was such a feckless Congress that he had for two years and couldn’t stand up for anything, Even the idea that he got some very important legislation done. So I can see how he would take it personally that no one gives him credit for the things that he did in those two years, but that’s pretty freaking petty to not want someone to look better than he and that’s kind of projection

Jock Share Rock of course we can all acknowledge and agree that the Republicans stopped at nothing to make sure he was as ineffective as possible. He faced some serious opposition like no other. And yes I agree that he probably takes it personal that no one gives him credit for things. However, I don’t think he is against Sanders because he doesn’t want someone looking better than him. That would be super petty, but I do think he believes in the route he set up and thinks Sanders represents a non continuation of his route. I hope that makes sense.

Rishaun Spencer I believe that happened with Clinton? Didn’t Obama endorse her? Wasn’t she supposed to win by a landslide? I voted for Obama 2 times, but I believe Bernie would have won against Trump. However, you are correct, the establishment will find a way to push a candidate more to the center. The establishment wants someone they can control, or they want Trump so they and the MSM can make millions doing stories about him.

The biggest achievement of Obama was healthcare. But that was mainly good for that time in history. There is also a thing called progress. We should seek to continue to move forward and make healthcare better and cheaper. We now know that overall Medicare for All lowers an individual's costs by about half, covers EVERYONE, and brings about better outcomes. And Bernie Sanders has also pledged to cut prescription drug prices in half. So, why keep what we have now when there's a much better and easier way to go? Bernie - Tulsi 2020!

That's dumb as hell and maybe you should educate yourself first. Even Cenk said he did some good things and bad, Not Trump bad but establishment bad. This whole segment was based off some shit he never said so that in itself sucks. I like Obama, Warren, and Sanders. You can't force people all the way left right out of the gate. And yet Obama voiced his support for Bernie Sanders again and again, in Vermont and during the 2016 election where he mocked Hillary's campaign while propping up Bernie Sanders. He also referred to ObamaCare as a step forward but that Bernie Sanders' vision for Medicare For All was the way to go .. now he's flipped?
