One of the bosses I always remembered from FF7 OG was demon wall, he kicked my ass so much back in the day. I couldn’t believe they threw in two of them!
But for me, DW in rebirth is bit less challanging than the OG. in OG, DW move like cave in, demon rush sweep the entire party to critical hit, and even more, game over. Even one to one attack like stone fall and petrify stare are also big obstacle in challange. His atb move fast. Even can do 2 turn in a row, bring it super difficult. But now, rebirth seem not include all the move but adding new. Make it double just for terror, the moves not really pushed us to corner
@@redsarg99 i did. Even i ve beaten them by speedrun . Thanks for FFVIIR speedrun video. ... for me, its still not really hard as OG did. In Rebirth, to catch the time of refill ATB, ATB boost is must, haste, HOWEVER, in OG even if you use spider web to inflict slow and do haste, protect, and shell (barrier,Mbarrier, and haste) targeting character, it still move fast and sometimes do two turn in row. In FFVIIR speedrun, i give rate 80% chance for beating it in hard game, but in OG i will give 50% change for beating it WITHOUT ANY DIFFICULTY MODE OPTION.
This was legitimately one of the best boss fights I’ve ever experienced in a video game. It’s terrifying for multiple reasons. A: I mean, come on. The music is just horrific in every way. It’s meant to sound like the scariest and most terrifying thing you’ve ever seen. B: the boss fight itself is so oppressive and claustrophobic, and the boss’s design is grotesque and terrifying in the best way, evoking imagery of H. R. Geiger and thus the Xenomorph as well. Walls closing in, pillars falling from the sky, orbs of evil energy and this dude swiping at you every chance he gets, then discovering there are TWO of them?? After you’ve effectively realized just how tough killing only one will be? And the whole time you’re fighting the first one, the second one is nipping at you from behind and you can’t effectively face both at the same time. C: you want to beat these things to survive, but you also don’t want Cloud to get the Black Materia!! And the whole time throughout the battle, Cloud is laughing evilly as you fight. You’re in a lose-lose situation with two of the most horrifying outcomes possible on either side.
I love how this uses a 7-beat time signature in some parts, like starting at 0:16. It's not the only Remake/Rebirth track to do this, and I doubt it's coincidence.
@@zephyr9949 The Scorpion Sentinel goes into a 7/4-ish time signature for a bit near the end. The Turks - Tseng and Elena uses a lot of what feels like a 7/8. There might be others, but these are the ones that come to mind! As I think about it, Remake and Rebirth use a lot of unconventional time signatures - 5/4, 9/4, lots of mixed-meter stuff. It keeps things interesting. So, maybe the use of 7/4 and 7/8 doesn’t really have any special significance.
Remember how you felt when you saw his hp, your first 10,000hp boss. From there you knew it was going to be epic. Years later and the remake this boss as a badass, with such a unique and dope boss track to boot.
Which parts do you hear it in? I think I hear Cosmo Canyon and Shinra in it, along with the temple theme. (Although I don’t know why Shinra’s Leitmotif should appear here…) I guess a cue from IV would make some sense since that was the first game to have a Demon Wall, but I feel like a reference to the main boss theme from it would probably fit more if they wanted to call back to that?
@@yoseisovereign6728Which part do you hear the Temple theme? I don't know why, but 99% of this track sounds completely foreign and unrecognizable; it's very frustrating to feel like I'm missing so many references...
I thought I heard some echoes of it around 1:05 when it has some quiet instruments for a while. I think the percussion a little bit after that also calls to mind some of the other battle themes in the temple. But I could be wrong. What I *definitely* hear is a lot of references to the Cosmo Canyon/Gi theme, which I think suggests the Gi are supposed to have created this monster.
@@Bdannn1 Demon Wall has always been a boss in every iteration of the mainline games outside of a few. The OG FF7 had him as a boss. FF12 notably had two Demon Walls you could fight, one was optional while the other is mandatory (but drastically weaker).
